[Charania] Breaking: Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler has suffered a season-ending torn right ACL, sources tell ESPN.
Crazy that this is the second time Al has left us for a contender only for the tanking celtics to end up better
Part of the process
He’ll come back when we’re ready for a title run and our bench has matured
It seems fated that Al will keep pushing and pulling like a magnet.
The year is 2061. A 75 year old Horford rises up to block a shot by the opposing center who is many decades his junior. Jaylen Brown on the sidelines hops up and shouts “I got 12 grandkids!”
We’re ready, boss
Don’t even know if I’d want him back at this point
I’m the same. I don’t hold any ill will towards him but I’m over the Horford experience.
I see him like an ex gf. She leaves you for a guy with more money then when it doesn’t work out she comes back. You welcome her back with open arms just to have her leave again. This time she’s much older and the years are starting to show. And while she was away you found not one but two replacements. Neither would be as good as the first girl in her prime but her prime was long ago. Do you really want to risk ruining a potentially good thing for one more fling with your old flame?
If we can pick up a center that’s an upgrade now and for the future I’m all for it but unfortunately Horford is not that guy
Not as a starter but he’d be a great change of pace big, and could play next to Queta.
So like, three weeks from now?
No better way to make our bench mature than to add Big Al!
Everyone who hates Ray Allen honestly al Horford is worse when it comes to loyalty
I honestly don’t understand the Horford hate..? Both times he left us were on understandable terms. Our cap space was much better because he left and it gave Brad more to work with. Him leaving was to both parties benefit.
Al reads too many r/bostonceltics posts in the offseason.
He bought into all the talk about tanking for one of the big 4 in the draft.
We aren’t taking the first time, Philly just offered more money
We had just lost kyrie and hadn’t gotten Kemba yet, so he was definitely leaving for a “better” team
We got Kemba the same offseason we lost Al.
Sixers were considered better but he left for money. They overpaid him cuz they thought he was the finishing piece.
I understand, he left before we got Kemba and it looked like we were going to contend comparably to the previous season.

Dog, I was there. He committed to leaving before the Kemba stuff played out
Our memories play tricks all the time

I don’t like Jimmy whatsoever but it’s never fun to see serious injuries to any player. RIP GSW, and get well soon Jimmy.
I like Jimmy. He’s ok.
JIMMYS DOWN!
Jimmy might have a compound fracture.. Jimmy’s going into shock!!
Obviously this sucks but reminded me that gsw signed him to a 120 mil extension at the age of 36. Lebron has warped what people expect out of athletes in their mid late thirties
He was having a good season until this freak injury happened.
Not 60 mil good
they got him for wiggins and filler because of the fact that whoever traded for him had to pay him that
worth the trade off imo
I can see that argument but personally I would rather have just had wiggins for 28 mil for 2 years because of the new cap rules and try trade for better depth
Eh, they’re just doing whatever they can to stay competitive with Curry
They have done a poor job of it

