Mana goes away and not life for him, he has everything converted to mana and ES. So dmg reduces mana and ES after that.

I would not trust ES in POE2, sometimes there’s that DOT that bleed you dry in a millisecond, like WTF just happened?
That’s why when you play ES you spec into CI = chaos, poison and bleed immune
This league I have tried an ES + IC combination for the first time.I was avoiding ES in HC, thinking life+armor stacking was the way to go, but now I think this could be the tankiest character I have ever played. 14k ES with 60% armour and aprox 40% evasion

but most blood mage builds swap life and mana. Their mana is usually their life and their life is their mana. So you should watch their mana bar, which actually is their life.
Mind over matter is what people use to make this safe

Yes he does play with mind over matter and has still 10k+ energy shield. Still when I see his life drop to almost zero that I still get an heart attack. Not used to see the red bar just go empty lol
So i have never played any of these characters but i tried sorceress this season. Both bloodmage and sorceress builds seem to have this thing where they stack life/mana obv but how on earth is this regen working? Thousands get restored in an instant constantly
Bloodmage can leech life from spell damage and you can make that leech to be instant. Also life on kill in equipment and jewels.

No, or least not that I’ve found, mana leech from spells seems straight up impossible. Please tell me if I’m wrong! Either it’s also life leach (idk the exact tech) or lots of mana regen + on kill + remnants.
Bloodmage have life remnants to pick up and can overflow life. You can’t die because sacrifice can’t below 1 hp and his life pool is mana and ES. Still I am not used to this so as HC player I get an heart attack

Haven’t played BM since 0.3 and Tecrod, is this how it looks for all BMs these days? Im playing BM lite, aka CoC oracle, and my HP barely moves even when machine gunning comets at bosses. I do have a covenant with the downside removed and 50% life cost efficiency and 40% on my gloves, maybe that’s why
I am not sure tbh because I don’t play bloodmage myself. He is playing CoC with frost bolt. He still is really tanky and does a lot of dmg though. But you need to see his life as his mana and his mana is his life (mind over matter)
Still gives me heart raise to see him play, I don’t get it out of my head that the life is so empty so he will die lol. In the beginning he didn’t told me about sacrifice can’t go below 1hp, so I was always screaming at him: use your life flask 🤣 he had so much fun trolling me haha
