I don’t watch hornets games. Have they fully accepted and transitioned to it being kon’s team? Kon plays more minutes than him and averages basically the same amount of points as him. And they benched him even if there was a spin to it. And they’re going to win significantly more games this year than last year.

You can tell the Hornets are tanking because they have the assets to easily add a backup point guard to their team but there’s not even rumors about them wanting to do that. The only pure point guard on their team is on an indefinite minutes restriction in all games and is brought off the bench in back to backs. This forces tons of bad lineups that make winning games impossible, even if the team is otherwise good enough to win.

Until the recent report about the Hornets about Charlotte’s interest in Towns, there’s been no indication the team wants to do anything that would improve the team on the floor. There been plenty of discourse about them selling off good players for draft capital or young players. The consensus among the fanbase is any move to improve the team would be skipping steps and the team needs another bite at the apple in the draft.
Does anyone really believe there’s been any attempt to address the backup point guard position and other teams have been holding on too tightly? It seems far more likely the front office has left a hole at backup point guard intentionally so that a team with 3 top 4 picks doesn’t win too many games.

Sure but I’m not basing my conclusion that they are tanking on the idea that they leak information. The fact is they haven’t made a trade over half way into the season. That’s the first piece of data. If they weren’t tanking, they would have gotten a deal done by now for a back up point guard. Then I’m extrapolating from there. The whole fanbase is in strong agreement that the team should be a seller if anything at the deadline. Also, the team who is trading the player typically would be the team that would leak something so whether there are rumors or not wouldn’t be affected by Charlotte’s ability to not leak anything. I’d love to be wrong and see them get in the mix this season. I’m only criticizing because I want them to do that. I’m of the contrarian position that their best option is to complete the team with 2 years of Diabate and Miller on rookie contracts.
edit - Also, what about the reports they are willing to trade Bridges and Sexton? Those seem pretty substantiated. Sometimes you don’t mind if things leak as in that situation. All the top comments in discussions on the topic advocate for tanking. The only trades favored by the majority are seller trades. Its a foolish position I agree they shouldn’t tank.
