The Detroit Pistons are the story of the NBA season for me and it’s not even remotely close. A team that only reached the Playoffs in only 6 of the last 20 seasons, not making it past the 1st round since ²⁰⁰⁷⁄₀₈.

They are on pace to win 61+ games and I think it’s entirely possible they reach that mark, assuming the players stay healthy and the team stays focused.

Coach of the Year will definitely be a lock by the All-Star break if they continue on this run.

Cade is doing a great job being a leader of the team, while everyone else contributes in their own way and it’s such a breath of fresh air to see them rise up to the challenge.

We still have a lot of growth ahead of us which should scare the league, the narrative is incredible and we have one of the most likable, best young superstars in the league. Yet we’re somehow still under the radar, tells you a whole lot about national narrative, media bias and fans’ willingness to fall right in line.

They should absolutely be ahead of the Rockets. Personally I think the Rockets are nearly as fraudulent as the Lakers but they don’t have FVV so I am reserving full judgement until they do. Detroit are probably equal to or better than the Wolves and probably better than current Denver but definitely worse than Denver with Jokic.

Insane to think just 2 seasons ago the Pistons were the laughingstock of the NBA and setting losing streak records. I have a lot of respect for Cade for how he carried himself and acted as a leader through that adversity, and he and the rest of the team fully deserve their success now.