Time to come back to us, Alfred Joel Horford Reynoso!
We’re like that sad loser with low self esteem and a toxic ex when it comes to Al Horford. Even if he keeps leaving us we still keep welcoming him with open arms.
Just can’t quit him
I just said something similar before seeing your post. I kinda feel the same way. No ill will towards Al but it’s time to move on
Pathetic comment from a wannabe alpha bro.
We like Al. This isn’t every girl who ever dumped you.
He left us for $120m dollars. It is ridiculous to expect someone in their prime to turn down a 4-year 120 million max contract to take a hometown discount. You seem like a spurned ex. You’re just angry.
I think the fans that are mad that he went to the warriors are complete children just like the fans that are mad that Ray Allen went to the heat.
We f****** tried to trade Ray Allen in the year before and people are still mad that he chose to go win a title somewhere else.
Don’t be an infant
I can’t imagine there’s any way to make the money really work but damn would it be fun to get him back for the rest of the year.
If they decide to not worry about the tax then it’s easy. Take him into the Porzingus TPE
One of the greatest Rivals we’ve ever had, I hate that for him, he’s an incredible player
Of all the players from our rival teams, Jimmy and Bam might be my favorites.
If he was a Celtic, I’d love him, for sure.
I wish him a speedy recovery.
Bam was fine. Jimmy’s antics made him a twat.
Not a jimmy fan but sucks to see him go down. Could be the end of his career at his age. Or at least this version of him.
Sucks for Jimmy man
Whatta bummer. Get well, Jimmy!
Man I think those years of Jimmy haunting us and the Bucks are forever behind us
Hate to see he never made a similar run out west and hope he recovers well
A few days ago he got mad at a journalist asking about how getting older affects his play…
And just like that Al screws himself over twice, we good bro
Lol just as other people in this thread have said, can’t help but be annoyed with Horford’s decisions even though I love him for what he had done for the team.
Why can’t you just be our Haslem bro
sad for jimmy
What’s with the Al slander? There wasn’t many people this summer thinking we would be a top 3 team in the East😂. Al leaving was probably for the best.opened up a lot of minutes for Quetta and Walsh. Gave us a Garza as well
I mean I don’t blame Al really whatsoever, he did what was best for his career. But at the same time, he twice left Boston the second it wasn’t the absolute title favorite - the second time in spite of all ready accomplishing pretty much everything here. He’s a competitor who wants to win another, can’t really blame him for that. It’s just a shame that despite his immense resume as a Celtic, his Celtic legacy feels a bit held back by the fact he refused to stay through any remotely difficult time
Not just “the absolute title favorite,” the Celtics had just gotten clowned in the conference semis, it seemed at the time that Cleveland, Detroit, New York, Indiana and maybe Orlando were about to be better and were all young teams, there was no guarantee that Tatum was going to return at all in 2026 or ever be the same player, and Horford’s window to wait a couple of years to see if a team could survive a partial implosion of talent and then rebuild with half of a new roster was not very long. By even the predictions of many Celtics loyalists, this was a play-in team this season–they weren’t even close to contenders, let alone close to a title favorite.
Like I said, I don’t truly hold it against Horford. He was a great Celtic who will be remembered for it, and I understand the contexts of his decisions. That being said, though, simply put you can’t have your cake and eat it, too. He left not once but twice when it was the easier road. Again, understandable decision. But he’s more of a good journeyman than a Celtic lifer or anything, and I don’t think it’s unfair to take that away from his legacy here. Also, it’s purely semantics but I think you’re being a little harsh when you said the Celtics got clowned in the semis. They did poorly, but JT went down, JB had an injury he got surgery for right after the season, KP was out - still poor loss, but c’mon, what other team would’ve won without their top three players?
Not many teams. That is true.
Careers are short and horford’s remaining time especially so. He was by and large an enormous contributor to the Celtics winning and wants to maximize his chance of success while he can. Celtics this year were without their top 5 in the league guy and needed to shed salary to reset, Al was 100% right to choose to leave based on the data in front of him.
I don’t like Jimmy for his tough guy poseur, it still sucks to see one of our long-time archenemies suffer this
Dennis Reynolds “shit, I don’t care”
He was screaming and in a lot of pain. The mics could even pick up his yells. It was brutal I feel for him.
I’ve torn both my ACLs, by far the most painful thing to happen to me.
Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Then you had Rondo who didnt even know he tore his and was playing on a torn ACL lol
Yeah that was crazy. He must have some high pain tolerance.
Remember when he dislocated his elbow against the heat and played through?
Same thing with Powe. Didn’t even really feel it. ACL tears are weird, it seems they can be brutally painful or a slight discomfort when it happens. It’s not like an ankle sprain where it’s excruciating every time.
It really depends on the person. I was involved in a professional action sport for many years and seen multiple torn ACL’s in person. Never once seen someone scream in pain from it. One of them didn’t get their knee scanned for like 6 months.
But to be fair I have also seen a buddy fall from like 8 feet up to concrete, break his arm and crack his kneecap in half and casually say “we need to go to the hospital” so I did hang out with a pretty tough crowd.
Your knee joint can clip your ACL like scissors and yeah you might not even notice.
Or you can crunch and twist your knee after a close out, tear your ACL, sprain all the other ligaments and break your knee joint at the same time.
I don’t think Jimmy has a low pain tolerance, I think this hurt like hell.
Like I said depends on the person.
Also like I said I have seen people break all sorts of things and not scream out in pain like that. Maybe yell a “fuck” in anger, but rolling around yelling in pain… never seen it.
I think Butler probably actually does have a low pain tolerance. I think a lot of basketball players do. Sure they can take being banged up and play a bit sore, but as for acute real pain, they seem to react like crazy over it.
You must have been working with some strong people.
Idk why you’re trying to grandstand about all the people you know who don’t feel pain.
Tearing ligaments and breaking bones hurts.
I never said they didn’t feel pain. I took hard slams too. I felt loads of pain plenty of times. I still didn’t roll around screaming.
I’m curious, what sport are you referring to?
One that’s done on concrete, stairs, rails, etc.
Not sharing as I already have commented a bunch of identifying info on this account and dealt with deranged housing doomers angry with me.
Oh man haha i hear that.
I think I’m picking up what you’re putting down.
Playoff Jimmy annoyed me beyond measure but it made for some great series with the Heat. I’m pretty indifferent to him when not playing the Celtics but this sucks, I hope he’s able to come back from this.
Damn that sucks. Get well soon Jimmy
The Celtics don’t want Horford back. When Brad announced that he had decided to go to another team, you could hear it in his tone, they won’t be welcoming him back again
have we given big al a curse or sum
Jimmy is still one of Boston’s public enemy #1’s as far as I’m concerned, these comments seem like y’all forgot about ECF ‘23, and Al is a clown for ditching us to go ring chase with him. Good luck GSW fans
Hate having to play against him but Jimmy rules. That really sucks for GSW. ACL injuries suck
Saw it in real time, looked ugly. I am not a Jimmy fan but never like seeing a guy go down like that. So much for watching a Curry playoff run now 🙃
Bad news for OKC’s Clippers pick
I mean Al should ask for a buyout. He’s always 20% improved playing in green
Why is this thread now people talking about how Al Horford “screwed himself”
What a bunch of fucking clowns in here.
Hope Jimmy can come back next year and still be a great player.
That sucks man
I wish Jimmy Butler the best in his recovery, and hope that this does not end his career. He was a great player.
Yeah seems like we could trade for Al if we really wanted to
Nah. I love Al but that ship has left the port for the final time. I’m not sure he’s worth giving up any draft capital for at this point in his career
He’d be amazing back here knowing the system. What’d it cost?
So how long before Al Horford is back?
Some absolute fucking losers in this thread I see. Smh.
Couldn’t have happened to a better person
Messed up.
