[Arenas] “Where the fuck are the trades at? TRADE ALREADY! TRADE somebody, damn!“
Giannis holding the whole trade market hostage
going to be this way until he actually gets traded.
So no trades till the summer 😭
probably. No team want to have fomo. Like NYK looking back gave up the farm for Mikal when they could’ve just used a similar package for Giannis
I sense at least one trade bomb. It’s way too quiet.
Likely just a Sabonis type trade. I wouldn’t consider that a bomb. Just a mild “oh ok”
Sabonis for Vuc will be the trade bomb of the 2026 season
I get you made this for a meme. But no thanks. Sabonis is ~45M through 2027-28. Vuc is ~21M through this year.
I just find it hilarious the kings solution after shedding a bunch of young talent is essentially assembling the Bulls of the 2020s lmao
Yeah, it is funny! Probably nobody thinks it’s funnier than Bulls fans, though. Happy to give up Vuc to the Kings for the memes ;-) — but we don’t want Sabonis back. The Giddey Bulls need a stronger defender at the 5.
I think MPJ will get traded at least.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Ja also gets moved.
It feels like someone HAS to buy low on Ja, but how low will it go?
KAT getting traded would be high hilarity
Right? Considering the current dysfunction in NYK, something big might happen in NYC.
Giannis in place of KAT in NY is a scary thought, especially if they are able to keep the other perimeter players as well.
Brunson
Bridges
Hart
OG
Giannis
is a wild lineup - both defensively and spacing.
i mean take any top 10 team and add giannis without subtracting any players and yes, that team would be much better.
Hahahah ya know - you make a lot of sense there 😂
Without subtracting any players except their 2nd leading scorer and top rebounder. They wouldnt be giving up any other players except for the star that the trade centers around
They wouldn’t be able to keep their core, that is fantasy trading.
The Trae Young trade is the biggest move and will stay as the biggest move of this season
trae’s trade feels like a bomb bc they traded so little for him, not that he got traded in the first place
Mofos were really going on national TV saying “Giannis doesn’t really have a trade market.” If my guy decides to call it, the whole freaking league would be on fire trying to get him - unless he dictates specific destinations (which will likely be the case).
Even then it could be a three team trade to get the bucks what they want (picks)
Would be hilarious to have a dead trade deadline and nothing getting done till the summer because of that
The introduction of the new apron rules has made trades way harder now.
Just wasting everyone’s time because he doesn’t want to get booed when he goes back to Milwaukee
I 100% believe he’s getting traded this offseason after a subtle “parting of ways”
Would Bucks fans even boo him for leaving?
i can’t speak for all, but i wouldn’t boo him. he brought a championship to the city and played at an mvp level for like a decade. the “will he won’t he” aspect has been frustrating, but the current team is in a really bad state with few assets to improve. if he wants to leave i can live with it and understand it.
Why did Cavs fans burn LeBron jerseys
Because he left in free agency and announced it on live television. It has also been 15 years between then and now and in that amount of time fanbases have gotten way more used to players moving around
Not to mention Cavs were still highly competitive in 2010 (only one year removed from Conf Finals where they were even heavy favorites)
LeBron didn’t win a championship with the Cavs before leaving the first time, and also the Decision is way worse than however Giannis would leave.
Yeah after he won them a chip they didn’t care he left the 2nd time, they understood it was a hopeless situation just like Giannis is in. In fact they still love him.
