It’s bewildering to me how you can genuinely see that his movement is not fluid even remotely to how it was 2 years ago and he can still just completely take over the game with sheer size and shot making

He is my least favorite player of all time to watch, I have decided. His main goal in an nba game is to trick the refs into calling fouls. I just watched every second of that game tonight. It’s pretty despicable the way he plays. I watched the Houston broadcast; when embiid gets the ball, they would say “here comes embiid with the foul baiting attempt” and he would every time. He’s worse than peak harden. Thank god it’s proven an unsuccessful strategy in the playoffs when whistles tighten up

He’s so skilled , even tho he’s slow as fuck compared to peak just the skill n size makes him a menace - he’s like 7ft 280lb version of kd in quite a few ways in 2024- but a lot slower now . When he ain’t foul baiting he’s fun to watch as hell

His defense was actually pretty good tonight. From a box score perspective there were some blocks that weren’t called and a late steal that was credited to Maxey, but more importantly his rim deterrence which isn’t really counted was so so important. He was also guarding Amen Thompson and Jabari Smith Jr (who was a non-factor) in really pivotal spots.

(the only time he got really beat was when KD set a high ball screen with Amen Thompson, the helper had to leave Sengun wide open under the basket but luckily he pumpfaked so many times looking for some free throws that PG was able to stuff him).

Clearly an athleticism decline hampered by his perennial knee injuries but that mfer has never forgotten how to score the basketball

His defense is slowly getting better too - had what I thought was the best defensive possession I’ve seen from him in a long time in the 4th tonight where he impacted Sheppard’s shot coming at him full speed in transition, then got up to stop the followup from I think it was either Jabari or Eason.

I think it’s because that historically, guys with his age with his build with his injuries always end up as a shell of their former selves. Bill Walton is a success story and he went from MVP to a 6th Man. If he can return to a second or even third all-NBA kind of player, Philly is a legit contender.

I mean, he was looking terrible for awhile. We all know the skills are there, but he had like a 6” vert for awhile. And with his injury history and age/size, it wasn’t an exaggeration.

Sengun was 5-14 with 0 points in the fourth or OT. I’d say his defense is pretty good.

He is in that “turn back the clock” once every couple games phase of his career.

The Sixers are just a weird case. Maxey can ballout but there is a lot of games where the team just falls apart no matter without Embiid. The Knicks series a couple years ago was a great example of this Maxey played great. Sixers lost in 6. Embiid was +50, Maxey with near the same minutes +0.
