Wemby just never looked like he had his legs under him tonight. Quarter scores really tell the story of the game: 39 -> 31 -> 22 -> 14. The Rockets definitely played some good defense as the game went on too, but you could tell by how the Spurs’ jumpers looked and the general “lazy” decision making they made in the second half that they were just tired. 2nd game of a b2b, 3rd game in 4 nights. Tough stretch to handle against a very good, physical team like the Rockets and our guys just got worn down tonight. It is what it is.

The spurs don’t have the shooters. He used to trust Barnes out of the kickout but Barnes has been an absolute disaster and Castle isn’t scaring anyone from 3. He kicks out to Vassell ALOT out of doubles. He just doesn’t trust Castle or Barnes to make their threes. And guys refuse to move like Denver does. Keldon’s shot is just too slow but he trusts him, it’s just those guys just never balance the court to make their defense pay for leaving them unguarded.

Aaron Gordon, Peyton Watson, Braun, Mpj(in the past), tim Hardaway now, etc are always filling the voids and balancing the court to give Jokic an idea of where they will be. That’s foreign for guys on the spurs.

His defense is actually slightly overrated…
Game breaking defense in the paint, but like one of the worse perimeter defenders period. Anyone that is slightly faster than him he gets blown pass. Smaller guard boom, quicker wing swishh, agile forward zoom.

Every time he matches up with KD, KD just blows past him and makes the corresponding decision that leads to a basket. Not just this game but like EVERY SINGLE GAME they’re matched up.

Also this is the type of game where Caruso’s statement stands true. Like 10 low IQ shots, still not enough strength to really get INSIDE the paint. Still too much extra fat to his offensive game. Good thing is he did just turn 22 and is year 3 so all of these are growing pains.

He’s like decent but he literally gets blown by a lot more when you have a “generational defender” attached to you. You could literally just go and watch every single game he goes up against KD dating back to his rookie year and you’ll see my statement stand true.
