unintended outcome of the Pels trade, was that as long as the Pels are picking high in the draft — the Bucks have some freedom to tank for their pick, despite not owning full control of it
the Hawks will take the best out of the Pels and Bucks picks. but what happens if both are good (ie Pels hit #1 overall, and Bucks hit #3). the Pels pick goes to the Hawks, and the Bucks can keep pick #3. as things stand, theres a world where the Bucks win the lottery with the 9th best lottery odds, send the pick to the Hawks, but get to keep the Pels pick afterwards thats currently slated to be the 5th pick at worst.
obviously its never ideal to miss the playoffs when you have a healthy Giannis. but at the 9th best lottery odds currently, the Bucks can also look to this year’s draft.
Other than doing a S&T involving Reaves and giving every available pick I don’t see how we could be in that conversation. If anything, Knicks should be all over this. Anything other than Brunson and Hart should be movable and the East is never going to be this open for a while once Tatum returns.
Lakers are only halfway plausible if Giannis openly says he won’t re-sign anywhere else and I don’t think he’ll do that.
