yeah thats the misconception thats been bugging me for a while when someone brings up as literally only 11 dribbles 😂 dont get me wrong, 11 dribbles on scoring possessions and getting 60 is still insane, and it is true, but if you watch the game, he already has 10 dribbles in the first 5 minutes of the game. its been so long since i’ve counted the actual ones, but i think after 30s i stopped counting

Some media members have pointed out that the media ballots being public now is the reason and it probably doesn’t happen without that. Adds an extra pressure to go with convention over your gut if there’s a certain amount of momentum behind somebody.

You could make an easy argument for Kawhi that year, for example. But if you were “that guy” who didn’t vote Steph people would kill you (the people who voted Iverson and Melo put their own name to it).

Oh baseball HoF voters are the WORST at this. Well, not voters in general, but just one or two awful ones who take the indefensible position of, “better players weren’t unanimous, so XXX can’t be unanimous.” That’s how you get one person not voting for Ichiro. It’s so dumb. a HoF vote total doesn’t represent how good one player was compared to another. That’s simply not how it works.

And also…it’s very stupid that previous greats weren’t unanimous. The cranky old man who decides, “well history screwed up these votes, so we need to screw up every vote until the end of time” is such an a-hole. It’s the classic, “we did this awful thing when I was growing up, so now I need to do it to you” argument.

Actually I did the math and it’s only 9 suspensions

First 16 are free, then 1 game suspension for each 2 more Ts

So after 16, suspended 1 game, then play a game and pick up 1 tech, then pick up 2 the next game. 1 game suspension for 3 techs. Call it the 3 for 1 special.

Do that 8 more times, and you’re at 40 techs and can pick up 2 more the next game to break the record

Edit: They hand out suspensions by the number of techs apparently, so the 3 for 1 special doesn’t work. Would be 13 total suspensions

it depends, if the player is simply being obnoxious they wouldn’t do anything, it isn’t illegal and they are hurting their team more than the brand of the league

The problem isn’t with picking teams that have positions, it’s just people being dumb and not taking into account the context that this is where you stand relative to your peers at a positon

I like having positions in All-NBA– it tells a much richer story when you start looking at it historically and actually think about it for more than 1 second.

If we just want “here are the best 5 players of the year”, you can usually get that from MVP voting.

It also ignores that Lebron was the biggest reason the heat came back and the biggest reason they won game 7. Before I went back to watch it I only heard that narrative but it’s insane to think watching . Heat were down double digits in the 4th in g6 and Lebron went crazy on both ends, he dragged them ckose and Ray adddrd the contribution they needed to get to OT and win ( I maybe misremembering but didn’t Chalmers and Bron step up in ot?).

G7 Bosh had zero points lol, so did Mike miller- 2 starters lol, Lebron was performing heroics in g7 and end of g6 but we only hear the Ray Allen shot . It’s a great defining shot but it doesn’t change the result of that series alone .

Also the Ray Allen one is a convenient “what if” because it can be boiled down to a single iconic play, but it’s very easy to “what if” Lebron into more titles. The obvious one is “what if the Warriors didn’t sign KD the ONE OFFSEASON where that would have been possible because of an unprecedented cap jump?” He’d likely get another title. Wasn’t that the year both Kyrie and Kevin Love were hurt? LeBron dragged that team to the finals with Timofey Mozgov and Matthew Dellavedova as his costars. I remember watching those games thinking he was doing something absolutely inhuman by even keeping them in those games.

I think the fact that Igoudala won Finals MVP speaks to that. I know there have been a few times in sports history when the finals MVP goes to a player on the losing team (if I’m not mistaken Jerry West might be the only NBA example). I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a time that a player on the losing team was so good that the Finals MVP went to a player on the winning team purely because he was tasked with guarding the best player on the floor.

People ignore his back injury weirdly . His shot since the 2012 season has always been around average or slightly better ( considering he takes a lot of pull ups he graded out as a good shooter since 2012 and great some years like last 2 years- tho he went 0-25 or something in one stretch with once again an injury ) , so I do wonder if he’d of been able to atleast swing game 1 that went to ot with kyrie injury with it- then if next two games occur the same the gsw warriors woukd solve some issues they had against that matchup but be down 3-0 and one hot shooting night wins it.

It’s kind of silly just in and of itself to assume OP didn’t give an example meant to convey exactly what they’re asking for, and then criticize that example and all the comments that clearly fit into that understanding as not being real. All those other comments are just people who actually understood the post.

In either case, whatever you’re trying to say sounds contradictory. People will often use AI’s practice quote to argue he was lazy when they just don’t like him, so by your logic this isn’t a real example because it’s used for petty gripes.
