they didn’t give co ROTY to Donovan Mitchell and Ben Simmons. No way Coop and KK share it. I was screaming Mitchell was the better rookie that year, but it seemed predetermined to give to Ben before the season even started. Ben Simmons had a good Rockies season, but the eye test was impossible to ignore. Mitchell was a star after the first month of the season and didn’t slow down through the playoffs.

Kon’s usage is lower though. The stuff Cooper is asked to do on offense is wild for a 19 year old. Most of the time, Kon is able to play off ball and has other shooters around. That’s not a knock on him, what he is doing is amazing, but holy hell is Cooper asked to do too much.

I’ll probably get downvoted for this, but Cooper could legitimately end up better than Luka. He has young LeBron level scoring with near DPOY level defense. Watching our guys literally run away from him in the paint was both incredible and infuriating.

The #1 “Generational Prospect” doesn’t always win ROY. Add in the situation Dallas has with their 2026 first, and I thought Flagg would spend the season in bubble wrap.

No rookie has ever gotten 50/40/90. Only like 7 guys have gotten it ever in nba history with more than 19 ppg.

Doesn’t need to make playoffs. I think a split like that will give him the ROY given he is pulling 19 ppg

Roty is always based on individual stats. Playoffs aren’t counted cuz most of the time roty are on bad teams

Kon definitely isn’t reserved. Hes just very locked in when hes on the court and his role and situation are different. Flagg is the focus of that offense right now and with Kyrie and AD both injured hes the center of attention too and the de facto captain. Kon is playing next to Lamelo and Brandon Miller and the personality of the Hornets group right now doesnt lend to having a single player taking on that leadership role
