I unironically think we’d miss him and he would be very effective in an offense with Steph and Giannis. He’s never going to be a star but he could develop into an elite role player.

No, 2026 is not the valuable pick. 2030 is very valuable as Steph/Draymond will most likely be retired, Giannis will be 34 or on another team, and GSW wouldn’t have good young players since they traded away all their picks and draft 2nd rounders every year.

For sure. I actually think people down on this deal are undervaluing what a haul of post-steph/kerr/dray picks would be worth.

I gotta imagine Giannis is more interested in Toronto for exactly this reason. With Warriors he’s just setting himself up to be moved in like 2-3 years when it all finally comes crashing down. Toronto has a younger core that is solid and could theoretically contend until the end of his career.

People also still haven’t accepted that the return for Giannis is inherently going to be an underpay. There’s nobody who can actually afford what he realistically “should” cost without gutting their entire roster, in which case there’s no point in acquiring him.

There is no realistic deal that sounds good on paper.

I don’t really understand how people are making this argument about the “post curry picks” and totally omitting the fact they receive Giannis back in the trade.

I also think everyone is hand-waving the “when Steph is gone” part. We have no idea how long he’ll be peak. He’s an insane shooter that doesn’t rely on athleticism. His game should age extraordinarily well, especially when Giannis can up the usage and help on the defensive end. Those “post steph” picks may not be post-steph
