He deserves to be an all-star for sure now, but the last 3 games have been against the Pels, Mavs & Wizards which is leading to an over-reaction. They’ve lost to Brooklyn, Cleveland & Atlanta since Jokic has been out. They face 6 bad teams in the next 7 and then Feb & Mar are almost non-stop tough opponents.
I believe the Nuggets record against above .500 teams is actually much better than their record against below .500 teams. Happy to take all the bad teams now with all these injuries.
I’d have to do a statistical deep-dive on time spent trailing, and average margin of victory in wins w SD, and then do some stat comparisons to really make an argument here, but I WILL say that to the eye test, it feels like Jokic and Murray just phone it in against bad teams. The Nuggets will play the Jazz and Jokic will have shot 3 shots at halftime. Really feels like they’re overly confident in their ability to close, and that they aren’t interested in pushing out any lead. Once the Nuggets are up 10, they’re comfortable to just slow the game down and coast.

It’s something like 60 percent of interest and viewership goes exclusively to two teams. 80 percent of interest and viewership goes to 5 total teams. The last 20 percent is made up of fans of the rest of the teams in the league that watch them.
Moreover, it’s something like 97 percent of the total NBA viewership do not live in a city with a team when looking at global numbers.
The NBA also assists teams in protecting their image in global markets. Similar to the MLB. This is a problem because they freeze out other NBA teams from promoting in that region. The Lakers have a huge part of China locked down because the NBA won’t let teams like the Raptors, Celtics, Bulls, and others encroach on the territory.

Toronto has blown past Chicago in population as of 2026 and is only behind NY and LA. Money is pouring into the region. Now, the NBA has become far more friendly to the Raptors promoting in other regions, while continuing to block smaller market teams from doing the same.

Kinda ironically, these arbitrary rules prevented the Pistons from advertising in Windsor because it’s Canadian and is considered Raptor territory. I believe it’s changing gradually because it frankly doesn’t make much sense for the Pistons to be restricted from advertising and promotion when it’s literally a hop from the tunnel to LCA.
But yeah it is dumb that the Raptors being such an international city are restricted from many international opportunities. I actually had no idea the Lakers somehow had large parts of China staked out, it just stacks the deck even more in favour of the most popular team

In the one point loss to the Magic back in December, final play, he needed to jump into the defender who fell for the head fake. Flat out refused, can respect that but shot and missed the long 2 when he could have easily won the game.
Yep. I’ve talked about this in other forums, but one of the reasons that he gets labeled as inconsistent (not unfairly) is that he doesn’t get to the line much. Switching out 2 higher variance FGA for 4 low variance FTA would do a lot to stabilize his scoring. Up until this year, he never even averaged 4 FTA a game.

No one’s trying to draw fouls on a guy who couldn’t make it to the g-league. Also, they’re playing for the love of the game in the summer; during the season, contracts are on the line.
