As much as I would love to see the Knicks collapse and get swept in round 1, I think ya’ll should calm down. The regular season is pretty meaningless especially right now when it’s the dog days and guys lose focus. The Knicks are still one of the 3 most talented teams in the East

The good thing for the Knicks is that all the teams behind them are dropping games too. It’s not ideal to be losing 9 of 11 and showing signs of bad something. But it’s gonna take time to turn it around and everyone losing helps

Reminds me of the Buffalo Bills. Knicks should be 1st or 2nd in a year where the East is weaker than it should be with no Pacers, Tatum-less Celtics, and the Cavs also underpeforming. Although unlike the Bills the Knicks are just playing way below their talent level for some reason and are looking way less impressive against way less talented teams

The hospital nuggets have a great record in large part from beating up on the east (the hornets are an anomaly). I pray eastern conference teams just get some crazy lottery luck and better FOs.

the main controllable aspect of the roster build they actually fucked up

losing Hartenstein was the domino that toppled the monument Leon was patiently building for years

but them firing Thibs was the wrong move for sure they look like an uncoached team altogether now - no defense, offense clicks all hot or all cold, just like a rec league squad.

Thibs is a great coach and it was stupid to fire him

All those picks that could have been used for Giannis instead going to their cross town rival

Granted it’s hindsight but I felt even then that those picks could have been saved for a better player

The KAT trade was fine imo, that was pretty fair value, but the Mikal one is such a shame. That trade happened before the Great Luka Doncic Trade Market Crash that seems to have nuked everyone’s value. Probably could have gotten him for a third of that price had they waited a year.

And these were the two players who reportedly didn’t like Thibs, yet now with Mike Brown the team is even worse.

yep it was a different time in the NBA though and the likelihood of Giannis or anyone like him becoming available during the short window NY was looking at was slim to none

Mikal was supposed to be the perfect add when the team was built on depth and chemistry - when they still had Hartenstein, Randle, DiVo

once the Hartenstein domino fell they needed a center and there were no decent centers available

running out Randle small ball was not viable, Leon pulls the KAT trade, the Mikal fit suddenly makes less sense …

its really not that bad a trade, 2 of those picks are already trash…

In a league where great players often miss 1/3rd of every season, Mikal plays every single game net+ on both sides of the ball, guards multiple positions … but it was slightly impatient by NY

they saw that run with Brunson and no Randle beating 76ers and just a premature bust by their front office after steadily building something and retaining assets for like 5 solid years

They built their team so methodically and then sent 5 firsts and a swap to go all in on the power of friendship…..and then traded one of the friends for KAT.

Nets control their pick in ‘27, ‘28, ‘29, ‘31. Is it unlikely to think that at least two of those are lottery picks?

This is it. It’s gotta be a morale and coaching issue, because they began this slide before Brunson got hurt, and they’re continuing with him back.

Mike Brown talked a lot in the preseason about using Brunson more as a scorer. Now Brunson is shooting too much, they don’t move the ball as well, they are inconsistent getting it to Towns, and the defense is terrible. 

Defensive effort is a big indicator of morale. Not a good sign.

I would fire Mike and trade KAT for a bag of chips. Hire Johnny Bryant who the fans wanted from the start.

Thibs did not play the bench and we reached our limit. If you could threaten him to play the bench, sure. But I don’t see that changing.

Knicks literally look like an uncoached team lately

When the offense clicks it absolutely clicks but it hasn’t in over a month and the defense is 2nd worst in the league in that time

Man seeing Brown being all buddy buddy with Green AFTER he commits a flagrant foul on your star player made me hate him completely, no turning back Thibs would never, JVG would never ever, man Pat Riley might’ve punched Green.

Brown is not a coach fit for NY.

It’s not really a great idea to crown a team a champion because they were solid in November. Then again, NBA fans love to overreact.

Every team puts Towns in the screen action and gets an open three when he drops.

Brunson is an ass defender, kat is an ass defender, Mikal is overrated n gets lazy

Seriously I say just take the top 16 teams with the best overall record to be in the playoffs.

I will be the biggest Celtics hater in that final like I am with the Patriots on the NFL side. Like both not winning championships will be my celebrations this year at this point.

Pistons, Celtics, Raptors, and Sixers have all been better than expected. Charlotte also looks like they are maybe on the verge of being a positive story.

it’s a bad month, which started down Landry Shamet but losing streak really started with them losing Josh Hart to injury for a number of games - during which time KAT, OG, and Mikal all fell into slumps and they lost some tough ones

Hart comes back but then within a game Brunson has to sit a couple for his ankle injury

and then Brunson rushed himself back tonight against Dallas and didnt look ready and they lost again..

and now there’s clearly something affecting the whole team chemistry and NY media is blowing up with speculation surrounding KATs happiness and the teams relationships and if the defense can ever win etc etc

Kat and Brunson are a very bad pairing and they have a poor bench.  Just like last year.  But instead of recognizing that the roster is imperfect, they blamed the coach, fired the guy who got them to the ECF, and replaced him with a friendly loveable goof who has no standards.  So now they have zero discipline, the only thing which was holding the team together.  Also, Kat is having the worst season of his career.  Unclear yet how much is due to aging etc vs. aforementioned coaching change.  He did have two of his best seasons under Thibs, so there’s that…
