[Highlight] Victor Wembanyama hearing the news that he’s named an All-Star Starter.
Imagine walking past if you don’t know him and suddenly he stands up
Court side videos of him are mesmerizing. I know it’s said a lot in relation to Wemby but someone his size should not move the way he does.
I’ve said it a million times here, but that’s how I felt the one time I was gifted courtside bucks seats and watched Giannis up close. He appeared to teleport laterally. It looked, by all logic, like his joints should simply explode under all that force. He was significantly taller than anyone I’ve seen in real life, ever.
And he’s what, 6 inches shorter than wemby? Or even more?
I saw him live in playoffs and it was just weird.
I felt like I watched enough basketball to see which play will be a layup and which play will be a dunk, but with him you expect a layup then BAM he jams it. It’s almost trippy.
Sat behind the jazz bench at a hawks jazz game in atl 2019, Rudy mf Gobert running up and down the court and walking to the bench looked ridiculous up close and he’s like 3-4 inches shorter than wemby. These guys are beyond physically gifted, TV broadcasts don’t do it justice
Exactly. I have a theory that anything tv just doesn’t seem real to us, desensitized as we are by movies and stuff. Additionally the cameras do a lot of work following the play, plus everyone out there is tall.
When you see just how fast, just how huge, just how precise these guys are in real life…. It seems to break a lot of laws of how I thought the universe operated.
Same way watching an NFL QB chuck the ball to an empty patch of field 50 yards away. Meanwhile there’s a WR sprinting to that same spot, faster than you’ve ever seen a person run in your life. And boom, they get there at the exact same time.
These dudes are the top .001% of athletes in their respective sports on the planet. Some of them literally redefine how their sport is played and develops. Ur right that TV doesn’t capture the reality of it.
I said that about KD when he came into the league. They keep getting taller and more skilled. Shit is nuts…
Kung Fu Hustle
greatest movie of all time
Simpsons too
Like the willem dafoe looking up meme
When he started to stand up it felt like he was gonna just keep rising like being on two bottles of Robitussin
That boy big
And then he went and read a book.
that book’s name? Albert Einstein
Gotta kick up after some news like that. Enjoy ya self, take it all in. I see the vision.
The vision?

Well deserved. Love how he plays hard on both ends of the court. Cool, nice dude. Great role model for all the kids out there. I voted for him a few times.
I really want to see him go all out on defense during the ASG. He seems like the kind of dude to take it seriously - he’s got the Giannis energy.
Bro he was getting pissed that his teammates weren’t taking the all stars skill challenge seriously 😂 hes gonna get like 10 blocks in all star game just feeding off ppl who are half assing it
near tears on the bench and walked right off after without saying anything to anyone after the final second.
Same. SGA, Ant, Wemby, Luka, Jokic, etc. I want the faces of the league to make the all-star game mean sum. Like its one of the few chances you get to essentially play on a super team, make it look as crazy as it should.
We know at least two of those don’t care at all about the ASG, and are just going to screw around.
Forget making it a good game, I feel like at some point it’s just disrespectful to the fans the way they treat it. The fact that the league has to come up with all these silly gimmicks to try to get the millionaires to play a game is just kind of disgusting. You make millions and millions of dollars to entertain people, those people cared enough to make you an all-star, and you can’t be bothered to at least show up?
I get that Luka is an OW player, so at least he by nature is going to be a spoiled baby, but come on.
Oh I agree. They still continue sit out games over mickey shit.
These guys dont want to get injured playing a meaningless competition.
meaningless competition
What’s meaningless about it? If all the players tryharded in the AllStar game it would be better than the NBA Finals which only features a small subset of those players. They get paid to play in the NBA, its a part of it. There are plenty of examples internationally in sports of the same thing (see EPL players not resting and instead playing in ‘meaningless’ CONCACAF games)
All star game doesn’t add anything to someone’s legacy and any real basketball fan would and should prefer to watch a random jazz/hornets regular season game than the all star game
Any real basketball fan would absolutely love to watch the all star game IF the players actually put some effort into it.
Last all star game I even came close to giving a shit about was the 2022 game when Steph dropped 50. He at least makes the casual way they’ve been playing these games entertaining. Nobody else the last 6-7 years (or more) really give a shit and it’s not fun to watch.
rest for the regular season>>some useless all star game and the players need the rest these days because the game is more physical demanding these days
This is still the stupidest excuse people give
It’s not though. Imagine a star potentially missing out on weeks of action during the most crucial portion of the season because they decided to go hard in a glorified exhibition game.
