Did a remote 4-person Couch Co-Op play through, summary and feedback
Our setup is very special, we have two families playing PoE2 remotely via PS5 together, each family is doing Couch Co-Op so it is technically 4 person party. We went through nearly the whole campaign, in late Act 4 so far.
First huge thanks to GGG to make it even work; and I do notice the QoL improvements in Console, like the individual merchant trade, and inventory change . And we had a lot of fun together thanks to the nice engine. My friend’s family is finally hooked now.
Now here’s the major improvement suggestions, other than the bugs I will list later: add a huge icon or arrow or light pillar or huge arrow on top of each player. The shrine icon will do too. It is mostly because the most frequent question from us are: where am I !!
In the screen full of monsters, visual effects, and an army of our minions, most of the time we have trouble keep track of our own character. Most of the death comes from not knowing where your character is.
Other bugs so far:
invitation to party is bugged for 2x2 couch co-op. The issue is when both parties are already co-op, the game thinks you are already in a party? We found a work around to have one party with only one person, invite, form the party, leave, become 2x2 and invite again.
elevator of chaos trial is super slow to respond if there’s 4 persons on it. This is hilarious but also quite annoying.
some small bugs about synchronization of the world state, for example act3’s we opened the access to the water channels with that huge soul core while the other side is not in the map, they cannot open any more. We fixed it by respawning at checkpoint.
Overall it is still quite great experience, my friend’s family has a lot to learn. They have no idea bout the ascendency, no idea about trials. And I intentionally did not buy too much stuff so we wiped many times in each act’s end boss. It is actually quite fun doing it this way!
