I just don’t think that’s as important as other people do, particularly when you can’t exploit that with playmaking to get your teammates better shots, which he can’t really do, which is why he’s used the way you say he is. He is a last resort shot maker for when your normal offense doesn’t work, which is valuable to have, especially in the playoffs.

Scottie and RJ are infinitely less talented at scoring, but make way better decisions with the basketball. I saw RJ have a 15 assist game against us at the Garden last year, I’ll be damned if BI ever gets double digit assists in a game ever. There’s a reason your offense is 5.5 points/100 possessions better with RJ on the floor vs. off.

HUGE difference between “doesn’t play defense” and “has some defensive limitations compared to elite defenders at the position.”

Jokic, Luka, etc, THOSE are guys that don’t play defense. Domas plays very physical on the defensive end and has actually excellent foot speed and lateral quickness for a center. He handles switches onto smaller players better than most centers in the league and has consistently been an overall positive defender by basically any metric. The only thing he can’t really do is block shots at the rim.

It’s not complicated on Toronto’s side. They see a wide-open East, and frankly, a pretty muddled West, too. And they don’t have a playable center. They’re the 4th seed, and 1 game out of the #2 spot. They are sitting on one of the worst contracts in the league.

So maybe they can get a very good center, and ditch that contract, and take their chances in a wide-open league – much like they did in 2019. And if the cost is only a good player at a position of strength, and some draft capital, well, that’s not a bad gamble.

It’s hard to win if you never take a chance.

We’re 18-7 when he plays and 11-12 when he sits this year. His slashing opens up our offence like crazy, and he can put up 20/5/5 on any given night, although his three-ball and defence aren’t super noteworthy. Yes, its definitely a rebuild year for Sixers. Sixers have a more expensive roster than Raptors, they also have a much older roster, and finally they don’t own all of their picks. They are paying 3 max contracts. But its definitely a rebuild year for them. Just because Sixers were trash last year doesn’t make it a rebuilding year. I don’t think you even get to keep you draft pick this year.
