[Highlight] Russell Westbrook airballs an open dunk
Brodie realized he can’t get up the same way he used to and panicked and tried to make a layup.
He had the height but hesitated and messed it up
You need more height doing it with your right hand, you can see he didn’t have the height
You need more height doing it with your right hand
…What? Dunking with your right hand after jumping off your left foot is the easiest, lowest height way of dunking, certainly more than both hands. Very confused by this comment. That makes zero sense. The way he took off, dunking with his right hand is easily the easiest way of dunking vs both hands or the left hand.
Also you can see in the replay that he very much did have the height if just extended his right arm from the jump. I am so confused by this comment and the fact that its upvoted, you can literally pause the video on the replay and see where his right hand is clearly at “dunking” height with the ball, but he was already adjusting and botching it.
your comment seems wrong in literally every way to me but it has nearly 50 upvotes, so maybe I’m just a moron
He clearly doesn’t think he is high enough or he doesn’t switch it up mid air. He is high enough at his apex, but he is already coming back down hence the switch up.
He clearly doesn’t think he is high enough
Well yeah, obviously. That is the issue, he didn’t think he was and tried to adjust and botched it. But he actually was. Thats what I’m saying. He technically got high enough to dunk it if he just extended with the right from the jump, but clearly he got thrown off in the air by not jumping as high as he hoped and tried to adjust even though he still could’ve just dunked it
It seemed like he did but he had less room than he used to and backed out to try and help a layup with his left.
You can clearly see if he had just extended his right arm it probably would’ve gone down but he wasn’t ready
Had the height and panicked and blew it
Shit thats too true. Upon first watch it looks like it slips out of his hand, but nope he just started out from too far and it isnt 2016 anymore.
He lost control of the ball on the way up. Calling this “airballing a dunk” is a massive stretch but it’s a Russ lowlight so this is the sort of title it gets
Dude was blowing layups all last year for the nuggets lol
L take… He clearly lost control of the ball.
Him and PG were constantly missing dunks in their Clippers days trying to show they still got it (which was fair because every so often they still did). But that was a few years ago…
I remember as a kid watching Westbrook go up for a dunk like he absolutely hated the rim.
He still does, just looks way different now lol
Ha , first thing threw my mind too
2017⁄18 Westbrook on a breakaway was always one of the most exciting things to see
Fr he’d never do anything crazy like 360s or whatever but the pure violence he’d dunk with always made his jams my favourite
That’s why his hands look the way they do now it’s kind of crazy actually
Now he hates it because it’s an eternal reminder of the loss of his athletic ability as he ages on.
Same when I was a kid, and I’m older than Westbrook.
Last few years he shoots 3s like he hates the rim
rim hated him too. he bricked a lot
I remember you, the Kyrie fan.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/5Mee2N9nDz
Dude hates Russ.
facts are hating now?
kyrie over russ is delusional. call me when he even sniffs an mvp vote
wake me up when Westbrook has a title and isn’t shooting under 40% in playoffs
maybe kyrie would shoot a little worse if he was ever a first option for more than a couple months
Westbrook was shooting this poorly while being a 2nd/3rd option lol
this is like saying d12 is better than duncan because dwight shot better %
no it isn’t when Kyrie also has a ring and multiple Finals appearances
Westbrook is Dwight without the efficiency or elite defense
Wow. All the people I grew up watching are my age and losing their super powers
It’s crazy to think that they spent their entire lives working out and being fit and in shape and still their muscles turn 40 and are just like “welp, bout time to be heading out of here”
I mean he’s still more athletic right now than 99% of people ever will be. Just shows how difficult NBA ball is.
They also get worn down way more quickly. It’s not healthy to get that much usage on any muscle. That being said, still athletic than 99.9999% of people
Muscle: “I’m tired boss”
OG jumped and realize he wasn’t making it 😂
OG is top 20 in the league in dunks as usual he hasn’t missed one yet
More of a miscalculation
He just lost the ball y’all, he’s old but he can still yam it
He’s only dunked it twice this season.
Wow, I had absolutely zero clue. Thought that number would be way higher
Doesn’t mean he can’t dunk when he’s wide open, just that he doesn’t have as many contested dunks as he used to (or as I like to call them, attempted murders)
His fingers are destroyed from demolishing rims his whole career, he’s had like 5 hand surgeries
Yep it’s his awful touch
Damnn feel bad
I hate watching players age out of the game. I don’t like the Lakers but these days I do Lebron flexes at my TV when I see him throw one down because father time really does need to get fucked.
Aging sucks ass man…
Father Time is undefeated
I thought “you can’t airball a dunk” when I read the title. I was wrong.
Rudy Gobert does this multiple times a season keep up
Man there’s a hilarious college one where a guy goes up for an open fastbreak dunk and then never gets the ball above his shoulders, but it doesn’t go flying away either and just kind of stays there with him as he flies out of bounds on the baseline, like his controller just lagged out, but now I can’t find it….
