Everyone in the NFL sub has been talking about how refreshing it is that Troy Aikmen is just ripping guys for bad play on national tv for once and telling it like it is. He’s disgusted by bad QB play and takes it personally and it’s great. He was kind of boring for a while as an analyst and then it’s like he had just seen enough and was offended that they played the same position as him.
Him and Buck both loosened up and it tremendously improved the work they do together.

Usually I mute games bc announcers annoy me, but I make exceptions for Greg Olsen and Buck and Troy. Sometimes Tom Brady as well.
Tom is getting better each season, and I don’t think it’s particularly him, I just think people are done with the hot takes and want some real technical analysis.
I definitely enjoy Brady’s deep insight when breaking down plays. There are time you say what the hell were they thinking? And then you hear Brady break it down.
And he’s pretty good on visually showing and communicating those ideas to the fan base, like the video of him breaking down throwing into the wind and the launch angle that was going around Reddit.
People always complain about trash on the networks, but they just want ratings, and if the people want outrageous TV personas with hot takes, that’s what they’ll give them. I’m not sure if its the younger generation pushing this recent desire for smarter coverage, but I’m all for it.
The thing is, information and entertainment should go hand in hand. The reason why Madden was so great in the booth is that he understood both. He could break down everything going on in the game but still knew how to make it digestible and fun to listen to, which worked with Summerall’s dry but straightforward Play by Play style. You can’t, or shouldn’t, try to be just one or the other. Too much information without the right tone, banter or digestability just makes for a dry broadcast. Too much the other way and you get hot take mess, parroting what the network wants them to breakdown.
Brady definitely has taken time to figure out that balance, which is no surprise since it’s Brady and he hates not being good at something. He’s well on his way to being an excellent broadcaster. Compare that to say, Tony Romo who was outstanding his first year and hit that balance perfectly…and then slowly but surely dropped the informational part of his commentary (whether network pushed or not) to just focus on hot takes, though periodically you do see that first year of him pop out.

This is the real issue. KAT sucks at the end of the day because he never rises to the occasion. Expecting him to carry a team is foolish. Has horrible basketball IQ, fouls too much and half of them are just stupid fouls. OHHHHHHHHHHH, and as an announcer called it just last week on national TV, KAT, as a center, cannot and does not know how to anchor a defense.

And surprise surprise, Knicks have locker room problems… Brown has random favorite players and treats great players poorly for some reason. Same story as in SAC. Brown isn’t an X&O coach, so the fact he continues to lose locker rooms and mismanage the minutes of good players and bad ones cause he’s got favorites, is awful. Bad head coach.

I don’t know that it’s “fallen off a cliff”, as much as last season was probably the best season of his career and a little bit of an outlier (played the most minutes and games in a season that he had in aboout 6 years too), and he just isn’t matching that right now.
I’m gonna push back and say he actually did fall off a cliff this year. Based on box score stats, this is probably the worst season of his career. The eye test looks pretty terrible as well. The fact that he went from the best year of his career to the worst has been jarring.
Part of it is teams have adapted to the KAT and Brunson combo and KAT needs to add more to the bag to keep it working
KAT and Brunson are both 30 neither of them are adding more to the bag. Love Kat but his defense makes it hard to put him on a team with a player like Brunson especially when his offense is also having a down year. Knicks will still be a top half seeded team so I don’t think his play will be the end of the world for them or anything though.
KAT was a solid defender for us when everyone on the court was putting in effort and he wasn’t expected to anchor a defense
He can be a fine defender at the 4 when he has a really solid rim protector behind him but it’s definitely something to build around. That wolves lineup with Conley, Anthony Edwards, Jaden, KAT, Gobert had KAT as the worst defender.
I mean they just got to adapt. Not saying add A LOT but if teams keep throwing the same things gotta change something
Why don’t the Knicks play KAT and Robinson together more? They’ve only played 182 minutes together this season, which is about 6-7 minutes per game (spread across the games they’ve both played in).
Because KAT is increasingly unable to play that fake-four where he can cheat on the corner guy and then provide help defense at the rim. Its more complicated than this but teams are running lineups where he has to move his feet a lot more on defense if he’s not gonna “play the 5”, and he’s seemingly less able to punish smaller lineups on offense as well.
Mitchell Robinson only plays ~20 minutes per game as well and the third center on the Knicks is either Hukporti or Yabusele and, well, I don’t know how many minutes you really want those two playing right now. Just not a lot of minutes for those two to share the court.
Because Robinson doesn’t play enough unfortunately. That would be the ideal pairing.
Hard to say because KAT sacrificed a lot and fully committed to defense a year after Rudy arrived. He’ll buy in to a good scheme and has proven that

The biggest roster changes were Yabusele (lmao my phone corrected it to “a useless”) and Jordan Clarkson. All in all, the fact that the roster remained pretty consistent was a big factor for this team going into the season.

Kat to Atlanta, Giannis to Knicks, KP + + Wallace + Kennard’s expiring money and Yabu to the bucks works contract wise. But the Knicks have I think 1 tradable pick and while Atlanta needs a center I don’t think Kat is good enough right now to give up multiple draft picks pay him $53 million a year. The bucks are going to want a decent young player back for Giannis and while they get a massive amount of cap space out of this three bad first round picks and cap space is not enough for Giannis. I hate it for everyone involved but the Knicks.