Common both situations wouldnt even be comparable, Giannis won with Milwaukee , played there for 12 years, isnt a free agent and isnt hosting a TV show for his trade
Also, a big difference is that Milwaukee is in a situation that there is really nothing there can be done to make their team better. No one in their right mind could ever think “there’s still more Giannis can accomplish in Milwaukee”. When Lebron left the Cavs were coming off of back to back 60 win seasons, pretty easy for Cavs fans to convince themselves that they could have still been contenders if he stayed. The “he could have accomplished more” part vs “he’s clearly done all he can do” definitely plays a role in who gets cheered in their homecoming vs who gets booes
Tbf that is a bigger difference on paper but honestly not that different. Sure, they were coming off back to back 60 win seasons but that is because LeBron is one of if not the greatest ever and elevated what otherwise were pretty mediocre teams, as seen by them immediately being garbage after he left. Short of actually winning a championship, LeBron clearly did do all he could do in his first stint with Cleveland. If Giannis is LeBron’s age when he made “The Decision” right now, then they would probably somehow be in playoff contention and fans would still hate Giannis for “giving up on the team” when in reality he has every right to give up on a team that has shown time and again (like LeBron’s first Cleveland stint) that they are just incapable of building a good supporting cast around him
The Bucks are now incapable of building around him because they have depleted their assets from building around him over the past several years.
They won a championship and had multiple successful regular seasons in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Maybe he’s going to host a Fear Factor style show with competing GMs this summer on Greek television to determine his next team.
And he’s not from Milwaukee. Lebron was the hometown kid.
LeBron didn’t win the Cavs a ring and the Decision followed his two worst playoff games of his career (up to that point). Not saying they should or shouldn’t have burned his jersey but LeBron and Giannis accomplished vastly different things.
He made a spectacle of announcing he was leaving, and this was after all the insiders spread the rumor that he’s staying. So it was wind out of sails AND slaps to the face of an entire fanbase. The decision special was salt in the wounds. Such a terrible PR decision…and yes, it was awesome that the show raised millions for the Bous and Girls Club of America, but James would’ve been better served writing the check himself and not having the sort of blowback he received. LeBron was the savior who abandoned his believers for greener pastures.
It was a different era. LeBron broke the mold and made fanbases realize that the players aren’t slaves for them.
The aftermath of the trade request matters in perception.
Guys like PG (in Oklahoma) go relatively unscathed while guys like AD (in New Orleans) still get booed when they go back to their old cities
Request a trade in the middle of the season gives way to smear articles and terrible vibes for the next few months if nothing is resolved
Guys like AD wore a “That’s all folks” shirt walking out the door lol
And also poisoned the well saying he’d only resign with the Lakers
Neither of those guys put in 13 years of blood, sweat and tears, saved a franchise from moving out of the city, sparked sustained economic growth in their city, or brought their team a title, grew from a child to a man, won 2 MVPs, a dpoy, an MIP, an NBA cup and a cup MVP… giannis is beloved.
Him comments about the team and their effort in recent weeks feels a bit stronger than usual, so I’d say there’s a higher chance of a mid-season trade than before, but this new CBA really makes mid-season stuff harder.
Until the Bucks really say they are not doing it until the summer, a lot of these teams are scared to do anything.
lol I love that he’s fucking everyone else’s plans up, it’s not like we’re competing anyways
Even if teams think he’s staying they don’t want to make a big move now so they have more chips to get him this summer.
You don’t trade a marquee player like Giannis until the very edge of the deadline. Thats when the desperate bidding happens.
Gilbert wants to see a trigger get pulled
CJ McCollum: <negotiates deal that makes trades much more difficult>
CJ McCollum: <gets traded twice>
CJ McCollum is a goat tank commander tho
still pales in comparison to Dennis “Modern Slavery” Schroder
ShockedMcCollumFace :0
“Should’ve tried harder”
-Jennifer
He tried, Jennifer
Putting my conspiracy hat on: I don’t think he was worth his current deal, but I think he got extended knowing he’d be trade bait as the bulk of a salary match. I’m really curious what his next contract will be - the type of player that CJ is doesn’t make a lot of money in today’s league. I wonder if he’d take a paycut to be a sixth man on a contender.
Also I wonder if it’s an optics thing where the leader of the NBAPA needs to be on a large contract.
He’s gonna go back to Portland. He is Part Owner in a winery there and I can see him retiring where he started his career.
One last season of Dame and CJ?