The 82 game schedule combined with the modern game pace is already leading to a crazy amount of soft tissue injuries. I rather these guys get the entire all-star break off to heal up
So what’s next? No more training because of potential injuries? No more exercise? They’re already sitting out guys in many games and freak injuries still happen
Training is not meaningless exhibition
You’re still treating the players like they’re made of glass. Literally was not an issue for 50 years but suddenly you can’t even give 40 percent once a year? Please
Players are running further than ever before, higher pace and space means more ground to cover, more often.
It not your grandpas league. This is a different game, injuries are occurring more frequently than ever. Their ultimate goal is to win a championship, so anything that helps that goal is priority, not the all star game.
Hope this helps
He was last year even with the blood clot. I imagine it’s going to be even better without that affecting him
I fcking hope so, ASG has become so boring for quite sometime
Did you watch the last game? He was seriously broken hearted over what a joke it had become.
He was legit near tears on the bench looking so upset, and walked right off after the game ended without talking to anyone.
.. cant blame him though, he grew up dreaming of being an all star and ironing his name in fame and now we all see it as a joke meant to sell ads and mr beast content. NBA has cratered in the last 10 years.
He has the stature and attitude to do it. And drive real change in how the game is played because of how everyone else will look like complete chumps if they don’t increase their intensity.
He’s a humbled kid
Hes so likeable
Great face for the league. Great example.
Its so weird bc on the court hes such a sore winner / sore loser. In everyday life hes so likeable
Well its competitive and his business. You gotta realize, maybe dude is stressin gettin paid big bucks and things are movin fast in his life. Training might wear him down, etc. He’s also just a young guy maneuvering life. Literally left home to play ball. Maybe its just more serious.
Yeah thats true. Hes also young as hell. I can def see myself acting like that when I was his age. Especially if I was so good at what I did lol
Bald Wemby is still taking me out. Someone said “now he really look like he from another planet” 😭😭😭😭
With the hoodie looking like ET
The only difference is that he puts others in the basket
Crazyyyyyyyyyyyyy stray
This boy sneaking in pops fridge and pounding all his Coors for sure
Nah, he is Timmy reborn
I hope he has a long healthy career… great guy who has good self awareness and has become a human cheat code on the court
That is one large man
Inject this content straight into my veins. Seeing him this humble while actively terrorizing the entire NBA is wild. We are watching a 22-year-old (in 2026 context) put up numbers we haven’t seen since Hakeem Olajuwon. Being named a starter with a 32.4% Usage Rate and still anchoring a top-tier defense proves he is the Best Two-Way Player in the world right now. The league is absolutely cooked for the next decade.
TLDR: goodbye parity, NBA fucked.
I fully expect him to get Wayne Gretzky’d in mainstream fantasy bball in the next 3 years.
I don’t see how his stocks decrease over time. While they have this season, I think that is will end up being an aberration once we see his whole career. Players can avoid challenging him at all (like Gobert), but he has the agility, reach and IQ to provide catch-up help defense so late into a shot attempt.
As the only viable defense ATM is to get strong, shorter players to deny him spots, I believe he will begin to average more assists.
I expect him to be a triple double or 5x5 threat in every single game next season. Because of Spurs assets and Wemby’s abilities, I believe he will set new records for consecutive and most total conference finals appearances. I would bet that he ends his career with more than six rings.
Barring injury again, I anticipate he’ll set records for MVP/DPOY/COTY in terms of fewest minutes played; I think he can beat Giannis’s 30.4m per game avg. I could imagine an MVP award with 28 minutes per game.
I see him setting the post-merger single game records for points, steals, blocks and rebounds (in that order).
If healthy, he is going to break the NBA in ways beyond Steph/LeBron/Jordan ever did. He will set untouchable records for 5x5s (at least 7) and quadruple doubles (at least 2). He will be top 5 in triple doubles. He and Luka will likely push Magic and LeBron to 6th and 7th.
I can envision both worlds, the one in which he retires as soon as he’s HOF lock to go enjoy wordly pursuits (age 31?) or sticks around long enough to set as many records as possible (40s). He strikes me as a “get every major award at least once” guy and before taking a rings-only focus.
He is also competitive enough, at least now, to clear the 65 game mark whenever he can. While you see some players embracing extra rest at the expense of hitting 65, I can picture him doing this into his 40s.
