Jake Fischer: “There’s absolutely some type of framework that’s being discussed and has been discussed between Golden State and Miami to send Jonathan Kuminga to the Heat and bring Andrew Wiggins back to the Warriors”
I don’t understand why Miami would do this, Wiggins is a flat-out better player
so they can open up the cap space to finish 2nd for the next available superstar
yeah but at least they’d be ‘in the mix’…
Don’t worry im sure the suns and wolves can rest on their pedigrees until their next championships
You sound butthurt?
Genuine question for the group. Is “butthurt”homophobic?
Meanings of words change over time, but originally the term likely referred to how a child feels after a spanking.
Just like sleepy pat rests knowing he brought Miami a championship and no longer has to make any moves whatsoever
Bro im good with the three in my life, you got any?
Yes im 65 years old
Great, then I hope you’re 1⁄3 as fulfilled in your basketball watching, champ
I saw paul milsap score 11 in the last 28 seconds. That was fulfilling.
Glad for you A chip is definitely better lol
2nd behind 5th place. That’s how it usually goes
2nd in a 1 team race.
It would be Kuminga, Hield, and a pick (probably a protected 1st) for Wiggins.
Miami would do it because they don’t want to pay Wiggins $30M next year.
I can’t see the warriors giving up a pick for Wiggins. They know what this team looks like with Wiggins as the second option. It doesn’t do anything
It’s so we can get him into the system for next year when we either trade Jimmy or have him. Also Wiggins as a second option won the Warriors a championship fyi.
And then he was absolute garbage for the next couple years for the warriors. He had one great post season run. Then he did absolutely nothing (literally for almost an entire season) for the next couple years. A 15ppg scorer is not a second option.
Wiggins was the second best player on that run. He was NOT the second option. He locked tf in on defense and rebounded like he was prime Rodman. That was his contribution to winning but he stopped that effort right after the win.
Umm no. He wasn’t the second option. Poole and Klay were ahead of him in the pecking order in terms of scoring.
Once those guys left and Wiggins was into that second option, the warriors were a 500 team at best.
Wiggins was second highest scorer on Dubs during the Finals https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/nba-2022-finals-player-stats
Wiggs also was 2nd in shot attempts behind Steph…
You are looking at 6 games vs the whole year. He was the 3rd or 4h option for most of the year
He made the all-star team that year.
The point is there’s no one on this roster close to as good as Poole or Klay offensively
Poole is a head-case who makes boneheaded plays and Klay is washed.
Kumimga and the Warrior’s pick would more palatable to have in a trade package for a star compared to Wiggins as well. I like the move but it does make the team worse in the short term.
not really that we dont wanna pay him next year, im perfectly fine having him on the team or working out an extension with him
but if a team is willing to pay for him then its worth losing him for profit. especially since we have a bunch of young wings that could use an influx of minutes.
They gonna trade Jimmy’s buddy?
And trade Jimmy for Giannis if they’re allowed to.
But then why would the Warriors do that??
Wiggins has a player option this offseason. They probably don’t want to invest long term in him
Miami is all about keeping luxury tax down as well.
Miami really doesn’t pay for mid teams.
huh? yea when it makes sense too, like any other team?
y do ppl act like our team is cheap when we’ve been a top 5 spender for 2 decades
They would be fits the team well lol
It wouldn’t be a straight swap (well you wouldn’t think….)
Well Wiggins is making like8-9 more. Warriors going to have to throw more than just 1 for 1
Buddy or Moody fit into Miami’s trade exception.
Maybe Spo can fix him
He definitely fits the heat system way more tbh
the current one for sure, iso’s and quick shots, running in transition
theres a world hes a productive player
“All the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put Humpty together again.”
JK doesn’t need fixing, he just needs a coach to believe in him
lol. Respect is earned not given. JK just doesn’t want to have to earn a coach’s trust.
Podz hasn’t done anything to earn respect yet Kerr loves him like a son lol
Podz is a good player who doesn’t mess with Kerr’s pet peeves like Jk: lackadaisical rebounding (until this season), giving up back cuts, stopping the ball movement on offense.
JK led team in rebounding and Kerr DNPs him anyways so what does it matter lol
JK even has a better FT% than Podz this season
uhh have you seen Podz play defense? he is horrendous
yea cause someone has to actually shoot the ball before the shot clock runs out. JK is one of the few guys who can actually create his own shot so they give it to him in those situations
Could be draft capital involved in a 3 way deal. If they could flip him for a first say, straight Kuminga swap then move him to a 3rd team for a first. You are right tho, Wiggins fits this team perfectly the way it is.
The only reason Miami would do this is if Golden State gives Miami their 2026 pick. That would free up all of Miami’s future picks. We currently owe our 2027 to Charlotte for the Rozier trade and that’s locking up our 2028 pick as well, so we can only give up 2 future picks right now. If Giannis finally becomes available, we’ll need more. I imagine that’s Miami’s thinking
Getting a 2026 pick wouldn’t have any effect on their ability to trade a 2028 pick.
