We didn’t lose this game because of the refs. We lost this game (like many others) because Nick Nurse’s 3rd quarter lineups are fucking horrific and we always have to claw back after letting the other team get up big.

Don’t let bad refs distract you from the fact that Nick Nurse fucking sucks.

Shamet had his hands on Maxey, but Maxey broke away. If the refs called a foul while Shamet had his hands on Maxey he would have two shots not 3.

Maxey assumed that Shamet was still trailing him and would continue the physical contact. However, by the time Maxey pulled up to shoot Shamet was way behind him and in no position to foul.

The worst part about this is if shamet actually continued the physical contact while Maxey shot that 3 , refs would blow the whistle but only allow 2 shots cause they’d say it was an intentional foul that started before the shot … which they didn’t call in this scenario lol

The endings would still be climatic… no different than football games when a team has to score because the other team can kneel it to the end… the climax of the game might happen at 0:30 remaining instead of a buzzer beater and that is fine— the tension is the same, and teams would still try to pressure/double/trap for a steal anyways. Winning team would have to decide if they want to score or play keepaway for twenty seconds.

Elam ending fixes the absolute travesty that many nba games devolve into
