That’s the issue. All of Minnesota’s salary is integral to the team. Unless they wanna move guys like Gobert, Reid, or McDaniel it wouldn’t have worked. It’s the reason they traded KAT.

Trae young would require Minnesota to send out major pieces like McDaniels, Gobert, Randle, or Reid they wouldn’t be contenders after.

yes and no. he’s valuable because he’s far more professional and available but he can’t play point guard. the wolves need someone who can take attention away from edwards and put Donte/Reid/Gobert in good positions to score. right now it’s just edwards trying to do both of those things.

Yeah, he’s fun to watch play, but he still has plenty of room for improvement. He has actually regressed as a playmaker this year. He is great at getting his own shot but isn’t great compared to other top offensive hubs this year/the recent past of creating great shots for his teammates.
That said, the TWolves can’t afford a “real” PG. Any PG upgrade will either a) hurt their defense too much to make it worth it or b) requires too many assets to acquire, assets they don’t have.
The team is perfectly fine as it is. They’re stuck with this team, for better and for worse.

Their defensive efficiency is .7 points away from tied for fourth. Their D is fine. There’s a lot of value in having a big lineup with no one obvious to attack. Sure, if you can get Coby White for the gutter trash they’re supposedly currently offering (multiple seconds, basically), you do it, but I don’t think that’s a real deal.
