[HIGHLIGHT] Alexander Canario fouls a ball away from Chris Sale to stay alive.
Wont ever forget where I was
It brings goose bumps to see Canario stay alive in a 1-2 count.
Some say he’s the best 1-2 foul off’er to ever do it
Many people are saying this
Sale only had a concept of a strike out
Even the announcers are speechless
2025 Mets Spring Training Legend Alexander Canario
Me watching this eight times before realizing I was watching nothing
THIS IS NOT NOTHING YOU FOOL.
Listen - I did say I watched it eight times. A major reason for doing so is because the look and sound of the smallest parts of a baseball game are beautiful and I can’t wait to hear them again.
Valid point, carry on.
Hearing the catcher mitt pop from the kitchen is divine
This is life itself. Who could think that life is nothing?
What are you talking about? Did you not see that sexually charged handshake?
God I hope they end up together
Whoooo?
you did see someone fighting to stay alive 8 times in a row
Hell of an AB
Watch it again. If you look closely, you’ll see that it’s all there.
To add context in case you guys didn’t know: Chris Sale is a pitcher for the Atlanta Braves.
For further context, is Canario still alive?
As a Reds fan I can fucking attest to him being very alive.
Nope, wait I’m thinking of Andrew Monestario.
In summation Andrew Monestario is alive and is a big stinky jerk face, but I am uncertain of the status of Andrew Candelario….shit Canario.
Back in the day John Candelaria introduces himself as “the man who threw in the 90s in the 70s, and the man who throws in the 70s during the 90s.”
Easy mistake. I was just telling my cousin’s roommate the other day that Andrew Canario is the Andrew Monestario of the Pirates.
I asked my Magic 8 Ball. It said “yes”.
Can I borrow your Magic 8 Ball? Mines the heavy one with the three holes, and its not working.
You silly goose, that’s a nonmagic eight ball
Damn, and I just asked it if I was stupid….im still waiting for an answer.
Well that’s a relief.
He’s with Wade Boggs now
He’s alive but he’s speaking Japanese now
Ok but who’s the other dude
Who don’t know Alexander Canario? Can you even call yourself a baseball fan bro?
Sorry too busy watching Touki Toussaint throw innings for the angels
really wanted him to succeed purely because he has a cool name
I spent way too high a draft pick on him in a fantasy dynasty league, almost entirely because I just wanted to say “IT’S TOUKI TIME!” as I did it.
Fair point. Have a great day!
ironically i am VERY aware of him. he turned into the pirates only good hitter in an ootp save lol
I have a hard time parsing an OOTP timeline with reality
Cubs legend
That explains everything
Were there ever a single moment that conveyed everything that baseball is about, it would be this one!
I sort of unironically agree with this
Foul ball.
Top of the 6th, 2 outs, no one on base, 1-2 the count, changeup into grounder foul ball. Does it get any better than this?
Send this clip to space in hopes it will be found by the unknown.
OMG WHAT A GREAT FOUL
The best foul?
Probably duck.
This is exactly how the offseason got me too
Try YouTube. Use the search function for your favorite pitcher. Like 1978 Yankees for Ron Guidry (or 85).
I searched for 1985 Mets and found about 30 games online that had been uploaded from VHS. I ended up getting about 12 of Dwight Gooden’s starts from his Cy Young year. It’ so excellent to have on baseball sounds in the background. You’d get some quality Phil Rizutto/Bill White games (with bonus commercials for the Money Store). Plus, the Yankees awesome theme with the animated hat and bat really is awesome. You guys should play that as the Yanks take the field.
Absolutely legendary moment. I personally think this is one of the most important moments in baseball history. The decision to foul that one off is extraordinary. We won’t witness something like this for another few months.
How many people can say they’ve witnessed Alexander Canario fouling off a ball to stay alive on a 1-2 count?
35,827 people apparently.
Lucky…
Good to see Canario doing well. Always believed he had this kind of production in him. Wish the Cubs had room for a bat like this.
I thought he’d develop real well and then he got traded to the pirates and I was like ah fuck
I miss baseball so much that I watched this 2 times
2 times too little.
Well now that I’m here again I’ll watch it 2 more times… you were right I feel even better now!
You’re right. The 4th time was really what brought it home. Thanks.
And that’s the beauty of the game. Sale was trying to bring it home but Alexander the Great was able to stop him from achieving his only goal
RIP
He’s with Eloy now
He’s very much alive, like Wade Boggs.
Yes, alive in our thoughts and dreams. RIP Wade
Wade Boggs is alive. He lives in Tampa, Florida
R.I.P. Gone but never forgotten!
