Turns out I’ve been right for the past few years that our core had huge potential and they were just constantly injured

They remind me a lot of that 2020 Suns team before they traded for CP3. They still weren’t good, but they were finally competitive and could pull off a couple of upsets when they were clicking.

They have a lot of talent, just seems like they need to figure out their identity and someone, if not Lamelo, has to step up and be a top 20 player.

They are def better as of late but I’m still pretty skeptical of how we perform vs actual good teams. Aside from the thunder everyone we’ve blown out kinda has question marks surrounding them. Still a good sign we can actually beat ppl who were supposed to cause we used to struggle with that too.

Good or not they are FUN to watch.

People who act like “small market” - or whatever you’d call Charlotte - teams have zero chance to ever break out in a way that has any sort of national impact. They forget or don’t know about the 90s Hornets Starter jackets era.

I was there for it but I still don’t fully understand wtf happened. LJ was one of my first favorite players, but neither he, Muggsy, or Mourning were as popular as Lamelo seems to be now. They were a good team but they were never particularly close to being the BEST team. Despite that, for some reason they were suddenly maybe the 4th or 5th most popular NBA team during the mid 90s.

The Pacers last year was a small market success team and they definitely stole our hearts during the playoffs last year, but somehow they didn’t seem to come out of it all with any sort of bandwagon type fan contingency the way the Hornets did back then, while having much more success than the Hornets. Why does it seem like we aren’t going to have something like this happen again, but if it does, is there a chance that it’s Charlotte again? It seemed unlikely the first time it happened, too.

2025 draft picks from hornet puttin in mad work, rookie class and all 3 of em are nba/starter ready. Huge achievement from the Hornets org.

For reference, last season’s Pistons didn’t reach a positive point differential until Feb. 11, and it took beating the Bulls by 40 to finally get there. While the Pistons were 28-26 at the time, it was a notable milestone in their upward trend.

Hornets are building something good, right now, as odd as that is to say haha.

They’re such a fun team to watch, I can’t help but root for them as the underdogs. Especially when they have blowout games against better teams. Wishing that franchise success and can’t wait to see what a true contending Hornets team looks like.

I just hope they turn into a good team soon. The fanbase deserves it, they’ve been suffering for too long.

What would make them favorites to win the East? One more lottery pick? Two? I think if they get a top 3 pick as well as a deep bench and some playoff experience they could win a title in the next 3-6 years.

Bill Simmons will always have this over Zach Lowe, he had Charlotte at 8th best League Pass team (fun to watch, not power rankings) while Zach had them like 23rd or lower. Albeit it’s mostly the Hornets having a massive Bill Simmons fan in Knueppel, but an accidental win is still a win.