Aye, I could do that.
Cj unintentionally saved free agency which makes the trade market better honestly.
Without FA, trading was the only way to improve and hence why Rudy gets 5 picks plus pieces.
With FA, teams can definitely turn down bad deals and wait till the summer. That makes the trade market stagnant but it’ll shake out eventually.
Also teams are just hesitant of chopping up rosters these days. Continuity is everything
Off topic, but bringing up Nick Youngs China career was hilarious 😭😭
“You know that girl on Instagram that keeps going to Dubai?” 😂😭
The dubai porta potty reference was U N H I N G E D!
…if a woman keeps going to dubai ALONE on vacation… is it to be assumed she’s doing some form of sex work? i legit want to know, because i know a woman like this.
Your friend is getting peed on by a sheikh bro
Other hole
Why not both?
Either that or she’s getting flown out by someone else
Do you have a better theory? Because I don’t.
well, there could be a lot of single and rich men out there to meet… she might like dubai… i don’t know i’ve never been there, it’s not a place i have ever considered going.
Every video I see of Dubai just looks like its a giant soulless mall. Theres so many places on Earth to visit. So yeah its very sus.
Honestly every video I see of Dubai just looks like a fake AI universe, like how could anything be that cool? But apparently it’s a real place.
Slavery is how that place is so “cool” lmao
Its the spectacle. Giant buildings, man-made islands, mind-boggling opulence, those are interesting to see no matter how fake it is.
And while all of it is build on the backs of slave labor, that doesn’t mean its not a awe-inspiring place to visit. The Great Wall of China was built on the backs of slaves and its certainly amazing to see in person.
Everything ancient is built on the back of slaves
Excluding, shockingly enough, the one thing usually associated with slave labor, the Pyramids
I think it’s a little bit different because you don’t have to step over the slaves that built the Great Wall if you go see it and you’re definitely not chancing stepping on their recently interred remains. Not visiting historical landmarks because slavery was involved in producing them hundreds of years ago is different than not visiting somewhere that slavery is currently involved in upholding and contributing revenue that ultimately helps to uphold that system. Though yes I’m sure the buildings in abstraction look cool up close.
I get you, I wouldn’t want to visit or give any money to Dubai either. But I understand the sentiment of people who do. I’ve been to Vegas and seen fake opulence up close. Its still kind of impressive knowing its all a tourist trap.
Join your friend, then you could both be shat on by a middle eastern man for money.
She is engaged in some sort of pay for play relationship, yes.
What team does he play on China? Genuinely curious how he’s doing lol
He actually never played in China
Lmaooo. So what’s Gil comment about? Now I’m even more confused
swaggy p is a gigolo for a rich chinese heiress
China has a lot of stuff that isn’t available in the US and for a much cheaper price
So alot of whores get flown out by rich guys in Dubai every so often to fuck them and they spoil them with everything they want. Usually those instagram “models” who you always see in paradise but never work. So Arenas is insinuating that’s what Nick does in China to pay his bills lol
He just like us fr
He is us fr
I laugh at people who take him seriously. He’s basically a NBA comedian
same with teague. they get on stream saying they’re bullshitting and barbershop talk and people post him here like he’s trying to be tim legler or something
Those dudes are hilarious 520 podcast lol
This whole sub is just nba comedians
Just waiting for the next LePun thread
Updoots to the left amirite fellas
LeInfiniteKarmaGlitch
LeFuckmywife
LeHoneyNutCheerios
Go look at your top voted comments, it definitely works!
lmao wait you weren’t kidding this guy’s top comments are like 4 lebron and 1 embiid puns
That’s his thing though, he knows he’s not there for serious discussion
Already people who dominate that market
With all due respect I don’t see many people who have serious discussion about basketball.
If there is it’s probably a podcast that isn’t that popular. We live in weird times and being controversial and stupid gets more clicks and views than the serious people.
Tim Leglar is a decent watch for serious discussion.
