Very. We can’t blame injuries either. I feel like our depth is good enough to survive a number of games without key players, but the effort and heart isn’t there. If a team is remotely competent, then we eventually give the game up with terrible decision making. It’s even worse because Paolo is into a great groove right now and besides Black and Bane, no one else is capable of having a good night alongside him.

I think mostly it’s because the injured Cavs game plan has stabilized. Lonzo was awful early in the year and had has his minutes cut drastically. More Craig Porter Jr and Jaylon Tyson has helped. Wade had a rough start and Mobley is playing better too.

Just a lot of small adjustments. Also we actually are healthier than one of the stretches we had early on… lol you don’t remember us playing Chris Livingston straight out of the G league against you guys?

Plus, we have 3 of our 4 main guys, we were missing two for a while. I know Allen doesn’t show up too much on the box score but he does contribute a lot (certainly much more than anyone else who would play in his absence).

Kinda a combination of factors. Mobley’s starting to figure things out a little bit as a ball handler and lots of younger guys developing into meaningful rotational guys. Tyson, Tomlin, CPJ and even Proctor are all starting to find their groove, Hunter and Lonzo have been bumped down in the rotation, also having Dean Wade back has been huge

The link you posted has the Cavs tied for 7th in the league in total wins. They’re 13th in d rating. But you are right that they’re better ranked in d rating than the Knicks, nets and hornets. This guy doesn’t know what d rating is and only looks at ppg. Ignores the fact that the Cavs play at one of the highest paces in the league and will thus give up more points than teams that play in lower paced games.

They weren’t playing hard for the first month or 2. They play at a top 10 temp and those teams are all bottom 10. They’ve had some defenders playing big roles for the first time and they struggled early. Lots of guys in and out has led to lack of rhythm at times.

You realize that points per game doesn’t matter at all right? Defensive rating is points per 100 possessions. Like holy shit you actually know nothing about basketball. If a team scores on a possession the other team will get possession of the ball faster, if that happens more throughout the game than there will be more points scored by the opposing team… no one uses points per game for anything, not even for offense does it make sense.

Ppg is a dumb metric to solely use to evaluate defense. Yeah they give up more points per game than the Knicks cuz the Cavs have the 7th highest pace in the league and the Knicks have the 22nd highest pace. Theres less possessions in Knicks games than Cavs games. D rating factors in pace and is a better indication of good or bad defenses. Cavs are 13th and Knicks are 18th.

If one team gives up 110 points in 100 possessions and another team gives up 111 points in 110 possessions, which team had the better defense?
