I watched Jayson Tatum’s lengthy workout at Celtics shootaround — here’s what I observed
Awesome. You never know exactly what the point of emphasis is when they are drilling. Seems like moving fast and slow, reading opponent’s lean, and making a quick move. No elevation or finishing with force in these videos, but maybe just not the point here. He looks really comfortable— he looks more like a normal guy doing half speed drills than a rehabbing guy that can’t. I’m sure there’s still a long way to go and all but he looks strong
It’s happening sooner rather than later if he’s letting the media in
My guess is that he’ll come back for the last game right before the all-star break. It’s at home against Chicago. He’ll then have a week off to assess his performance and see where he’s at. He’ll probably play 20-25 min initially. No back to backs for the entire season. Basically, he’ll get the Al Horford treatment. By April, hopefully he’s up to 30-35 min per game. He’ll need to be if he wants to make a significant contribution in the playoffs.
Very encouraging.
Having him play 10-15 minutes for a month after the break would be a great first step IMO.
If he can do that, he might be able to play 20-25 minutes in meaningful games.
Pro athletes are insane lol. Tatum 7 months removed from a torn Achilles is already more mobile than 90% of us
hes coming back this year. I can only imagine how electric the garden is going to be that night.
Right now Tatum is like “call an ambulance!”
Soon he’ll be like “but not for me!”