Other teams winning the West will be possible for the next three years, I’d take Spurs over the field for the eight years after that.
Based on match-ups and roster construction, Wemby can look to dominate games through offense, defense or balance oriented approaches. I think coaches could easily ask him for absurd aims: “Victor we need 50 points tonight; we need xx% rim protection; we need 10+ steals.”
According to my gut, NBA primes currently span ages of 26 to 33yo. This baby giraffe is acquiring skills at an unbelievable pace. I wouldn’t rule out an MIP in the future, based on the Ja Morant precedent. Hell, I’d root for the guy to plan on a 6MOTY in his twilight.
I think his potential is only capped by career/season totals/avgs records for assists. Everything else is up for grabs.
The Spurs have grown so quickly that he could very well begin racking up MVPs/rings before his prime years.
Additionally, I expect him to also get some 1st/2nd places in World Cups and Olympics. I don’t think those will be the main focus, but Wemby can lock-in to make sure his career includes at least one gold in each tournament. At the very least, I think he’ll average most silvers per tournament by the time he hangs it up.
Last in relevance: I would expect Spurs to win most NBA Cups in the next 10 years. If the NBA ever increases incentives for the Cup win (perhaps a new pick “between” first and second rounds), the Spurs will keep the talent pipeline flowing AND become a destination for the best “12-17” roster-level players.
We could see more picks pulling an Austin Reaves, seeking to only join Wemby. The Spurs have up to 16 second round picks over the next 7 drafts. They already have a competitive roster, a young core and plenty of assets to re-tool. They can really operate with a “three timelines” perspective.
I expect Victor to finish with most All-Star MVPs.
I think my most farfetched projection is the top 5 triple doubles. I didn’t mention Finals MVPs, but given how many chances he’ll get (in my mind) I could see him getting more than six. At the same time, opposing team’s schemes and “balanced” Victor games would probably open doors for Castle/Harper to get a few.
Not Chet? /s
Our boy is growing up!!!
Wembyyyyy
First of many.
I pray him a long healthy injury free career.
For the first time I’m genuinely sad the all star game isn’t that serious anymore.
What I’d give to see Wemby and Curry play on the same team in a serious game with real stakes.. real dream come true.
He might be the one to make it serious again. Not this time, not the next, but if he keeps being the only one to play hard somebody else is bound to join him at some point. Especially the young guys.
Imagine they said Victor Oladipo
The Luka to Wemby lob is gonna feed families
that is a 6’1 dude hugging him lol
I watched this not knowing the context and thought it was a paternity test. He is the Father!
Bro, he’s so fucking tall. Holy shit.
No-brainer All-Star with unreal talent.
Mf is, in fact, tall as shit.
Proud right now.
I’d be more surprised if he wasn’t. Lol
Achievement like that deserves a waist hug
no one cries anymore. where are the criers
E.T. Phone Home
That was actually just him celebrating Chet not making it.
Wonder who is watching fox news. Channel 29.
6th man all star type shit
Dude is moving fast and it still takes 5 seconds to stand up
He’s really rocking the hijabi look here ngl
I remember watching Shawn Bradley 20 years ago thinking someday another guy with this type of body will come along and if he has the mindset of Kobe it would be over.
They have a poster/sign above the TV with the channels, that’s pretty funny. Also fuck Fox NEWs being up there.
So refreshing when there are guys around the league doing cellys after misses
Tu nous rends fiers Wemby!
Sophisticated head nod, ethical hand clap
“I’m an all-star, so now i get to flop like a pro”
It’s good someone got that on video and posted it because the drama and excitement needs to be seen by all humanity. I have goosebumps, and also tears. God willing, I hope to show this to my grandchildren someday.
It’s such a disgrace Anthony isn’t a starter, he just dropped 55 on this guys ass on Saturday night.
Remind me who won again?
Tbf both of them should’ve been starters over steph
Steph has similar stats to Ant, is a better playmaker, and apparently has many more fans. At the end of the day, this is a popularity contest. It sucks that Ant isn’t a starter, but that’s not the outrage that some Wolves fans seem to believe it to be.
Spurs fans *handshake* Steph fans
Don’t betray each other over who Ant should have replaced, stand strong. Both of our guys were deserving.
Tbf FTA shouldn’t be there
I actually think ANT should’ve been a starter, but why bring it up in this thread about Wemby? Almost sounds like you think ANT deserves it over Wemby
