Best way to fix tanking is to bring in relegation. Let go.
Relegation won’t stop tanking when the lottery still rewards losing.
If you get relegated your team’s income suddenly drops from 1 billion to 10 million per year while you still have to maintain a 200 million payroll amongst other expenses.
There are parachute payments though, at least in the EPL. So teams that relegated to the Championship still get paid some % of the TV revenue distribution for at least 2 years.

You’re not talking just humiliation for one season, you’re demoted to G league, are not a FA draw, probably lose/trade vets etc. then have to battle it out the whole season to make promotion back in the nba… an injury to a key player keeps you there another season? Do you still draft at the nba draft?
Even the worst NBA team would go 36-0 in the G-League and bounce back immediately, the best G-League team would to 2-80 in the NBA and be relegated back immediately. The G-League team would also immediately go broke and so would the NBA team, the billionaire owners would lose a lotttt of money, why would they vote for this lol

In that era, most of the league usually had at least one sub 70 point game a year.
In 2004 it was 22 teams and the Raptors led with 8 games scoring less than 70 points.
In 2025 it was just 1. In 1991 it was just 2. That’s all I meant.
I still remember that Pistons Nets playoff game, I don’t think the Nets even scored 60. That entire series was crazy. Except one game I think both teams scored 100 or close.

I have no idea what happened to this team. They looked decent a few weeks ago, but now it seems like everyone forgot how to play. This rookie class has been so underwhelming.

He had his moment in the spotlight vs Orlando and was absolutely on fire in OT. I do think he’s going to end up being a leader once this team has the pieces to compete and run the half second offense Jordi wants.
I watched the game against Suns on Monday. They were literally 72-68 at Halftime. They scored more points against the Suns in one half than the entire game against the Knicks lol

In 1998 the Bulls held the Jazz to 54 points in game 3 of the NBA finals. The Jazz averaged 101 PPG that year and were 3rd in the league. The Bulls were 9th.