I remember this, it was the game where Canario met that sick little boy before the game who asked him to just get a piece of three pitches to keep the count at 1-2 🥹
The Mighty Ducks was written after this moment.
Pretty sure Canario called Sale a cake eater after this pitch and the rest basically wrote itself!
Right up there with Babe Ruth calling his shot.
Babe Ruth could never foul a ball off to stay alive. He’d strike out.
Babe Ruth was out there hitting bombs off mailmen and coal miners. A well trained modern pitcher like Chris Sale would get a Chalamet strikeout with both hands tied behind his back
Pretty funny mental image of the Bambino pointing to the ground outside of the third base line instead of the center field stands.
Umpire with great T-Bagging form, as always.
I knew you were an umpire fan…
Since I was a boy. I always wanted to grow up and T-Bag with my hand gently placed on the shoulder of another man, both of us wearing a mask and helmet.
Donated to your GoFundMe. We’re gonna get you to the big leagues, bud.
Every time I think our fanbase is a bunch of uninspired, self-loathing, whiners someone comes along and proves me wrong. Thanks.
This is what happens when we are deprived of baseball. We start watching foul ball highlights.
I’m so deep in baseball withdrawals that this clip really hit.
Enjoy it before the “mods” remove it.
I like how the announcers don’t even say anything.
The best announcers know when to shut up. Genius announcers here.
Sometimes it’s best to let the crowd do the talking. A true masterclass from everyone involved
I also wouldn’t mind if he did it like Andres Cantor: “Foooooooooooooooooooooooooul! Fooooooooooooooooooooooooooul! Foooooooooooooooooooooooo oh-oh-oh-oh-oh ooooooooooooooooul!”
Yes, that’s technically talking, but he’s still letting us take it in
Great ones know when to lay out
How can you not be romantic about baseball?
Because my girlfriend would not approve of me cheating on her with baseball
The one from “Canada” that no one’s ever met?
Shove a baseball up your ass she’ll never know
We had a bad year but golly were there some great moments
This was the best moment, no?
I’m so baked and confused rn
Met legend Alexander Canario
No, I’m pretty sure this is a Pirates game. But nice try!
This reminds me that Corey Koskie is underrated
I want to know what the awkward handshake in the background is all about……
HIM bet you $40,000 that Canario puts the next pitch in play?
HER: Done. It’s a bet!
[light crack of bat]
HIM: Oh no!
Forget BC and AD, from now on history will be ordered according to BACFABAFCSTSA and AACFABAFCSTSA (Before Alexander Canario fouls a ball away from Chris Sale to stay alive and After Alexander Canario fouls a ball away from Chris Sale to stay alive).
TRUE!
This is the kind of shit that gets dudes excited in the offseason. Hell yeah.
Tears in my eyes at this absolute masterclass
Well what happened next??
You won’t believe what happens next
Don’t spoil it. God…
Do you not like a good foul ball!
I think we can all agree that this is the best moment in baseball history
Nice to see that offseason content is still as exciting as ever
If he just would’ve fouled that off a little better he wouldn’t be in Japan!
Did he die?
No, he stayed alive
This is actually the second pitch at this count he fouled off - Here is the first
Wtf
Crazy I’m early commenting on this highlight.
Build the statue now.
Hopefully soon we’ll see you get to announce that Nick Sogard is the regular second baseman for the Red Sox
I don’t need to announce what’s already true.
It really bothers me with how sexualized this was. Enough is enough, y’all….
Is this because the umps have guns?
How can you not be romantic about baseball
Great fight or the greatest fight?
Wat
The real HOFers
Finally, the Pirates getting some respect around here. Can’t wait to see what Canario does this season I hope the Pirates lock him up for 10 years.
Good job, Canario. 😀
most exciting play in baseball
Hands down, top 5 moment in sports history right here!
HES STAYING ALIVE LETS GOOO

Iconic
Anyone here watch ESPN Classic? Yeah, I did, I saw baseball game on there. The guy hit a foul ball. Fucking classic, man!
RIP Mitch
Never heard of this dude but looking at his baseball reference he has incredible upside. Thanks for the post. I’m gonna stash this guy for the late rounds in my fantasy draft.
Nice foul there honestly. That was a nasty pitch from Sale
The storm clouds are gathering.
If this doesn’t make you feel something, then you’re not a baseball fan.
Top ten RESPECT moments in baseball right there
Ok
Nope. You are to be amazed by this foul ball.
Might be top ten moments of the year?!
Please post the most random highlights every day until the season starts
All my homies love 1-2 foul tips to stay alive
So what’s the joke here?
Wait, what’s on sale here?
High IQ at bat
I’ll never remember where I was when this happened
