We’re not winning anything this year. I’d be thrilled to get rid of bridges and get another 1st back for him. His minutes could go to Salaun to see if he could be a quality starter (he’s looked great off the bench). And I wouldn’t be mad if PJ hall found some burn in the backup spot.

Nah neither Kalk or Diabate can shoot really. They’re pretty redundant in terms of offense - pretty much just rim runners and a short hook.

Miller isn’t strong enough to play the 4. He plays more like a 2 than 3 really even though he’s got good length.

They’re probably going to start Grant at the 4 with the goal of Salaun getting more minutes and then eventually taking the starting spot.

unironically yeah. all three of the rookies we play (Kon, Sion, Kalkbrenner) have pretty much looked like vets. The 2nd rounders are kinda hitting a wall lately, but are still clear rotation caliber players simply because they aren’t stupid, like backups we’ve had in their positions for the past 5+ years

They’re relying heavily on 3 rookies right now. Lamelo and Brandon have just recently come back from injuries, and Melo is still on minutes restriction. Two of their best defenders, Green and Williams, also just recently came back from injury.

This year is just learning and getting healthy. Next year, barring injury, they’re gonna be a scary team

Edit: Kalkbrenner was also out for a bit with injuries, and Diabaté has missed some games due to injury as well

This will sound crazy but if there’s a way for them to get Steph on this team without giving up any of their core, that would catapult them to contender status. It’s the ideal fit for him because he doesn’t have to hard carry, he would have a bunch of elite shooters and spacing and Lamelo would have no problem getting him open looks.

Hornets are winning by these margins without any of their players going supernova. If Steph can add 20-25 points.

I just brought this up because he might be interested in finishing his career on his dad’s former team and his dad being able to watch and call all his games.

If they are healthy they should be in contention for a play-in. I actually thought that as the possibility for them preseason after their strong high floor draft class to go along with Lamelo Ball and Brandon Miller being relatively healthier than last season. Their trajectory should be fairly good going forward the next few years.

Lee tinkering with this unit by bringing Melo off the bench ,when this lineup has been so effective has been one of the most infuriating things I’ve seen in a while.

The three games that Melo came off the bench, he entered the game for the first time down 11, 10, and 7 points, because this unit does not work without a PG. In those games, Melo has needed to go hero mode immediately, and that’s not the way you want to deploy him. It further messes things up because it kills off the Melo to Kon assist connection that has been so efficient.

Lee’s rotation patterns are so obviously wrong in these games that it feels like blatant tanking more than anything.

It’s being rationalized as a minutes restriction thing, but the issue is literally as simple as moving his 1st quarter minutes in those games from 6:00-0:00 to 12:00-6:00.

It doesn’t sound like it should make a big difference but our inability to open games without Melo is actually insane.
