[Highlight] After 9 lead changes and the game being tied 14 times, the Detroit Pistons get the final stop to defeat the Boston Celtics 104-103 in Detroit. They win the 6th of their last 7 overall to move to 31-10 on the season.
Cade had 14 assists and 0 turnovers
Celtics had 13 assists and 14 turnovers
We usually have a lot turnovers too, but I think even tho Cade had a broke jumper he ran the offense pretty well.
This and solid defense are what saved us. Casuals only see his splits tho
and cade is part of that solid defense
The blocks were nasty
That Neemi rejection was traumatizing for me.
cade is a big big part of that defense. rim protector and ball hawk. never gets sped up. if luka played great defense (and also played with a bum wrist that fucks up his jumper)
Yup. That’s the mark of a true superstar. When you can greatly impact a game despite your shot not falling
Also we really need to rest him until his wrist heals. It’s starting to be concerning.
Yeah we have a brutal schedule coming up, need him to probably sit until the wrist is normal. It’s tough cause he can still play make but his shot hasn’t been there for the past 3-4 games.
I’m good with him taking at least the next 3 games off. We have Pels, Rockets, Kings. And the team has been able to win games without him before.
Hell, even until the Knicks game if needed. 5 of our next 9 are pretty winnable without Cade. Those 2 + Warriors, Nets and Wizards.
Agreed, overall maybe some short term losses but I’d rather have that wrist feeling normal in February than going into playoff time with it bothering him still. Who knows, maybe it’s something they realized won’t get better without surgery but he can play with it.
But if it’s this lingering injury that just needs rest, no reason not to have him sit that slate out.
For looking so sleepy he sees the court well
Detroit basketball is back
YOU KNOW THE PISTONS WON AGAIN!
Until Jason Tatum comes back soon
I love Tobias Harris. Was solid for us years ago on the Reggie/drummond pistons, we move him for Blake griffin, and then comes back to help bring the franchise out of the gutter.
I hope he stays and takes a pay cut when his contract expires. Feels right for him to retire a Piston.
shit he’s well worth what he’s getting paid right now and he’s got versatility in his game that i think will age well
People talk about his contract like it’s egregiously bad, but 2/\(52 for him isn’t really all that terrible. I honestly think his veteran leadership was a big part of the turnaround. While his stats say he should probably be making \)18/year, his contract is far from one of the worst in the league. I like the guy and it’s really clear his teammates do too.
Totally agree. He’s providing a calming vet presence and is always hitting big shots when things are dicey. His value far exceeds his metrics.
It’s a good contract for now, but injuries are going to become a problem. We still don’t have a long-term solution at the 4 spot.
I think it’s a shame he’s the easy contract to move because I like him. And I have to imagine he’s got a lot of respect in the locker room as well.
Nights like these are good reminders of what he he brings for the team.
When the young guys got nervous and struggled in the bright lights of the playoffs last year, he really stepped up. I was iffy on him all year but that veteran presence in the playoffs made a world of difference. He kept us in a lot of those games.
Something I’d like to see is how often he’s the one that breaks another team going in a run. I’m not sure if that’s tracked but eye test says he’s the one to usually gets us back on track in the regular season too.
This is shaping up to be another great regular season
This is shaping up to be another great playoffs as well
Thunder aren’t as dominant as once believed and there’s a lot of West teams to challenge us. The East is seemingly wide open and very competitive
East might be more fun to watch this year honestly. The top 5 teams in the west are basically locks (literally the current top 5 seeds)
Is it crazy if I think the Suns can move up past both the Lakers and Rockets
Jalen Green plays his 3rd game of the season today… just sayin
Are you guys excited about that or nervous he might change the team chemistry?
Honestly excited. He’s going to add a layer of gravity to an already fluid offense.
Obviously if he starts forcing shit every night there could be issues but I don’t think he’ll have that level of expectation the way he did in Houston.
I think if suns fans weren’t already so high on Ott’s coaching we’d be more nervous.
A little bit with how hungry the bench guys have been with increased minutes. At the same time I don’t think we don’t have the talent to be contenders without his scoring punch and presence. Booker would also benefit from some pressure relief the more scorers that can create shots for themselves the better he’ll be able to operate
Suns have beaten the wolves a bunch this year too. Don’t think they’ll pass us in the standings but I don’t really want to play them in the playoffs tbh
Finals will probably be boring though. West is in its own class this year
Agreed, I feel like the Pistons are the only team that are down for the job. Knicks are collapsing, and the Cavs just suck in the playoffs (although I would love for them to prove me wrong).
I know i’m biased but I still feel like JT is the biggest wild card in the East. If he comes back and looks good, I think we can compete with anyone
although a little boost to the center rotation would help a lot too
Yeah after the Pistons game tonight I’m scared of a potential Celtics team with JT returning, even at less than 100%
Coming back and being remotely close to what you were that close to an Achilles tear is rough, though. Definitely not discounting it as a possibility, but it’d be one of the most impressive recoveries I’ve seen if he’s able to contribute anywhere close to a high level this postseason.