Zach Lowe is probably the best for this. He does silly stuff with trade rumors but he actually analyzes games. Leglar is on his podcast at least once a month
Check out the game theory pod. They get into the details on that one.
I only take him seriously if he’s not talking. When it comes to basketball training, I truly think he has a gift and has experimented enough on his own that he knows what’s necessary and how to maximize potential.
Gil is a total asshole, but fuck if hes not funny.
The Pacers jersey swap during the finals buzzer beater is an all-time NBA moment
Him talking about his beef stew, beef has to be the best Gil moment
SOMEBODY JUMP OFFSIDES, DAMN
Butt fuck?
Nick being like “man I don’t like you like this” absolutely sent me
He’s so chill.
did not expect a dubai portapotty reference.
Never forget the original meaning of Dubai chocolate
Gilbert just be bored as fuck huh lol
Was gonna say these boys just wanna gossip
they get paid to do it, just like any podcaster.
I wonder why Laker fans both think our players aren’t good enough and expect them to be viable trade assets to improve. It legit baffles me. And that’s knowing there’s a Laker tax even when dealing.
You give me: good players
I give you: bad players
Accept? Yes/No
You just described the History of the LA Lakers, unfortunately for the rest of us
I’m still pissed about the Pau Gasol trade
At least Memphis got Marc later on down the road. Dallas really got diddly squat unless you believe in the conspiracies about the league giving them Flagg.
I was gonna say that’s at least 60% of laker trades lmao
I mean you guys got Luka for a ham sandwitch and a new printer.
I believe the printer was broken
That would be an improvement. A ham sandwich doesn’t fall apart mid season.
I remember a few years ago getting into an argument with a Laker fan on here. He was saying the Lakers should trade Lonzo for Fox. I said the Kings wouldnt do that trade. He then said the Kings would be stupid to not do it because Lonzo is better. I asked why do you want the Lakers to trade Lonzo if he’s better? He said Fox will be better in the future, and told him thats why the Kings wont trade him. Then he called the Kings stupid again if they dont.
In another time, another forum, Laker fans were convinced they could get Kevin Garnet for Kwame Brown and filler.
Why? Because KG is best friends with Kobe.
I’m sure radio shows are nearly this bad everywhere, but the listener calls were really something special in L.A. around the mid-2000s. Every call was like why aren’t the Lakers trading Smush Parker for Dirk Nowitzki.
I guess, to be fair, the Pau trade was nearly that bad.
They are to some extent but LA sports radio is unhinged from the folks on air to the folks who call in.
Wild fucking takes all the time, a massive woe is me mentality when every little thing doesn’t go in your favor, and crazy unbalanced expectations when it comes to trades(proven to be fairly accurate actually).
The Lakers have a history of getting guys for cheap because players want to be in LA and can tank their value by telling other teams they don’t want to be there.
The one thing that has changed though is the way the new tax/apron stops teams from making moves even if they have deep pockets and would be willing to pay the tax. I think half of free agency and trade season being dead is that there’s just not a lot of flexibility with the current rules.
Because yall got Luka for a bag of chips and a wheelchair…
Tired of hearing about this so called lakers tax y’all were bad for like 5 years and think y’all went thru the great depression or something. Y’all get gifted star players all the time if it wasn’t LA you’d be a poverty franchise and y’all would deserve it.
You’re a unicorn
Their assets are Rui and AR. That’s it.
You know the answer already
This season, no. But if it drags out till the offseason, then they can make a competitive offer with 2026 pick select the player bucks want then trade 2031 and/or 2033 pick which be very valuable with Luka/Giannis being beyond their primes. Bucks will likely want to contend without their picks so they can take in Reaves and still do that in the East.
It’s not a bad package, if Spurs/OKC don’t want him, which they likely don’t given the amount of depth they’d have to give up.
