Athleticism isn’t linear and also often misjudged. Most people think that being athletic = jump high, run fast. Which is only one part of it.

Luka is athletic as hell. He can put the brakes on like no one else. The way he makes some of those crazy passes like a whip highlights his strength and dexterity as well.

He just isn’t nearly as athletic as some of the biggest athletic freaks in the NBA

like maybe hang-time means the feeling that someone has more time in the air, because of how fully they make use that time.

so MJ had unparalleled hang-time because, in addition to his prodigious leaping ability, he could make a myriad of minor adjustments to his shot in the air, & often released it late.

if you take this view, you could argue that luka has merely good hang time, because he has amazing shot adjustment skills & the ability to release it late, but only average leaping ability.