Well right now their 2027 pick is conveying to Charlotte which locks up their 2028 pick for trades because of Stepien. If they get another 2026 pick from GS, they can now trade a 2026 pick and their 2028.
Or they could just get a 2027 from GS and that frees up both 26 and 28 for trades as well. Probably an easier solution.
This moves the needle for neither team they both stay the exact same Mid
It’ll move a little bit then stabilize to mediocrity after a few games.
Nah, it’s great for the Warriors. It’ll let them make a big move with Jimmy’s salary and picks or just keep Jimmy and have a better team waiting for him.
Miami gets a clean cap sheet and a pick this summer.
What are 38yr old steph and 37yr old fresh off a acl injury jimmy competing for next year
A championship obviously. The odds aren’t great, but they aren’t zero like a lot of other teams.
Kuminga can act as a trade piece and expiring salary or at worst a player that can develop into next year. You get flexibility and upside with Kuminga. Wiggins is slightly overpaid and got a whole year(player option) on his deal.
Kuminga is younger and has a better contract situation
Also hard to say kuminga’s regressed when golden state is virtually sabotaging him
it won’t be any different in Miami spo will put him in the dog house for the same shit unless kuminga changes. Ware has been in and off the bench and publicly called out.
Kuminga really has no choice but to buy in. He’s on a contract year and can’t risk fucking things over with the two most respected current coaches in the nba.
Always wanted to know what Mike Ditka and Nick Wright would look like if they were one person.
Probably a super mid reporter at ESPN.
Wiggins welcome back my king
Keep dreaming
Not saying it is going to happen at all, but I can imagine JK could thrive in a rebuilding Miami and I can see him liking Miami the city. Wiggs has seemed happy there but what an easy fit it would be to have him back in the Bay.
If Kuminga couldn’t handle Kerr yelling at him about his lack of hustle and defense, how is he going to handle Heat Culture? Dude has looked broken at times over the last couple years.
how could JK not handle it? according to all his teammates, JK has been a consummate professional
also Spo actually has a reputation for developing young players unlike Kerr
Tell that to our sub and see what reaction you get. Spo doesn’t play rookies until they earn it. They can miss shots but if don’t do the specific things he asks for like miss assignments, don’t box out, lazy play they’ll sit on the bench look at ware.
JK wouldn’t mind the Heat grind. Kerr is closer to Phil than Pops, he’s not really into developing players, has a short leash. Spo is miles ahead when it comes to refining flawed players and squeezing blood from stone.
Having said that, trade doesn’t make sense for Miami unless it’s for the Giannis sweepstakes.
yea i dont think this trade would be about kuminga as much as he’s just the salary that makes it work. miami’s doing it for watever pick the warriors r willing to give and gs never wanted to trade wiggs in the first place
Could definitely see that. JK’s contract is essentially an expiring. But having watched JK’s career, it’s interesting to imagine how he’d survive Spo.
Hard to say, but part of the Kuminga issue is that he’s on a team of veterans trying to contend at the end of their window. Everything he does has to come in sacrifice for Curry, Green, Butler, and on down the line. Every time he screws up, he’s on the bench for a month.
In Miami, he might get chewed out more, but he’ll get opportunities as well. At least the harsh criticism will come with “now go out and try it again.” Having the leash of consistent playing time and not being pushed into a bench rider role might make him take the feedback more and grow from it.
I personally don’t hate give spo a player with kuminga’s talent
Obviously I would have zero expectations of him being good if he got benched in gs but u never know
The fan base is constantly up in arms with Ware/Spo. You’d have basically that scenario x2.
i have expectations for ware, i have no expectations for kuminga and we have better young wings
we dont exactly have a ton of young centers waiting on the roster lol
[deleted]
Not if he’s falling asleep on defense and driving into 2 defenders only be stripped for the 3rd time in the game.
Podz does that multiple times every game and still gets 20-30+ minutes
shit Podz turns the ball over without even any defensive pressure
Our problem is we have too many players who deserve minutes. We really really really need to consolidate.
If Kuminga has the low BBIQ that Kerr hates him for, he isn’t going to succeed in Miami. I imagine it’s more of a moneyball/asset kind of move if we get Kuminga and a pick. And if Kuminga turns out good? Even better
Hey Miami, why? Wiggs has a better IQ, can shoot, defend consistently and not a diva.
Clean cap sheet for Miami and a first probably this summer. Helps them go star chasing.
We also have young wings that have been playing very well in jaime and pelle larson plus a logjam at both guards spots, so I wouldn’t mind trading wiggins for a first. We could use size at the 4 and our drive kick iso offense might better suit kuminga.
I assume theirs some kind of draft package going to miami either a first or swap. This largely a money move by Miami while taking a chance on a damaged asset. He’s not really the kind of player riley or spo likes.
It’s mostly a money move and a swing on Kuminga. Y’all would probably get this year’s pick unprotected.
Wiggins can opt out this summer and Kuminga can’t is the long and short of it.
If Miami thinks Wiggins will opt out then they want to keep the salary slot as that is how they always operate.
Wiggs will not opt out lol
I’d say it’s more them worrying that Wiggins won’t opt out. They want flexibility.
