Also, Amari looked lost out there, and a bit lazy. Seeing Garza run hard and box out every single play regardless of time/score really highlights when someone half asses it, and IMO, that kid was half assing it big time. Not a good way to try to get more minutes

Lazy pass lead to a turnover, watches shots many times instead of hustle to the rim to box out for a potential miss…. Not great IMO.

Speed of the League continues to baffle the young man.

I disagree with “lazy”. Rookies often look lost, like frightened baby deer who wandered onto 495. And they fall into quicksand early and often.

The difference between someone who has been “in the League” for years - like Garza - and Williams is noticeable. Because of context. Garza practiced against Rudy Gobert for two years before arriving in Boston. Footage of Garza, before he got to Boston, could be labeled “lazy”. He was a baby deer on 495 and Rudy Gobert is an 18-wheeler.

Williams is also a fundamentally different kind of “Big” than Garza (or Queta). Williams isn’t that sort of Big. His skill set is closer to Domantas Sabonis.

Williams is not ready for NBA duty and may never be good enough. But his play style AND his inexperience are why he looks “lazy” when compared to Garza.

The point is that “hustle” in an environment as high paced as the NBA will always be a combination of will and skill. Hugo has incredible feel and decisiveness. It isn’t just that he is running around like a chicken with his head cut off. He is going to where he needs to be and he recognizes that quickly. And if you don’t have that, you either make bad decisions quickly or good decisions slowly. The former is more readily seen as a situation where the “game needs to slow down for them”, but it all works the same.

Sealing, that’s it. Amari just needs to learn how to seal. They should show him angel reese film she’s one of the best at that in pro basketball currently.

When the ball goes up he’s standing straight a lot, he needs to get down and get positioning before the ball even goes up. It’s not really that hard you just need be taught it, he has the body for it so it’s just a learning thing.

He’s definitely not lazy, he doesn’t know what he’s supposed to be doing yet. That’s why i’ve been saying playing him in the g league is a waste of time when he could’ve been getting real minutes. All he needed was like 2 months of consistent minutes to get up to speed, but for whatever reason we decided not to do that and here we are.

You’re saying he’s not ready for NBA duty when the last time he played real minutes he helped hold duren to 12pts when he was averaging 20+, and neutralized isaiah stewart and had him in early foul trouble. He’s a great ball handler, amazing passer, and he’s a very good defender. He had at least 2 blocks in those few minutes he played last night. Every time he goes to the rim he’s either getting fouled or scoring, you’re simply an awful evaluator of basketball players to be saying what you’re saying.

The people who cover the team were raving about him last night, sherrod was saying he could see from amari’s minutes that he’s going to very special, but you think there’s no shot he can be a THIRD big. Hilarious lol

There’s plenty of players in the g league who could be on a roster, there isn’t space for everybody there’s only 30 teams, that doesn’t mean every single player in the g league is worthless.

Every g league team has a few guys that could contribute if given the opportunity, they don’t get the opportunity.

If tatum doesn’t get hurt, or we keep jrue/horford/KP, there’s a very high chance walsh gets cut after this season. Is it because he sucks? No, he wouldn’t have got an opportunity.
