[Zach Lowe] “Charlotte’s a hell of a lot of fun, man. Charlotte’s a good NBA city, a good NBA market, with good fans and cool uniforms—not the Creamsicle ones they’re wearing now and then. It’s just good for the NBA.”
Buzz Buzz bitches
Paul george still wont go
And we were so looking forward to having him. Shame.
Probably got stung by a bee when he was a kid.
So sad that my franchise can’t overpay a guy who scores 15 PPG on 41% shooting
Melo is averaging 19 tho
We’ve got Paul George at home
He’s right. I’ve lived in Charlotte for a half a year now, and lived near the area for about 4 years. It’s been solid. City has a bit of everything. The arena is really nice, and is apparently even getting more renovations done.
If the Hornets actually turn this franchise around for once, then I don’t see why free agents wouldn’t want to come here.
I grew up in Charlotte. I remember back in the day my dad going to games. Apparently at one point, the hornets had the record for sold out home games
Yeah they were very popular. Then the owner at the time got caught for sex crimes and it kinda shattered the fanbase support (along with all the fan favorites moving elsewhere).
When it came time to try to push for a new arena the people didn’t really support it, which is why the owner left to New Orleans.
It’s always funny when an owner turns out to be a shithead and people say to boycott the team. My city did that and they moved the team lol
Remember when getting caught for sex crimes was enough to shatter public support?
Charlotte is genuinely a gem of a city. Awesome place that’s not crawling with bachelorette parties, wannabe influencers, and weird tech bros with daddy’s money acting like they’ll reinvent the world like some of the other more famous southern destinations…
It’s a good place, good people, and good food. Really my only issue with it was North Carolina is a swing state now and having never lived in one before, I never want to live in one again. I was there for the “bathroom bill” and 2016 as well as some of the ramp up to 2020 and I gotta tell you I have no clue how people do it.
If you live in a swing state god bless you because dear lord. If you don’t live in one, just imagine a full year where all personal injury attorneys, all pharmaceutical companies, and all car dealers give their ad time to the candidates and all you see are the same 4 commercials for every YouTube ad, every commercial break, every shitty website you wish you hadn’t clicked because the ads are breaking your phone.
Anyway….Charlotte is actually awesome. Just got lost in the soapbox.
The issue is that the climate during winter is terrible since it’s freezing.
Maybe for someone from California it is. But quick google search says Charlottes coldest month is January with an average temp of 34-52. Which for a lot of us is “yeah it’s a bit cold today” to “probably need to throw a hoodie on”
Those California transplants always whine about the winter. It’s been terribly dry in Utah and they’re cheering that fact. I’m happy you’re happy but prepare for severe water shortages for 9 months, dumb fucks.
Haha. Made me legitimately lol. Thanks Buttfucker_3000
You know that’s true for so many teams right? And Charlottes winter is very mild compared to other places
An avg high of 11C in January is nowhere near freezing lol
A buddy of mine just went there close to Christmas shit was like 20C the whole time he was there
And I thought Lakers fans had bad NBA takes lmao. Turns out their weather takes are just as wild
Don’t leave California much, do you?
You know Charlotte is the south right
I mean, if the weather is ever a problem it’s in the Summer when it’s a million degrees plus 85% humidity
I just want a healthy run for them.
Kon is so good bruh
I really need Miles Bridges to stop existing so I can just enjoy them
Get Eric Collins on the pod please
Someone did a great interview with him recently going over how he preps for games and his whole routine. A crazy watch. Did is the Steph Curry of commentators
where watch
hes been on
NBA sub making me blush and shit
The offense is an absolute blast to watch. At times it can be a buzzsaw, you look up and your team is down 20 and you didn’t even realize it.
Imagine they land Cam Boozer. #scaryhours
I will talk significantly less shit the minute they sign a top 15 center to a multi year deal. They haven’t been able to do that in like 10 fucking years. I can’t think of a longer positional drought in the nba.
Well I just the thing for you: a top 15 center really wanting a multi year deal, it’s like a match made in heaven!
Moose!!!
I’d love to sign a top 15 player at any position. The last time we even got to try that, Gordon Hayward’s career fell off a cliff
Is there any way to watch his and Bills pods sailing high seas?
Sucks cuz the guy that calls pg the goat plays for the team lmao
Good fans? Every time the celtics play in Charlotte it’s over 50% Boston fans. I get there’s a lot of NE transplants in NC but Charlotte has been this way forever
No fan wants to spend their hard-earned money and time watching a roster packed with guys like Nick Smith Jr., Bryce McGowens, JT Thor, Leaky Black, and Nathan Mensa when stars like LaMelo Ball and Mark Williams are out for the season. But seeing how many people showed up the other day despite the bad weather, I’m confident the fan base is only going to get more active from here.
