Not trying to gas you up too much, but idk if the Mavs get enough credit for how successful they’ve been. Luka trade aside, you guys have been a top-10 franchise the past two decades and probably closer to 5 than 10. 4 WCF appearances, 3 Finals appearances, 1 title. Going from Dirk to Luka to Flagg. Bit of a speed bump with Nico being an undercover agent for Adam Silver and the Lakers the whole time, but it feels like the culture’s solid enough for you guys to bounce back into contention before too long.
You see it with Milwaukee and others that even when you have a generational talent like Giannis, not every organization can build sustained success.

We don’t know what Milwaukee will look like post Giannis, in holding to your Mavericks comparison. The Mavs were awesome for years with Dirk and then were awful for three straight years (one of which led to getting Luka) and were able to have a transition year where Dirk was able to take Luka under his wing. And then when Luka was traded, Flagg was on the team a few months later due to lottery luck. The post-Giannis era doesn’t exist yet, so we don’t know what fruit it will produce.
Going from an MVP caliber player to an MVP caliber player to the consensus #1 pick who has MVP potential is what allows a franchise to be considered great if you don’t dig in too deep. The teams who didn’t take Luka were stupid then and stupid now, but I don’t know that the Mavs should get an overabundance of credit as an organization because they benefited from lotto luck and having a Euro superstar earlier than most.
If anything, Dirk and (to a lesser extent) Luka should credit for achieving success and elevating lots of different rosters in Dallas despite all of the not-so-quiet buzz around the league about how dysfunctional that organization has been for decades.