So many hand surgeries from dunking too hard
Dude I haven’t dunked since I was 10 and my neighbor dropped the Goalrilla down to 5 feet and I still remember how much it stung my hands.
I see these guys throwing it down as hard as they can and I don’t know how they can keep playing like their hand isn’t numb.
I was hitting the Westbrook hesitation before I made it to puberty.
I remember someone asking him why he dunks so hard and he said so nobody can block it
Now we’re here
Damn. Avoiding the block long enough that you become the block.
them hands so fucked bro
Westbrook giveth and Westbrook taketh
*Westbrick taketh
Very original
All those rim breaking dunks cooked his hands
People are saying he lost his athleticism, he really hasn’t that much he is actually still very athletic
His touch is awful and he consistently loses control of the ball
His touch on jumpers, floaters, layups is so fucking bad, i don’t think i’ve seen a worse touch ever from a point guard, people say his hands are fucked i think?
He plays like he has timbs on his hands, it’s like point guard Andre Drummond who just max powers everything and loses control of the ball
I mean, hes lost athleticism. Just a fact.
He has lost athleticism obviously he’s not on his prime but he is still one of the most athletic point guards if u watch him, his touch is just so bad
Yeah this was so notable in the Clips stretch. Impressive how he still has the movement juice, it was the hands and handle that was so god awful
This time it was poor decision making. He went in for a right hand dunk coming in from his left. You need more height to do that, he should’ve done it with his left or angled his body to the other side.
Them knees starting to age a lil bit
I want him in the league because he still flashes and I always loved his game and respected the person. I wouldn’t want him on my team because of stuff like this. Wish he got the ring last year
This play does make me wonder how much longer he has. It was weird seeing how long it took for a team to sign him, but I get it.
Not even a Westbrick.
Whooshbrook
I was expecting worse. He just had it slip out of his hands lol.
These players are on their last legs I’m not holding it against Brodie
Dang, this hurts. Someone also posted a 39 YO Michael Jordan (Wizards era) missing an open dunk. (In the LeBron sub). And T-Mac looked so heartbroken on the bench 💔 like me watching both these videos.
When your legs don’t work like they used to before
It’s his hands
Lots of hand injuries and he has no grip
He was so bad in this game, I seriously think the FBI might want to look at his finances and communications with friends/family. Shades of Terry Rozier.
hilarious if you really think that
Russ is probably worth almost half a billion he has no reason to even think twice about that kind of shit
Terry is literally a special education nba player intellectually like LaMelo
Russ is physically clumsy. there’s a difference.
Rozier has made 150m in his career, you’re acting like he’s some two way player
sure but his net worth is under 10 and considering the lifestyle and expenses these guys lock themselves into and how long his future is as a retired player, possible extortions, etc he might as well be almost broke
wouldn’t be the first player to earn over 100 Mil in a career and still be having money problems
I dont think he’s gambling or anything, but money doesn’t care about addictions. If he got caught up in it and has addictive tendencies, he’d be cooked
100% true!
but yeah I just don’t think Russell Westbrook is a gambling addict lol
Russ gets like a -33% stat debuff in the 4th quarter..
How is it possible to be a walking lowlight/highlight reel at the same time?
🔥🔥🔥 up up and away, washed ain’t he 🐠 🎣 🐟
Bricked a dunk
the reaction from Cavs bench is interesting
Brickula special
He plays so hard, love him /s
His hand locked up. Arthritis kicked in at the wrong time.
Surprised he didnt get a foul call for fouling himself
You love to see it 🤩
Ben Simmons moment
Dam :(
He’s just like me frfr
Just russ things
Don’t post this.
Youuu light my fiiire
Was it because he jumped off his left foot?
He went up to dunk with the ball in his right-hand, so going off his left foot makes sense. Is this some joke/meme I missed out on?
Elite tanking IQ. Goes out and does everything our team needs right now.
his head said ‘im gonna dunk this!’
his legs said ‘nah bruh we old’
His legs weren’t the issue; the ball slipped out of his hand.
the ball slipped out of his hand because he tried to take it back with 2 hands after seeing he couldn’t make that dunk
i missed Prime Russ man !!
Fuck this is so Westbrook. Perfection.
Russ on the Lakers be like
Father Time comes for us all
I don’t care much for Russell Westbrook but for some reason the shy way he grabbed his fingers after that play was absolutely heartbreaking.
Someone check on whatshisface, the Westbrook MVP guy on the sub. make sure he’s OK.
Old Prime Westbrook: Bruhhh 💀
how can lebron do this to russ….
His left hand blocked his right hand.
Hello, old friend.
Great timing with the commentary about “high IQ plays.”
It was a pass - Benny Simmons
People wanna clown on lebrons age and he hasn’t done something like this ever, while being older.
Westbrick !
Let’s see MITWestbrook spin this.
Bro has Thanasty level lowlights lol
He did a Patrick Williams
My king is going down 🫡
Westbrick strikes again, but even worse somehow
Better defending there than Trae Young on Ben Simmons
It’s okay- Vivek will offer a free poster of this guy at entry if you buy tickets