“It was hopeless, the Charlotte Bobcats would never mean anything to anybody.”
I’ve hated every game the Raptors have played against them and that’s a compliment. Brandon Miller has figured it out.
Simmons League Pass ranking vindication
As a Heat fan living at Charlotte, my ability to get cheap seats when they visit may be coming to an end.
Knicks here, and same
Eh, I’m still not taking Charlotte seriously until a) Miles Bridges is gone and b) LaMelo Ball is traded.
If you listened to the segment, review how they didn’t even mention Bridges except very briefly. I’ve noticed nobody in NBA media really wants to mention him anymore. Gee, wonder why? He’s still a basketball terrorist. We all know the real reason why nobody will mention him though.
And as far as LaMelo is considered: in this segment Zach cherry-picked stats so hard. He claimed LaMelo is a great offensive player… Despite not improving in efficiency at all, and therefore becoming even more inefficient relative to an ever-improving offensive environment. He used Charlotte’s positive +/- with him on the court this season… While entirely ignoring this is the first time in years LaMelo has had a positive +/-. It’s more likely a fluke, because like I said, no progression has been shown in his efficiency or turnover rates. It’s much more likely Kon Knueppel, who has been All-Star-level good but for some reason is not getting full credit and hype, is responsible for Charlotte’s improved play, as well as Charlotte finally having a decent center rotation, and LaMelo’s wildly positive +/- this year is more noise than signal.
I think Charlotte is close to being a good team worth taking seriously… Once they delete those two unserious players from their team.
Downvote away, I have tons of fake Internet points.
I agree about Miles Bridges but as someone who has watched Melo his entire Hornets career, even through the dark days because I’m a sicko, he is a winning player and fits our team perfectly. He also sets up Kon perfectly, as Kon shoots much better when Melo is on the floor. There’s no reason to trade Melo, nor does any rational fan in our fanbase want him gone.
That guy clearly does not watch the games.
Well, there’s not really any reason to trade him because a) the team would still need a point guard and b) he has no trade value. Read between the lines and I believe the Hornets have already surreptitiously shopped him. They know he has no trade value. So you pretend like you’re courageously “sticking by” LaMelo. It’s just a face-saving mechanism.
I bet you they won’t be giving him another max, though. If they do, they’re completely stupid and will never go anywhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if in the future reports say the Hornets won’t extend him, Ball gets in his feelings about it, and podcasts start talking about LaMelo Ball’s next team. For now and, let’s say, the next two seasons, keeping him and being the “bad entertaining team” suits Charlotte’s needs.
I don’t feel like you are watching the games and are just watching stats. Lamelo plays with a pace that has fueled the Hornets surge this season. No other guard on the team can handle the ball the way he does and initiate the offense. Yesterday when Charlotte went up 50, they subbed in tre Mannn and sexton and it was an iso turnover fest for a whole quarter allowing the 6ers to outscore them by a massive amount in the fourth. Lamelo is the engine that gets Kon and Brandon their shots. Lamelo may be a streaky shooter but his ball handling, fast breaks, pace, and just being a true floor general are what makes this team go. There just aren’t enough solid PG in the league to trade him away. At some point you have to take the flaws and improve other areas of the team.
When did I say another point guard on the Hornets was better than LaMelo? You’re not even reading and comprehending what I’m saying, you’re just responding like a typical defensive fan.
Lamelo is #15 in EPM which is probably the best advanced state for assessing player value. So yeah for non-stupid teams he should have plenty of trade value
Here’s the dirty secret about NBA sabermetrics: there is no best “one fits all” stat. You must actually understand what the stat is attempting to measure and what its limitations are.
So let’s say you’re right. Let’s take what you’re saying at face value.
You think Derrick White has been a top 10 player this season?
I expect mental gymnastics in your response.
you didn’t but if they were to trade him they would need a PG at the level or better than him.
That’s why I said you’re not reading and comprehending what I said. I already covered that.
do you actually watch hornets games? like did you watch yesterday
Logical fallacy: whataboutism. Look, dude, you’re entitled to your opinion. As I am to mine. I have nothing to prove to you. Feel free to downvote and go about your business. I’m not arguing with you. I don’t care. I’m blocking you now and going about my day. Have a good one.
