Injuries happen man. Shit sucks but to see ppl try to literally change the 65 game rule in real time for this man is what’s really crazy.
I’ve seen the exact opposite. Even the nuggets subreddit is saying “rules are rules”.
I think the majority of people were always reasonable about it, and understand that changing the rule like this because he got injured is lame, be them Jokic or Nuggets fans

The bad part about the 65 game rule is the (hypothetical) scenario where someone misses out on All NBA with 64ish games played and it goes to someone who played 65 or 66 games at a comfortably worse level. Everyone would agree that playing 82 games is more valuable than 60, but when the question is 64 vs 66 games it’s a lot more of a grey area
I mean i guess it means other players who would never make an all NBA to make one and get payed more
They have exceptions in place if you are close to that 65 game threshold. So, I’m not sure what you’re positing here?

It shouldn’t count for all nba just mvp because players who play less than 65 never win mvp anyways. But all nba just doesn’t make much sense to me. If there is going to be a requirement for all nba it should be like 45-50 games.

Jokic is literally the antithesis of the load management era. For 10 years the dude has played through a variety of injuries, on back to backs, tough away out of conference games that don’t matter, etc… The rule wasn’t for him, it’s for Lebron having Sciatica on the 2nd night of b2b, Embiid being out @Denver every year, all star starters not playing @OKC on national TV night.
If anyone deserves a break from the rule, it’s Jokic. That said, i don’t really have a problem with the rule for MVP (only 1 MVP has won playing <65 games), it’s just a bummer he won’t make All-NBA

There are exactly 4 more games before Tuesday (a week from now)… if he comes back for Tuesdays game, then he will be at 18 total games missed, just enough to make him lose Award eligibility.
But, if he can somehow come back Sunday for the Thunder game, and then plays the rest of the season, he would be at exactly 65 games, and he would still be eligible for Awards.
The Memphis-Denver game being postponed actually helped keep his eligibility alive longer. If any more of their games get postponed this week it would keep his eligibility alive.
Honestly, awards do not matter. It’s more important that he makes a full recovery than getting rushed back for the all stars.

I think all the talk about all-nba this year with Jokic and Giannis both missing, maybe even Luka who has missed I believe 8 or 9 games already will start to create a debate around should all-nba be the best players of the year and include the threshold or not.
I do think you have to play games to be in the most “valuable” conversation. After all, any game you miss you give literally 0 value to the team and that adds up after a while.
But with these guys who are clearly the best in the league, should the standard be removed for all nba? Idk honestly, I could see both arguments.

Not exactly a bad thing, of course. His shot quality has been enormously better with Jokic on the floor this season and their lineups have a 131 offensive rating and 67.5% true shooting.