It’s so frustrating watching us shit all over every player on our bench while expecting to get prime Jordan back for them
Well you did get Luka
Uh, prob because your entire franchise’s history is you fleecing other teams of their stars while giving up potato chips in return? Lakers fan wonders why his fellow fans are spoiled, more at 11.
Ain’t nobody want Kuminga or Ja lol
Tbf JK might get traded before Ja gets traded
I think there’s definitely a market for a player like kuminga. I’d imagine that Golden state has just set the price too high to this point
Mike Dunleavy’s comments the other night don’t really help either. He said there’s no demand for him. Its a catch-22. Golden state don’t want him, but what team wants to trade for a guy his own team doesn’t want
Facts. I thought that was really unprofessional from Dunleavy. Didn’t help that he looked like an 80s villain in that press conference either lmao
Between that and the Bills owners press conference yesterday, its been a bad 24 hours for front offices trying not to look stupid as fuck
Well it doesn’t help that anytime his name is brought up they say he’s the worst player ever and can’t even get 5 minutes off the bench from us lol
At this point it might be a race to see who becomes a free agent first.
Rozier is the only contract in the NBA worth trading for Ja.
We need a franchise in Alaska to ship him off too. Ja would do well in the Fairbanks Polar Bears.
Second apron allows for a more competitive balance but makes it very difficult to execute in season trades.
At the moment it does. The problem right now is that the salary matching rules came from a time with no salary cap. They were to prevent a team like the Lakers just shipping off a draft pick for, say, Ja Morant, and having a $600 million basketball team.
Since the aprons are a functional cap, those rules are obsolete. Rich teams can’t add beyond a certain point, so who cares if salaries match anymore? They need to update one of those two things so we can see real team building strategies beyond cap space and tanking.
The other solution is there are more options than a player making vet minimum, MLE, 22million, and then whatever form of max they qualify for.
I think teams will stop giving max rookie extensions out like candy. A player like Scottie Barnes, 5 years from now, will probably get 85% of the max he is elligible for. The problem with the matching rule is there are either really tiny contracts, big contracts, and huge contracts. So you can’t make the money work even if the you’re in the levels that allow salary aggregation.
Yeah all that is a relic of a time that doesn’t exist anymore. There is no reason to cap or floor what a player can make since there’s a total max you can spend. Let the teams divvy it how they like, trade their contracts for whatever they want, etc.
This is THE answer here
Trae Young sitting in the corner
Mfers act like they forget about Trae
Stop it, Dr. Trae’s dead, he’s locked in my basement
Me in my fantasy basketball league
based gil
…once again, 2 trades in December last year. 2 trades in January last year. 20+ trades in the 6 days of February.
There is not a dearth of trades. There is no “waiting for Giannis.” That is just clickbait and narrative driven drivel.
More than likely, there are plenty of trades that are agreed upon in principle but teams are waiting for the deadline in case a major trade shakes something loose. Similar to Charlotte trying to pounce on the Luka trade aftermath and unload Mark Williams.
This is going to be such an underwhelming deadline and its for the absolutely must mundane reason
The new CBA. Salary matching as made making trades much more difficult and teams have the 2nd apron to worry about as well which also prevents teams from making big splashes in FA
Can we trade Gil too?
To a prison cell
All the guys on the trade block are underperforming the value of their contracts to such an insane degree that they are anchors dragging their team into deep water. Unless teams want to exchange problems, there aren’t going to be deals.
The only one who doesn’t meet this criteria is Giannis, and for him to be traded would require another superstar going back to Milwaukee because no team can absorb his contract via package and still have a viable team.
Yea Nick should’ve left Gilbert alone on this one lol
༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ PRAISE THE TRADE GODS ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Alohalhololololololholaa ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
Please stop posting Gilbert. He sucks
For once, I agree with him. I’m only ever this active on Reddit when it’s tradin’ time. I don’t care who gets traded where, I just want to see some headlines, dammit.
How?
(see username) am I a joke to you?
