[Highlight] A Hornets fan banks in the halfcourt shot to win $1,000 (with replays). The halftime show was multiple Hornets fans try to make a halfcourt shot, and he was the only one to make it!
1k? GTFO
Hey give our owners some slack, they just recently spent $3 billion to buy the franchise, they don’t just have pocket change laying around
/s obv
Eventually these halftime show jackpots are just gonna be for a coupon for a free Bo-Berry biscuit from Bojangles (wouldn’t even be mad tho ngl)
Steph Curry ruining the game
They let like 10 different fans get a shot each for $1000
10k would have been more appropriate. At most what 2 people out of 10 somehow pull it off?
They do 10k shots like most franchises but they’ve started also doing this where they let 10 people shoot for 1k each. He was the only guy who hit it
The 10k should be split by the winners
This ain’t a hill I’m trying to die on but you’re also 10x more likely to have a winner which means you’re paying out 10x more. So as a business it doesn’t make any sense to do it that way.
10 people aren’t making that shot, let alone 2.
I think you misunderstood what he meant.
$10k pot, split between any winners.
10 winners? Each gets 1k
1 winner? They get 10k.
No they understand, their point is that one person has an x% chance to hit the shot so the arena (or realistically the insurance company) has an x% chance of paying 10k for any given halftime show. If you give ten players the chance to shoot and any one of them hitting it locks in the entire payout then the odds of paying out increases from x% to 10x% and the average payout per show increases tenfold.
(Technically the probability isn’t 10x it’s 1 - (1 - x)^10 but for small probabilities it’s close enough)
And my point is they can afford to give out 10k a game lol.
I got to do this at a Grizzlies game and it was for an Audi convertible lol. This is so cheap especially when the guy from the Spurs won $10k last night.
Lmao its a grand for shooting a basketball. I’d be stoked.
Some of y’all are allergic to ever being positive or ever having fun.
$1000? That’s gotta be one of the cheapest half court rewards in the league
Wasnt there a post yesterday where someone won \(10k on a half court shot? \)1000 is insanely cheap
Yea the Spurs game a guy got it off the top of the backboard for $10k
In the 90s a half court shot at MSG was $1 mil
Was in crypto that they’ll rug pull as soon as the guy gets it
poverty franchise poverty prizing
Poverty franchise, 3b valuation 😭
My local div 2 British basketball league gives £100 pounds (135$). And they play on the court of local Anytime Fitness with like 150 seats available.
Saw a video highlight of fan half court shots and saw a year of chicken nuggets or something as the lowest prize
This used to be 1M in the 90s lol
The Steph Curry effect
Tbf that was a full court shot and hyped up for months. This was half court and they let 10 fans do it a game. Still cheap though but not directly comparable.
Adjusted for inflation, I’m pretty sure you could buy about two hamburgers with that kind of money today.
But don’t even think about cheese
Love this economy
$1000?
Didn’t they use to give $50,000 or a car for these? This is reverse inflation.
Aren’t the hornets the team that tried to take that kids Ps5 last year
Yes… was wild
Yo wtf
Here is a link to the story

MFer just won 2 months of health insurance
This kills me lmaoo
Way less
Remember in 2013 when the fan hit a half court shot and won 75k, then Lebron ran and leapt into his arms?
Best moment of my life
That was a good shot man, proud of you
I wanna believe
That was you? Amazing shot man, congrats!
What? No I was talking about the day I saw the clip
lol went from 1m to 100k to 50k to cheap car ( 20k ish ) to 10k to 5k to 1k lol next will be a free Bojangles sandwich coupon.
Next time you need to pay 1k to try and the prize is slap on the ass
Also gotta factor that at each point, the dollar was less and less valuable. Those 1M prizes are like 3-4M today.
The Hornets franchise know how to have a good time, I swear, everytime I catch one of their games, it’s pure entertainment.
Seems like fans are hitting these at a higher rate nowadays. Pretty soon they’ll move it back to the other freethrow line
The shintaro midorima era
This game is a giant party lmfao
Even the Spurs (that were crying poverty for yet another taxpayer funded stadium) offer 10k!
You see the guy make it off the shot clock last Spurs game?
Ya! That was wild!
Cheap bastards. Dude in SA last night got $10k for doing the same thing.
1 person was given the chance to win 10k
Or 10 people were given the chance to win 1k each
10k is cooler when it happens, but I’d personally be more entertained by more shots and chances to win.
They had 10 people take the shot at half and he was the only one to make it. Got a good oh shit outta me🤣
Nice, he can finally get a beer and a hotdog from concession with that prize money
I was tryna figure out why he was so calm about then I realized it was only a band
That’s barely $600 after taxes lmao
Prizes getting skimpier and skimpier… pretty soon it’ll be for a $50 Shell Fuel Rewards card.
Add a zero on here come on
The Cavs do this too and it’s at least 10k per make. Which is still a lot lower than it used to be.
We’ve come a long way from when the Hornets were giving kids PS5’s only to take them back after they left the court
Let’s goooo I can pay 3⁄4 of my rent baby
Fuck than 1k when the league has been doing 10k shots from half court.
1k for a 3 pointer ONLY.
1k is poverty LOL.
He can afford groceries this month
Welp. It was a good run while it lasted. This is proof that it’s the Hornets’ league now.
Did they try to take the check from him afterwards like the PS5 from that kid at Christmas?
Did he need to bank it off the shot clock for the extra $9k!?!?
Great now he can afford a hotdog and two beers
And in a hoodie with a jersey on top? Crazy work.
The Miami guy who got tackled by Bron is still all-time
$1,000……the fuck
The Cavs do this for $10k and have 6 people try it. Most can’t get close to the hoop
The dude yesterday got 10k wtf.
Remember when they rescinded the PS5 from the kid?
$1000 so weak
Reactions to the prize money are freaking me out man lol
$1000? Are you kidding me? Thats some BS. Hornets broke with no culture.
$1k? Is this the same franchise that didn’t deliver on the PS5?
Back in the day, with a more valuable US Dollar mind you, these used to be at least tens of thousands of dollars in prizes. Economy is beyond f*cked if they’re not even giving rent money as a prize for this.
Pacers had a $500 half court just a few years ago
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/694JvDLlHO
Lmao so he won his money back that he spent on the date to the game?
It’s a hornets game.
it really feels the franchise has turned the corner
