[Highlight] Anthony Black collides with referee on fast break, resulting in a turnover
Gotta look where you’re going Anthony. Refs are part of the court.
Maybe one day we’ll get flying refs.
Unfortunate truth, although the ref could’ve done a better job at getting out of the way for sure
I feel like in this case yeah the ref definitely had room to get out of the way. Bro was occupying prime real estate on the court
Uh here’s a tip for the refs, learn to get out the way when a player is running on the court especially when he’s the one that is looking in that direction and that happens multiple times a game
The ref doesn’t even TRY to move to the sideline. He literally goes up court in the same direction without veering. Look where the other ref is on the opposite side. He’s barely on the court while that ref who collides with Black is several feet out
Problem is if he goes out of bounds, he has high chances of running into coaches, Subs and who ever courtside just did a beer run.
He didn’t need to go out of bounds, but he needs to be closer to it than his entire body on the court when a player is already 5 ft from him. He needed to be back further, this is honestly officiating 101 I’m sure because how often do you see an incident like this, a handful of times during an entire season where there’s over a thousand games.
I’m looking at the 4th second of the video and there is a Grizzlies coach or staffer taking most of the out of bounds space while Black is running the outer lane. Maybe the ref could be a bit more out but it’s seems like a tight fit.
Does he? Plays like this happen multiple times a game, ref generally creates a clear path.
Does he?
Does he what? I’m confused by your question sorry
I imagine they meant, “Does he have to look where he’s going?”
I’d say it’s his responsibility yeah, you can’t assume the refs will always be out of the way.
It is the responsibility of the refs to get out of the way of the players.
I am not arguing that the Magic should have gotten a “do-over”, but players run backwards all the time, and players in front of a fast break need to be able to look over their shoulders.
I agree that it’s the responsibility of the refs to get out of the way, but the players can’t assume the refs always manages to do it.
Just follow the comment he replied to. Does he have a high chance of running into subs and coaches if he’s not in bounds ?
Jet pack refs
Ref should be closer to the sideline
Holy shit even the stadiums in London are foggy
They don’t call it Foggy London Town for no reason
According to Lane in madmen: London is not foggy.
T’was merely smog, from the industrial revolution!
That’s it! I couldn’t remember what he said haha.
Quaid Army?
Righteous kill
It looks like someone lit off fireworks in this gym
I was wondering about that.
Ref tanked the hit! What a beast. Watch where you run next time or be prepared to go HARDER.
Ref dropped the banana
Will he be forever the legend that dunks on 4 guys AND on a ref?
Great upgrade from being the jersey swap guy
This doesn’t happen often which tells you this refs shouldve tried to a little harder to move…if I was Black I would’ve T’d him and threw him out the game
An excellent showcase of the quality of NBA refereeing to the fine people of London.
Sums up our season
yall are so dramatic. We’ve had a decent season. Obviously we would hope we would’ve been heathier, but we’re not a disaster. Hovering between the 4th and 6th seed isn’t some god awful season
I dont want decent I want to win every game ever 🥺🥺
Some people are content with mediocrity when I know we can be so much better.
Do we have the technology to get rid of refs? Can we use video refs with a thousand different camera angles?
Next get rid of the players
Just watch a simulation
OMG /s people
Idk I feel like it’s feasible and would protect the integrity of the sport which has been in question since the early 2000s when that ref gambling first got found out
With all of the scandals when it comes to gambling would it not be better to have a bunch of guys in booths watching the game from different angles to make foul call. It would get the refs emotions out of the game. Like dude Scott foster has had vendettas with players that turns into ego fueled ejections.

The refs have literally always been part of the court. Sucks that they were in the way on this play but its part of the game.
Pulled back? Why?
Pulled back? Who?
Pulled back? What?
Black should been looking where he’s going
That’s the poster dunk guy…probably thought he could fly
If he wasn’t pre-programmed to just fall with the slightest bit of contact, he could have remained on his feet and finished the play. That’s on him for flopping
That’s really dumb