I love my Pistons, but Boston with a healthy Tatum will be just as dangerous as Detroit, if not more
I love the year they’re having, but Detroit will absolutely get “upset” by a team in a 7 game series that has shooters if they spam zone on defense and chuck 3’s and crash the boards on offense. In the east alone, Cleveland, NYK, Boston and maybe Milwaukee (sneaky good at 3 point shooting) have the tools to do this.
It’s the recipe to beat them in a series and you’re seeing more and more teams like Boston deploy it vs. getting dunked on into oblivion with man to man. D White ain’t gonna shoot 1-11 every game.
Detroit absolutely needs to add a 3 and D specialist and be ready to give up some capital for them. A player like Bane or NAW is the last piece the team needs for a deep playoff run.
As it stands any team that can spam zone and put up 45 3’s at 35% will beat them more than lose to them.
The Cavs are underwhelming in the regular season this year.
Ehh, probably, but you never know what’s gonna happen in the playoffs. Nobody expected the Pacers to make it out of the East last year, let alone push the Thunder to 7
i really, truly thought that was going in. hell of a game
Really a damn fun watch. I think both teams had to have liked what they showed. Clean last look probably a true 50⁄50 ball.
I think both teams can poiny to stuff they liked and stuff they need to work on, which is… pretty much what you’d expect from a down-to-the-wire matchup between the 1 and 2 seeds
YKTPWA
Great Game….That was a good look by JB, just didn’t fall….
My stomach literally dropped when he shot it. It looked too clean to not fall.
Went and saw this for me first ever nba game. Lemme tell you I was not fucking disappointed
Playoffs energy
I don’t think I’ve ever seen LCA this electric during a regular season game im gonna cry man
Smart play by Javonte to attempt to swat the ball away as far as possible when he saw it going off.
He decommitted, but that shit was gonna go flying if he didn’t hear the buzzer
Dude has been ridiculously locked on on defence for us.
ngl javonte is an A tier defender.
all the way down pistons have good defenders. it must be annoying for other teams to watch Ausar and Duren check out only for Beef Stew, Ron Holland, and Javonte check in
Loved Javonte when he was on the Celtics. Great defender, great energy guy, just couldn’t do a single thing on offense besides dunk
NGL, Brown is ballin’ this season.
Boston lost by 1 to the top seed without Tatum. Imagine if they had JT ever since the season began
Crazy how this game made it even more clear how weak the eastern conference is
Well the west runs through charlotte so not sure what your point is buddy
didn’t a full strength OKC just lose to Miami recently?
Absolute cinema right here
East on notice
This honestly might’ve been the top game this season. Incredibly close from the start
holy fuck i know pistons fans shat themselves, that looked like it was cash three seperate times lmao
6 7
=42
Rip
I got a question, why are arenas allowed to play music during possessions? Feels kind of bullshit lol.
Like the other day I’m watching a game and they weren’t even playing music it was basically sound effects, like mfers playing the Sonic drowning theme during an offensive possession for the opponent.
You fuckin’ love some ethical basketball in your ass or what?
Detroit and Boston great games are back. As a kid who started watching nba in 2004, I’m pretty excited
Knicks were #2 in the east and are 2-7 since then. Hoping the same for Boston.
Unless an injury to Jaylen Brown happens, the Celtics are going nowhere. The Knicks have the “NBA Cup” curse going on right now.
Unless an injury to Jaylen Brown happens
Shut straight the fuck up.
i dont know if my heart can take a 7 game series of this
The type of game I can’t even be mad about. GG.
throwback to the sub’s “tatum missed clutch shot” compilation era
Some nice pics from the game https://imgur.com/a/gtZFfA2
Jb haters get to live another day
The defensive identity of this Pistons squad is legit this year. Holding a high-powered Celtics offense to just 103 points when they usually average 116.5 is a massive statement. Detroit is now on pace for a 62-win season if they maintain this 31-10 rhythm through the All-Star break. Cade is finally looking like a top 5 MVP candidate with the way he managed those 14 ties tonight.
So Surprised that didn’t drop
Happy for you Detroit.
They’ve won how many out of the last how many? XD
Seeing the Pistons close out games like this is a clutch defensive stop masterclass that we haven’t seen in Detroit for over a decade. This 31-10 run is no fluke because their elite rim protection has completely changed the math for opposing drivers in the paint. Absolute game changer for the playoff seeding race in the East. Brown > Tatum
I expect this kind of patheticness from fans of other teams, but as a Celtics fan you should be disgusted trying to pin them against each other instead of lifting them both up. They’re a lethal duo. Fans like you like drama, not basketball.
Brown is a stud. Love his game and demeanor out there.
Nah
Who won fmvp
Who led the team in points, assists, and rebounds?
Well Iggy won fmvp in 2015,so that must mean he was the best player on the court /s
The Piss Towns might be legit!