Kuminga isn’t a diva lol, if you were DNPd 16 times in a row you’d want to get traded too. By all accounts he’s a really nice fella.
His agent is desperately trying to get him traded and putting out stories like this or begging talk shows to have another segment, etc.
But…i kinda doubt he gets traded. In all these potential trades that this sub likes, the warriors (who have no chance of winning this year w/o Jimmy) have to take on long term bad money or attach draft capital. Thats 100% not happening if you look at their FO. They’d rather sit Steph and let JK tank command than make a bad situation worse. They can just let JK go for free in the summer if it’s really untenable. Best case scenario for them, Kuminga puts up his 22/5/2 or whatever and the warriors end up with a better asset and a better draft pick to trade.
Pelle Larson can do most of what Wiggins does for cheap. If they can get 1 more 1st it will be another tool to go star hunting. Also Jaime has been good also fyi
I mean it won’t make a huge difference for the Dubs this season, but getting Wiggins’ production in exchange for the next to nothing we’re getting from JK would be a minor win. That said, I love Wiggins and would welcome him and his radiant smile back with open arms.
Soooo who gets picks in this deal? Wiggins is definitely the more valuable player in my opinion
The Heat easily. Wiggins is the better player and from the POV of the Heat, I’m taking on a high risk project player whom the Warriors treat as less than a rando GLeague journeyman. A late first or 2 seconds from the Warriors seem fair.
Miami was rumored to be asking LA for Rui + a 1st for Wiggins, so I can’t see them asking for less when Rui is a better player than JK
Miami for sure. I wouldn’t really mind it honestly. In the long view, it basically becomes JK+Schroeder+2 picks in exchange for Butler and shared custody of Wiggins for this season and last.
Don’t know if it will be picks. Both players don’t have long deals nor are they an issue on their current team. Well cough JK maybe. But he’s a short contract.
Average delulu warriors fan.
Dread it. Run from it. Kuminga trade rumors still arrive.
Miami would be dumb to do this honestly
The upside is you’ll be getting a 23 year old with alot of potential
nah the upside is the 1st round pick
Lookup the 1st round draft picks for the last 10 years and calculate how many are in the league.
not a lot but wiggs is not the difference between us winning the chip or not this season and we need to stockpile assets cuz the biggest thing we need rn is a 1st option
we got dogpiled for trying to trade for stars without the assets and now its unbelievable that we might sell a valuable player for future assets?
He doesn’t have a lot of potential. Being a low bbiq isolation scorer doesn’t mean he has upside.
While I’d love to have Wiggs back, the extra player(s) needed to do the deal would really hurt our already not-so-good roster.
Kuminga is an expiring $24 million - that’s his value. And then maybe a long shot he turns out to be good in a different system. JK plus the Warriors 26 pick is a good deal for both teams.
top 10 protection probably on the pick, otherwise its a likely pick ~15 or so.
Sounds like code for Miami wanting a first round draft pick, and Golden State wanting Miami to think that Kuminga is a lot better than he actually is instead.
JK is definitely better than he actually is under Kerr
He isnt ever going to average 20 or even close to one a good team. You’re not going anywhere with him as your 2nd option or dare I say third
who’s trying to make him a 2nd/3rd option?
he is a solid role player and can get you buckets in a hurry
Then he’d be doing that for the warriors. He’s had 5 years to prove it. Don’t give me that it’s all on Kerr when he’s never done this to someone else before
and in those 5 years, he’s never gotten consistent minutes/role
his only consistent stretch he got was in 2024 only because other guys were injured and he averaged 19 on 55% for 40+ games. then it was straight back to benching and DNPs
Empty stars 90% of the time
Probably, but if you’re Miami, are you willing to value him that way? Seems like the Warriors need this trade more than the Heat do.
Warriors def need it more but I don’t think Spo would have a problem with developing another young guy on the same timeline as their core. Wiggins is slightly past that
So the warriors plan is to rebuild their 2024 team?
Nope
Miami would be smart to re-route Kuminga to a third team before he tanks his value even more
“And where did that bring you? Back to me.”
- Thanos Andrew Wiggins
Is Shaun Livingston not available????
This is classic warriors behavior lol, Wiggins for Kuminga is such a slap to the face of both guys. Idc if its business. They won a chip w each other
Wiggins to Steph is how Kyrie is to LeBron at the point, ship sailed long ago yet every once a while someone spits out BS trade scenarios to “reunite” them
Why would you trade a valuable piece for possibly negative value in Kuminga? For cap space to get someone worse than Wiggins?
Wiggins is no star but he’s a super valuable role player + i would argue Wiggins is in the middle of his most valuable time as a player. He was negative value in his younger years due to age, maturity and lack of experience.
Don’t make sense for the Heat even with a 2026 first that will not be a lottery one.
This isn’t how I thought he looked like
Would Milwaukee want Kuminga, Herro, two 1sts, and two swaps for Giannis? Genuinely asking if that’s reasonable.
will this affect Bron coming to GS though
Fake fuckin News lmao
