Least necessary attempted revenge game of the season.
Cam Johnson over me!?!
Jokic can’t win with that cat
Well to be fair it’s more like Cam, Val, THJ, Brucey B for MPJ. We all love MPJ, it was the contract he was on when Jamal and Jokic are on max/supermax. He’s got the prettiest jumper in the NBA and was a major reason Denver got their first and only chip. Legend.
Let the apology be as loud as the disrespect. I couldn’t believe so many people honestly thought Cam Johnson was better than Michael Porter Jr. People were saying irrespective of contracts Cam Johnson was better/a better fit than MPJr. Completely ridiculous. Of course the same people saying that are as quiet as a mouse nowadays.
I’m an MPJ truther, but this is silly. Cam has been injured, and he was really starting to gel more and more up until the injury. Other players get a chance to blossom and do their thing in this system, and it doesn’t make sense to call it like this at this point.
This could be a win-win. Our sweet MPJ can fly free in the streets of New York and ball out as the number one option, and Cam can hopefully come back and just keep getting better and better.
Cam is regularly injured. That’s a feature, not a bug.
Him coming back fully healthy is always a concern, but you’re acting like the injury was predictable when I don’t see how you could make that case.
Does all that salt affect your blood pressure? I say this as someone that was really skeptical of Cam based on how the first third of the season was going.
EDIT: LOL He blocked me 👼
The trade was about money
I think it remains to be seen whether Cam Johnson is a better fit with Jokic and the nuggets.
Maybe for you, bro, but definitely not for me.
Well, I have to say that that makes me think that you’re not looking at this with much introspection. MPJ had been pretty disappointing for the nuggets, with him struggling during their title run, averaging 13 points and 1 assist per game in the playoffs over his career with the team, and posting a negative plus minus 3 of the last 4 post seasons.
Obviously MPJ is putting up great numbers now as the primary option on a bad team. That doesn’t change my opinion of his fit on a winning team, though.
No, he wasn’t disappointing at all for the Nuggets. He has always been a top 5 shooter in the NBA with incredible gravity. Having incredible shooting and gravity means you dramatically help your team’s offense even when you don’t have the ball. That’s literally the most valuable skill set you can offer an elite team in the NBA because there is only one ball. The Nuggets desperately needed his ridiculous creation, too. He could shoot over anyone and needed 0 space to get his shot off. One of the best play-finishers in the entire NBA. 60%+ TS year after year after year on one of the toughest shot diets in the NBA. Factor that in with his low turnover rate, and literally nobody else in the League outside of your Steph Currys, Jokics, Durants and Shais are able to maintain such a high TS and a low turnover rate relative to their usage on such a difficult shot diet. I’m not even exaggerating either. He earned his max.
Able to scale that up, but because the Nuggets had Jokic/Murray, they never needed to have him scale it up. Now you’re seeing how much he sacrificed his game for winning. You just don’t know what you’re talking about.
You’re routinely going to be misled on players if you put too much stock in +/-. It’s an incredibly noisy stat. You just can’t use it in small sample sizes. It’s worthless. You’re the one who lacks introspection here.
The rhetoric around Michael Poter Jr. always annoyed the shit out of me because nobody ever talked about his game objectively. It was such casual fan perspective. He’s actually a perfect case on why advanced stats are so important in evaluating players. And he’s absolutely worth two firsts in a trade if he is shipped out this season.
I could go on and on, too: most elite shooters are much smaller than his massive 6’10 frame. And he’s a legit good rebounder. So this makes Michael Porter Jr. one of the most efficient players in the entire NBA because he’s above average at three of the four most important skills in the game: shooting efficiency, rebounding, and turnovers (Four Factors). Finally, you can’t pick on him defensively easily because he’s huge and athletic. He doesn’t move well, and you can get him if you run him through a bunch of screens, but you can’t post him up easily, and overall targeting him is just not worth the squeeze. He’s almost never the worst or even second-worst defender on the court. So he’s extremely portable.
Just face it: you and everyone else were completely wrong about his value. He is legit one of the best players in the NBA and should be a slam-dunk All-Star this season.
Good stats bad team guy.
More like elite stats, bad team. It’s actually very hard to put up elite volume and efficiency stats on a bad team, because it means you have to put up a lot of very low-quality shots. To make low-quality shots at a very high rate is, obviously, extraordinarily difficult. Not even Kobe Bryant was good at it.
Wow, I wonder why if he’s so great he was such a perennial disappointment in the playoffs.
Wanted him to get 40 so bad
Been proving he’s not a Jokic merchant
Jokic is MPJ corner 3 merchant
Dawg, the Nuggets won this game and are arguably doing better than last year, while the Nets are out of the playoff picture before the All Star break. Based off this comments, you would’ve thought the opposite lmao
Im surprised its not MichaelPorterTruther posting this…
Today, we are all MichaelPorterTruther.
Haha he’s all over our sub now
He is all over DNVR super chats too. Happy for MPJ though, curious to see who gets him in the upcoming trade.
He was out for blood
I thought it was in the cards for him to get his career high tonight. He’s been close a few times this season.
Thought he settled for too many 3s and could’ve attacked more, but then you look at the numbers and he’s 7⁄15 from 3. Next highest scorer on the Nets had 12 points.
Mikes handle isn’t good enough to really attack consistently because of his back better for him to shoot 15 3s
Accurate.
Too gassed at the end. Feels like he’s gonna be hard on himself for not closing the game well, again.
At least he can chill tomorrow.
Yeah. Murray was hunting him on switches near the end, but that wasn’t MPJ’s fault. He had to be absolutely exhausted after carrying the entire scoring load for 4 quarters
Best case scenario, MPJ goes off (wish he hit 40 though), Nuggets get the W. The battered nuggets keep cooking.
Why couldn’t he do this against OKC ☠️
Dudes shoulder was toast
He didn’t have a shoulder. Nuggets obv win that series without injuries since there isn’t anyone okc could have put on him (healthy) given their jokic defensive scheme.
The way this season has gone for the Nuggets, MPJ probably would’ve dealt with another shoulder injury out of pure luck if he stayed.
Literally couldnt raise his arm above his head without pain from what i remember reading
You didn’t notice the huge patch on his shoulder last playoffs?
He was basically playing in a sling lmao..
Love how he’s completely forgone dribble and become a cutting, relocation and C&S machine regardless of the playmaking quality around him
I don’t get how some players are allergic to driving
He never dribbled lol
13⁄28* FG, slight difference…
Lmao statement game
Props to MPJ this game, he really kept the game from being a blowout with how everyone else on the Nets was scoring.
Porter’s potential gets reliazed when he gets to the Nets because of course…
Glad to see MPJ balling out.
It was crazy how people acted like his poor shooting in the playoffs was because he sucked, when it was ridiculously obvious he had a shoulder injury.
How many assists though
Send him to Detroit
Well of course, its January, not April/May
Jokic was holding this dude back the entire time wow
Imagine not being able to win a ring with Maxey, Harden and an elite supporting cast
“an elite supporting cast” lol.
