Turns out Luka is not bad on defense either
He’s never been THAT bad of a defender when he actually tries, which he’s shown he’s capable of doing in important games. He’s just always taken a lot of regular season games off / focuses his effort on scoring. I’m a big Luka fan, but his defensive shortcomings have always been effort based- or he gets frustrated at something and gets caught up yelling at officials.
Does anyone seriously think a 6’8 pro basketball player can’t play better defense? I imagine come playoffs he’ll turn the intensity up a bunch again. It’s not like Trae or some of these super tiny undersized guys who just actually do not have the tools.
With all that said- I wish he showed that effort more often cuz he’d be a totally complete player if he did.

Also Luka is an excellent rebounder which is also important in defence which compensates a lot
He is bad but not bad unplayable on defense. He reads the passing lanes well. He just cant keep up with the speed and strength of the players 1v1. Maybe he is saving his energy for offense too. Cant blame him if he is that good offensively.
