Do they have plans to use throwback uniforms and logos at some point during the season? They absolutely should.
The team had a period where they wore the throwback white panel hats last season. I hope they do more throwback stuff

They wore the regular white panel hats with the current logo that have been in rotation for years now.
They do choose to wear them less frequently than the all blue though, I think, but the white panels have been there as either mains or alts more or less since the black jays were retired.
It’s been much, much more rarely they’ve used the throwback ones with the old logo.
Were they the regular ones? I thought they were the special edition ones that they wore for the hall of fame (?) weekend festivities.

I really really dig the blue/white/babyblue stripes and the baby blue number shadow, and the lighter blue in the jay’s tuft… it’s fresh.
But I wouldn’t really want to see that logo with it. I love it, but it belongs in the 80’s. It doesn’t match the “freshness”.
Much like they updated that logo to make our current one, I’d like to see some fresh interpretation of the current one. I have a cool vision of one, kinda lower poly count but sleaker/‘meaner’… wish I was an artist.
Nothing has been announced yet, but I hope they bring back as many old jerseys as possible. Even the crappy black ones.
The new logo is fine, but people are going to be wearing the old logo 50 years from now. It’s a timeless classic.

I feel like the Mariners were everyone’s second team for a long time. I still root for them when they play anyone else.
I’m the same with you guys tbh. I loved your logo as a kid (still do), so I definitely identify with Okomoto’s kid lol. I don’t enjoy the takeover of our stadium, but I’ve rooted for you guys when it’s not against us. I definitely remember rooting for your teams in the WS in the 90s. I didn’t think I could even watch last year’s WS, but I caught myself pulling for you guys.
Just wanted to say that, even though the ALCS didn’t go your way, I can’t speak highly enough of the Mariners fans who came to Toronto. Very passionate and all dressed up.

I think the current logo is an improved version of the old logo. The old one doesn’t look as striking in my opinion, but fine as a throwback.
The new bird looks fiercer as well whereas this one looks cuter. I love both though

There is a version with the baseball but it’s rarely used
Technically MLB rules prohibit use of a baseball as part of an on-field logo, since it could mess up the batter. The Jays occasionally use the new version with a baseball on corporate and promotional materials but aren’t allowed to use it for on-field hats or uniforms. The Mariners logo is grandfathered in, since it predates the rule, and the Brewers revived “ball and glove” logo is considered distinct enough.

Nah, I much prefer the original in terms of design. The current logo while fine is a bit wonky, and that awkward large maple leaf ruins it.
I agree, the current one is also really cool! I just love the baseball element mixed with the Jays logo a bit more, but that’s purely subjective.

We had an awkward phase in the 00’s where we thought we needed a letter as our logo like so many other teams. We had the T in our traditional colourway, then the J using the black, blue and gray/silver.
They weren’t bad, but it was overdone, and frankly, unnecessary.
I’m talking about the one with the bird seductively hiding its naked body behind the T while reaching up to fondle a ball.
The old logo is great, but I feel like it just belongs as an old logo and the current logo with the deeper blue and less chubby beak is perfect.

I like it. Remember when MLB clearly forgot about its 150th anniversary and they put together a logo at the last minute that was just the MLB logo with the number 150 next to it? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I can’t see MLB rewriting its own history, and they’ve already settled on a year and celebrated its anniversary in 1969 and 1994. Pretty much all early baseball history is a little fact mixed with healthy amounts of fiction. Heck, even the Baseball Hall of Fame location is based on an origin story that is almost 100% fake.

When I hear “Mariners” and “Blue Jays”, my brain still tells me “oh those are the new franchises!” and it’s been fifty damn years.

Not bad. Seattle objectively has a nicer one in my opinion. Note I’m a Jays fan but I think Seattle was way ahead to start commemorating the 50th season - their ig has a lot of videos of great plays from M’s history. Jays current marketing people aren’t really oriented to the team history
