Joel Embiid’s 46 minutes tonight is the most he’s played in a game since 2022. He’s played 13⁄16 games in the last month, with two 40+ minute games. He hadn’t done either since 2023. Great sign.
As good of a sign as any for a player seemingly cursed with injuries. Embiid can finally play big minutes again.
During his 2023 MVP campaign he played he most recent 46 minute game, an OT with vs. the Lakers. Three years later, he’s reached that mark again. The only time he played more was a 49 min outing in 2017, a 3OT game.
In the last 30 days he’s played 13 of 16 availible games. While that doesn’t seem special, it’s the first time he strung this many games together since his 2023⁄24 season was stopped by injury.
In this stretch, he’s averaging 28/8/4 63% TS in 34 minutes per game.
Not trying to jinx it, I know this is only one month. But it feels like his career might have life again.
