Honestly the way the team is playing this year Al is probably not a great fit. The bigs are being asked to do A LOT of running and spamming screens… I’m not convinced Al at this stage would be able to do that for us.

I’ll always love Horford but no. Horford is almost certainly done after this contract. If Brad makes any move at the deadline I’d rather it be for someone who could potentially help the Jays compete in the long term.

Anyone saying no, I get it, but if you can acquire a guy that can actually play 10-12 minutes while giving up nothing, you do it. If it doesn’t work out, no harm no foul.

I think that as a vet minimum buyout, he probably has some value as a double-big option with Queta. I think there are still a few 14-point, 8 rebound, decent defense on slow bigs games left in him. There’d be no adjustment needed at all to bring him in.

But if there is a 27-year-old project out there, then that person should get the slot. Even if Horford can have some games where he helps, he is a zero in terms of helping the team build for the future. This should still be a year when the primary goal is preparing for next year when we can spend again and Tatum is fully healthy. Horford doesn’t appear to move the needle enough against the good teams we need to beat.
