it wasn’t because of turmoil or even fans demanding it. it was literally they didn’t have a security plan to deal with all the threats they were getting and protesters that would use the game as a platform. you know people run on the court etc…now imagine a dozen people trying it instead of the usual 1 or 2.
everything has to be rechecked and sorted from the refs to the player travel plans to the stadium. that is hard to do on a couple hours notice. that is what they said in the statement canceling the game.
Surely it helps to have something else to look at other than the news and violence as well. That’s a big part of sports. People need to escape this in what little ways they can right now

The government pays for that to happen. The second a league stops under this admin their anti trust exemption is pulled and they get divided. Military appreciation and flyovers and whatever are not free ventures done because the game is in the US. Tax payers are paying for an NFL flyover or whatever.
That being said Canadian NHL teams play the national anthem when playing each other. And it is customary in international games to play both.
I’ll stop you on the flyovers, they’re basically training missions. If the NFL banned flyovers, they’ll do it anyway in a military base or something, so it’s not an extra cost to the government.