Owners wanted to limit player mobility and punish other owners who handed out max contracts. Well. With the apron restrictions, they got what they wanted…
These dumb mofo’s don’t understand how the new CBA affects in-season (and to a certain extent, off-season) player movement. It’s just way more complicated to make trades now
“I don’t like you like this.” 😂
The nba is broken bro
GMs have zero leash now they’ll get fired for basically anything negative at all so they don’t do anything. Everyone wants teams to make moves but these are people with their jobs on the line. If they are hesitant about it, it’ll take an ownership directive to make it happen.
The Atlanta trade was able to happen quick because Saleh is in his first year and the trade market is bad.
Kleiman is not trading Ja without a good value return. He’s been there for 10 years and GM for almost 7 of those. Guaranteed he’s fired if it’s anything less than stellar, even after considering the bad market.
damn you CJ
The era of analytics will ruin the trade market. You won’t have dumb GM’s making “intuitive” moves when all trades will be run through a spreadsheet/modelled.
Now you know how Bulls fans have been feeling for years! “ Do something…. make the team better FFS Arturas!!!! “…but it’s never worked. Still the same mid ass team we always are for 5 years in a row
Stupid new CBA. Let me get excited about a team trading their 5th best starter for 8 and 9 rotation bench guys already!!!
Man is dying for new content
Typically most action happens nearer the deadline.
Fuck Gilbert Arenas
Why?
One of us
“You look like you’re talking to yourself” 💀💀💀
Warriors are desperate to help Steph and get rid of Kuminga. Memphis and Ja need a divorce for both parties. Whatever the problem is in NY between KAT and Brunson. Rockets need a PG (like Chris Paul👀).
Trades need to happen
Trade somebody goddammit!
I think GMs are afraid of doing moves because they know, jo GM has been fired for doing nothing, but GMs have been fired for doing trades. Last one Nico.
For instance, Milwaukee Bucks GM doesn’t want to be the one who goes in history as the one who traded Giannis. Because OKC cases there’s only one. When they traded Paul George and everything went perfect after then. So you trade Giannis and you perfectly can be 20 years in purgatory. Because who’s gonna go to Milwaukee??
Also imagine being Lakers GM Pelinka. You do nothing, you keep your job even if Lakers are a 2nd tound exit. At least for now. But you trade future assets in order to give LeBron and Luka a chance and if they doesn’t go as expected (ring) you’re fucked. Then LeBron retires and the narrative around mortgaging their future comes around. Or you trane Reaves, he turns into a 28-6-8 guy, perennial all star and you’re fucked.
You’re the Knicks. You have turmoil in the team but you gave all your picks and you (in paper) created a perfect starting 5. But who’s gonna trade KAT? Or do you trade Brunson? Either way you are ducked. And now people begin to talk about how you gave practically 5 1st for a 3 and D guy.
Knicks did give 5-1st’s since it was 4- NYK 1st’s (Unprotected 2025, 27, 29, 31) and 1- Bucks 1st (2025).
If for whatever reason the Knicks implode in 2028 then the Nets can Swap that 1st Unprotected as well but that’s a long shot.
In theory if the Bucks wait until the Offseason the Knicks could offer 2-1st’s since they’d be able to Trade the Player Rights to their 2026 1st and open up their 2033 1st if I’m not mistaken. But would probably still be a bit short in Draft Capital without other potential Trades.
4 different topics in 1 minute of video wow
me_irl
Lets be real Gil, you just want the Lakers to change some shit up. You dgaf about Ja, Memphis, or any other player or team mentioned
BREAKING 🚨🚨!!:
We can thank CJ
hey guys AD is still available… anyone? no? ok :(
I HAVE TO PODCAST ABOUT SOMETHING
I listen to this on Apple Podcasts so I don’t usually see the video. I really thought Gilbert was in there looking homeless the way Nick was talking this episode
Lakers are not going to make any trades I will put money on it
I thought he was in jail lol.
Everybody is waiting on Nikola….. Vucevic to be moved.
Loll
Yes
