He seems to impact literally every possession he plays. Defensively is where he is clearly a machine but a lot of the value he brings there with IQ and positioning type stuff carries over to the offensive side of the ball too.

I get excited and yet also feel comfortable seeing him on the floor which is really amazing for a 19 year old rookie who we managed to nab at pick #28

I have no idea what this guy’s gonna look like in his prime. He can do a little bit of everything at a decent level: dribbling, driving, shooting, finishing, off ball, on ball stuff, obviously defense has been covered.

One thing he’s good at that I like is his ability to get by people without much lateral movement. He’s good in narrow spaces. It’s kind of like JB.

He’s currently a fill-in-the-gaps kinda guy. Will he just continue to excel and grow into that kind of role? Or will he develop into a legitimate offensive threat? I’d love to know what Brad thinks.

Realistically he becomes Aaron Nesmith, which is not a bad outcome at all for a 28th pick. A versatile, high energy defensive pest who can also hit 3’s, drive a bit.

But he’s shown enough flashes that I wouldn’t be surprised if he became even more, especially with how Nesmith’s growth was stunted a bit due to our guard depth when he was with us.

Hugo would be a top 10 draft pick this year and probably the last… yet he’s on the contract of a 27th pick for the next four years. Very excited to see him potentially blossom into an all-star defender as time passes (maybe he takes over for the Jays?)
