He was technically drafted by the Magic as the League stupidly doesn’t recognise draft day trades, hence why it is considered a “Magic” pick, but Brad traded away (frustratingly!) the 32nd pick for 46 and 57. Brad chose Amari and Shulga and the Magic chose Penda.

Magic can’t claim Celtics players as their picks, just as the Celtics can’t claim drafting Desmond Banes, and the Suns can’t claim picking Rajon Rondo.

All this nonsense is why Luka’s draft day pick has him wearing a Hawks hat.

I wanted Ryan Kalkbrenner or Max Raynaud so bad. Wanted one at 28 and then either best PF (Penda, Fleming) or a combo guard at 32.

It was a disappointing two days of draft for me. I took some time off work to watch it and then that happened.

Still a little annoyed they traded down. Amari looks good in the G League and has some interesting skills but Kalkbrenner or Raynaud could have been good with how they developed Luke and Queta the last couple years.

Kalkbrenner and Raynaud are literal statues and don’t fit with what the Celtics want in big men. Kornet could always move his feet and so can Queta. Kalkbrenner and Raynaud are glaciers and would not fit in with Joe’s teams at all.

Why would you be annoyed at anything Brad does? He knows what he is doing. If he ever listened to this sub the Celtics would be in major trouble lol.

He started playing basketball full time at 17. He was a swimmer.

He’s going to be in the NBA for a decade or more. Incredibly efficient in the paint and outside of the restricted area, and will be good trail 3 and corner 3 threat from the 5.

He’s a good player.

Most teams outside of the lottery would give up a draft pick for him right now.

I guess Celtics wanted to give them two-way contract due to salary cap flexibility but they might deny it. Kalbrenner and Raynaud both got multiyear standard contract by Hornets and Kings.

Max Shulga signed two-way contract on July 30 but Amari signed it on August 15, which might seem quite weird. Maybe Amari also proposed if he can get standard contract after he got drafted.(Before draft, he might say okay to have two-way deal but there is extra roster spot for Celtics and Williams could just try it.) That’s why there was delay, I guess.

Brad hasn’t used a lot of draft picks. He traded away most of the good ones like when he gave up the Sengun pick to trade Kemba for Al Horford. Jordan Walsh and Hugo Gonzalez are literally the most successful players he’s selected.

almost every pick, unless they are overseas and dont ever come over, will play one minute at the minimum in the NBA. There are some rare exceptions but every player in Begarin’s draft except non-American foreign players have played one minute at least in the NBA

He was the best talent evaluator in college basketball for a good stretch of time, and put together great rosters with minimal resources compared to high major programs. He also excelled in developing the talent.
