The Wizards are on an 8 game losing streak since trading away CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert for Trae Young who hasn’t played yet. Despite this, their net rating is only 0.7 points worse since prior to the trade.
Prior to the trade their net rating was -10.7 and after the trade which was on january 7th their net rating is -11.4 which is only just slightly worse. I think this shows the growth of the young core despite missing 2 rotation players and not having any serviceable players replacing them. Tre Johnson (15/2/3 on 38% shooting from 3) has especially been playing better as of late with him getting a career high 26 points vs the Hornets yesterday. It’s also worth mentioning that Bilal Coulibaly who is their best or 2nd best defender has been missing for the last 5 games as well. Overall the Wizards are losing like expected but it hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be.
