Unlike the Warriors’ deal that’s been hyped up by ESPN, that’s an actual offer

Seems pretty clear to me that Atlanta could make the best offer because of the Pelicans/ Bucks swap. But it seems like they aren’t interested.

Every superstar who’s been on the trade market for years and it’s DAE Tyler Herro and garbage for X superstar??? 

The only people who value him are Heat fans and a few people here and there because I don’t think any fanbase is overly excited about him either.

I think the Heat have a compelling offer but it really depends how good Milwaukee thinks Herro and Ware are and if they think the post-Curry picks will be more valuable than fringe/bottom tier all star player. I don’t follow the Heat closely so as a neutral, I would wonder why he’s being benched in what was supposed to a breakout year for him.

Also, fans saying the Heat and Warriors picks are the same don’t seem to understand:

1. The Warriors are absolute dog shite whenever Curry sits and this trade is a gamble on him and Giannis staying healthy and playing at an elite level for longer than 1-2 years.
2. The West is an absolute bloodbath and if either player gets hurt or whenever Curry retires, this team is going to be bottom 3 or the worst team in the west. The Heat play in a softer conference and are consistently playoff contenders, their picks are likely to be late lotto to early 20’s as like Spo is coaching.

They also don’t have the best picks.

At least Herro has his knees. Golden state wants Kuminga who they haven’t been able to trade for years and a hurt Butler.

Ware and the picks are the only thing I find interesting.

Trading away Lowry’s contract to get under the second apron was a big reason for that trade but for some reason, the league or media doesn’t want to point out owners avoiding the tax apron.

Rozier was averaging 23-7-4 on good efficiency in the 2024 season before Miami acquired him. Calling him a “mid role player” in an effort to act obtuse about why Charlotte got a 1st for him is extremely dishonest, nice job.

I work in insurance the foundation of it is based on disclosing all material facts aka facts that would change the decision whether to accept or decline the risk. Utmost good faith is the term and it is to be used when agreeing on a contract.

I agree. If the NBA decides that Miami cant move the Rozier expiring in a trade, thats kind of bullshit. But wanting a pick back when the guy played out 60% of his contract loses me. Barry is the weirdest reporter I’ve ever seen. Like legitimately weird. He does have some great sources and great reporting when it comes to what the Miami Heat (And also the Miami Dolphins) are doing/thinking/whatever, but he gets hung up on the absolute weirdest shit. I remember a few years back when the Dolphins kind of good but not great and lost the Chiefs in the first round, he spent a whole month telling Dolphins fans that they should just enjoy being kind of good because that’s all this team is capable of doing. He also legitimately made the argument on Twitter that because the Dolphins drafted Tua and he was mediocre, the fans should not want the team to draft anymore quarterbacks because they fucked up the last QB pick.

I absolutely do not blame anyone from outside of this market to find him extremely annoying. He really is super weird, and the only good thing about his reporting is his connections with those two teams. If you don’t care about those two teams, you’re basically only left with his insane rantings

If there’s actual proof that they were completely aware of the betting and thats the reason why they traded him, sure, but I doubt they have that. Its not like it was a surprise to trade him at the time or anything

It’s because the hornets allegedly knew about this investigation prior to the trade and the investigation was never disclosed to Miami. Has nothing to do with how well or poorly he played

As a heat fan I’m also ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ on how good our offer is, Herro is young and has legitimately been an all star so that’s something, but seeing how much Trae went for definitely makes me less than optimistic about his value. Ware and Kas are legitimately pretty good prospects but not Giannis centerpiece level, Jaime has been phenomenal but he’s probably near his ceiling at this point. So like some good, some bad I could see it being enough but also maybe not.

I’ll give an actual answer because the other response was some butthurt weirdo nonsense, TLDR at the end:

In the 2024 season, Kyle Lowry was an expiring $30M deal and he was absolutely garbage for the Heat by this point. The Heat wanted to make another Playoff run and Lowry was dead weight, so we packaged him and a 1st round pick to the Hornets in exchange for Terry Rozier, who legitimately was having a really good season, in January of 2024.

In March of 2023, so just about a year prior to the Heat getting Rozier, Rozier (allegedly) told some friends he was leaving a game early and to bet his unders- a huge amount of money for Rozier’s unders set off red flags for whatever gambling company it was and they tell the NBA/law enforcement. The NBA conducts an investigation into Rozier but finds him innocent. The Hornets knew about this, but neither they nor the NBA told the Heat about this.

In early 2025, it becomes public that the feds are investigating Rozier and on Opening Night of the 2025-2026 season, they arrest him. Rozier is now an expiring deal. He does not get his money for this year unless he is found not guilty, but the NBA has not given the Heat a clear answer about what they are allowed to do with Rozier’s salary (so it’s $26M of dead weight right now) nor have they given a compensatory pick to the Heat.

TLDR: It doesn’t really matter if Rozier was Damian Lillard or Bronny James. It doesn’t really matter why the Heat traded for him, though it’s useful to know the stuff about “oh Miami just wanted to save money” is just not true. The fact is, the Heat were not notified by the NBA nor by the Hornets of their investigation into Rozier for gambling and now the NBA has left the Heat completely holding the bag, with $26M of dead money on our cap sheet and no compensatory draft pick.

Because Charlotte didn’t disclose that there was a federal investigation that could cause him to become ineligible to play at any moment.
