Its a good signing either way, but making a video for him to opt out after year one would be a little funny
It’s also silly to end it with “perfect fit for the Mets” when they checked down to him after Tucker. Bo seems awesome and no shade on the Mets, but oh well.

As a Jays fan, I’m happy to see Bo Bichette make his money. He makes more than Vladdy now, which I find kind of crazy. That Mets owner really likes to spend big. The thing that gets me, though, is 3B for Bo? Really? With 36th percentile arm strength at shortstop…would that mean he’s in the bottom 10 percent of third basemen in terms of arm strength? At a position he has never played before? What could go wrong? Hmm…
It’s not our problem as Jays fans! In New York you guys will love his bat and hate his defence. I don’t think it will work out having him play 3B. Maybe he will wind up as DH or something else.

3B is basically SS but a little over to the right and with less responsibilities
Bo Bichette was the worst shortstop in the league defensively last season. You think he’ll do better at third base? Why exactly? His arm is weak.
Third base is an easier position to play and doesn’t require any more arm strength than shortstop does (the average arm strength has been virtually identical across the two positions since they started tracking it).
With a 36th percentile arm strength at SS last year he’d be… 36th percentile at 3B. Not great but also doesn’t disqualify him from the position judging by other players with similar arms.
Well, Bichette played bad defence at shortstop last season, he will probably play very bad defence at third base this season. I see no reason to state otherwise. He’s a very one dimensional player. He’s a slow base runner also. He’s the type of hitter that any lineup can use, I’ll say that for him. He hits for a high average, and he has decent power also. Incredible contact hitter. It’s just that his downsides are pretty bad.
Every single third baseman in the majors started as a shortstop and then moved to third in either college, the minors, or the majors, because they weren’t good enough at short. There are lots of good defensive third basemen in mlb and almost all of them are bad at shortstop.
A bad defensive third baseman is much less damaging than a bad defensive shortstop.
Third base is also a less demanding position. 1He could be “better” at third solely because the standards for third basemen are lower without any meaningful improvements.

I’m definetely going to be watching alot of Mets games this year. It is such a pleasure to see how disciplined Bo is at the plate and how effective he is at scoring with runners in scoring position.

Just don’t be too harsh on him. He’s a great player. I always thought Jays fans were way too harsh, especially in his first few seasons when he didn’t have as much plate discipline.
