[Highlight] Loud MVP Chants for Jaylen Brown in Barclays Center after getting an AND1 coast to coast
Find me one person that projected the Celtics as the 2 seed without Tatum and I’ll stop the Brown for MVP campaign.
I remember people saying that his contract would handicap the Celtics lol

“That’s a crazy amount of money for a player that basically every advanced metric says is merely good rather than great.“ 1100 upvotes
From that thread (in response to a heat fan of all people saying the max was worth it for a 26 year old two way player coming off an all-nba season):
Would we really call him two-way? He’s good on ball but his off-ball defense is straight up bad. And All-NBA award be damned, the dude is not close to a top 15 player (imo). I probably would still give him that contract if the alternative were losing him, but with Tatum’s looming contract I would have tried hard to find a trading partner instead.
Less than a year later Brown won the finals mvp largely because of his defense against Luka.
As much as I hate to lend credence to this ridiculousness, JBs biggest asset since coming into the league has been how he has consistently found a way to get better every season. Coming into 23-24 I believe was the year he said he wanted to win all-defense, and he improved significantly as an off ball defender. There was a time when he could be pretty bad off ball.
Handicapped us from tanking because he’s worth it. I’m curious if this will be the start of Brown taking the 1a more consistently when Tatum comes back…
Nah, I’m with you. He’s my vote for MVP too. Just has the best case of, “The team truly needs him in order to win”
I had us finishing somewhere between 4-8 and people thought was a delusional Homer.
Not top 2 seed because I didn’t think the Knicks would suck this bad but I’ve always liked JB. He’s on my fantasy team. Never had any doubt he wouldn’t be a playoff team number 1 option
I recall people had indi and Celtics near same level
I personally thought they could be whatever, grand idea on the east was that it was wide open and that the knicks and cavs were the only two teams that stood a head up but I figured the Knicks would be prioritizing health anyway and the Cavs didn’t look all that credible to me. I assumed the Magic would step but, surprisingly it was Detroit.
i predicted a 5 seed, so i’m off, but i really don’t understand why ppl thought they would tank with Brown still completely healthy. aside from that 0-3 start, i never had any doubt.
Look, hes having a great season and the Celtics are beating expectations without Tatum.
In saying that, if Jaylen Brown made his next 140 straight shots, he’d still have a lower fg% than SGA.
Maybe sga isn’t mvp because he sits the 4th quarter bc team don’t need him
This is at least the second time this season where he got mvp chants and then bricked the freethrow. Classic Jaylen.
I feel it happens every time a player gets MVP chants
not steph :)
No, no he didn’t. Greatest shooter to ever live.
Was guaranteed to happen he had one of his patented terrible FT shooting nights
I swear its only when I watch :(
It’s a guaranteed miss if the crowd chants MVP when he shoots his freethrows.
I swear any game I watch JB shoots 50% or less from FTs.
The whole night the crowd sounded like TD Garden. It was insane. Celtics fans travel well.
In this case shitloads of us just live in New York lol
Yeah I lived in NYC for a while until about 10 years ago. There are a LOT of Boston fans there.
Who has done more with less than Jaylen Brown?
People were saying jokic for the past decade
Probably LeBron.
Travel? Tons live there lol it’s NYC
I don’t even want to gloat, that must really suck to hear as a Nets player during such a tight game.
Brown should be more talked about. And we’re talking about a man who hasn’t played at number two.
I’m sure it’s not worth it for Celtic fans but Brown has made such a crazy leap .
Idk it’s given fans one of those magical seasons where success comes without the weight of expectation, which I think makes for the most pure fun as a fan. The deep playoffs runs with a juggernaut are amazing of course but I’m sure a warriors fan can relate to the anxiety with a team that should be able to and is expected to win every game, it adds a pressure that’s missing when playing with house money like this
Listen. I was happy to potentially have a kid from down the road as a Celtics star but Jaylen Marcellus Brown MVP campaign is what I needed.
Lol get fucked
Move back to Jersey!
Copilot just told me:
“Jaylen Brown’s college stats during his time at the University of California, Berkeley are as follows: Junior Year (2015-2016): Averaged 24.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.
Senior Year (2014-2015): Averaged 28 points and 12 rebounds per game.”
The prompt was Jaylen brown college stats.
We’re cooked dude.
Use that thing inside your skull instead of asking AI
In the same amount of time it took you to prompt AI, you can just Google search and find the sports-reference page that has his college stats
It’s better for your research skills and better for the environment.
Man, Redditors are so annoying. I understand the AI hate against art and creative outputs, but this makes no sense
It’s like telling someone in 2001 to go check out a book and do research, instead of googling. Get with the times or fall behind 🤷🏾♂️
