Giannis Antetokounmpo is officially disqualified for All NBA Team Selection this season (He was First Team All NBA from 2019 - 2025)
The 65⁄82 games rule forced all Players who wants a major award to not missed more than 18 games.
Gianni’s technically only missed 16 games. But he also have 2 games where he played 3 mins and 13 mins respectively. It doesn’t count. So that will be additional of 2 missed games.
“I thought they can have 2 counted games where they play less than 20 mins game?
Yes, they can IF they played 15-19 mins in those games. Giannis played less than 15 mins in the two games he had the less mins played.
So, even if he plays all remaining games for Bucks now. He can only play up to 64 games.
UNLESS, he got traded to another team in the trade deadline. And he can have extra games due to his new team having fewer games played than Bucks at the time of the trade deadline. But I doubt it.
Giannis was a First Team All NBA member for 7 straight years (2019 - 2025). His streak will end this season. As, he is disqualified in Winning any major awards (MVP, DPOY, All NBA Teams)
PS: Jokic is the next superstar set to be disqualified due to 65 games rule. He is 2 missed games away. And very likely to happen.
