[Highlight] Wembanyama shows off crafty footwork to beat the double team.
I don’t know what traveling is anymore
clean enough, for 2026, spin gather, pivots off the right into the step through, he’s just so long that it looks ridiculous
Its like that time Gobert got called for a travel just dribbling the basketball down the court
Rudy dribbling normally is like the invention of the alley oop- it makes no sense so it MUST be called for… SOMETHING!
Yeah he crosses halfway across the basket in one step lol it looks ridiculous
That’s what I’m saying
I think he did it right, but he’s soooo long that my brain just thinks travel
gl refs
lol dude gathered before any spin first of all
I like to call travels in many stupid nba highlights but this one looks clean.
He gathered then took two steps without the pivot foot returning to the ground
Can you explain to me how you take 2 steps without one of your feet returning to the ground
He gathered and stepped with his right foot making that his pivot foot. He stepped with his left foot. He released the ball before his right foot returned to the ground.
Lakers fan can’t count man
This wasn’t a travel. He doesn’t establish a pivot foot (his right) until he gathers through the spin. Then he takes one more step and shoots before the pivot foot hits the floor again. It’s just really great footwork and perfectly legal/clean.
Crazy foot work
Crafty*
I thought the same, but it’s actually clean (in 2026). The gather step almost re-interprets the rule and allows for one extra step. In that way, this works.
He’s just so tall so the gather looks weird
looks clean to me. you start counting the steps when the player has possession or control of the ball. he took 2 steps after.
He stole that move from Grayson Allen
“A spin of his own”
Well this clip features an example of a travel… whether the officials want to call it or not.
Dudes just bouncing off his torso
Check his jersey for flubber
Bald wemby’s just insane
Reverse Samson.
Wembaldyama
He is the one
Bald.gives testosterone
Im not even a Spurs fan, but I just want this guy to dominate
It’s a normal spin with a gather, not a travel. He spins in the gather (right foot). You can see he is gathering the ball with his right hand into his left hand. Then just two steps.
I really don’t know what you’re supposed to do with this man.
Reminds me of trying to tackle in under 12s rugby and the other team having this one “kid” who was already almost finished puberty, sideburns and everything while the rest of didn’t even know what an arm pit hair was.

could try putting traveling back in the rules
Have you seen any of his other 100 highlights? Travel or not on this play, the man is still an absolute freak of nature.
Not sure how that’s not a travel
Easy, there was a 0 step, gather step, pivot, shuffle step, step through, and basket.
I know this is a serious answer but lmao
I don’t think it was a serious answer lol
I think it was because that’s exactly what Wemby did
My head hurts
You asked
Yes, that’s what we are saying. The steps you describe should be called as a travel..
Swish
Spin on his gather step and then two steps. Clean by the rules.
He shot before the pivot foot came back down
He switched his pivot.
Gather steps through the spin to plant, arguably the two on ball wasn’t timed with his feet but refs aren’t strict like that, Then right becomes pivot, then the step through keeping the right up at the end. Modern gather rules and enforcement + 7’5” looks goofy
Why call additional steps “gathers” and not just admit that you can take as many steps as you like amd be done with? This is a joke..
On the dribble very potentially but it’s close
No, he didn’t. He gathered through the spin.
Basketball Travel Rules
You can’t just be up there and just doin’ a travel like that.
1a. A travel is when you
1b. Okay well listen. A travel is when you travel the
1c. Let me start over
1c-a. The player is not allowed to do a motion to the, uh, feet, that prohibits the defender from doing, you know, just trying to play defense. You can’t do that.
1c-b. Once the player gathers the ball, they can’t be over here and say to the ref, like, “I haven’t dribbled yet, I’m still figuring it out!” and then just be like they didn’t even do that.
1c-b(1). Like, if you pick up your dribble and then don’t dribble, you still have to dribble. You cannot not dribble. Does that make any sense?
1c-b(2). You gotta be, dribbling motion of the ball, and then, until you just dribble it.
1c-b(2)-a. Okay, well, you can have the ball up here, like this, but then there’s the pivot foot you gotta think about.
1c-b(2)-b. Traveling is sometimes called “footwork” if you are very famous.
1c-b(2)-b(i). Oh wait, it’s only footwork in the playoffs.
1c-b(2)-b(ii). “That’s not a travel” — Announcer, Every Game Ever. Haha, classic…
1c-b(3). Okay seriously though. A travel is when the player makes a movement that, as determined by, when you do a move involving the basketball and feet and the concept of steps
Do not do a travel please.
Gather on his spin then two steps, clean by the rules.
step-through + bought his foot up on the last step
Gather in the drop back, step, step, spin, clap, jump, crouch, hit x, y, b, b, right, left, up, down, closed his eyes, puked and then shot. Pretty clear
Excellent summary of my sex tape
Because it abides by the rules.
Facing the Wolves
It was a carry, but wasn’t a travel
Can we just pause on how he was absolutely over the top fouled as he got the pass? As fans we Might brush off the fact that he was mauled on that play but he absolutely was attacked but because he is bigger than his opponent he doesnt get the foul call.
You mean how he plowed through Conley and it should have been an offensive foul? Agree
Conley in no way was in legal guarding position
Ok thanks u/Victor_Wembanyama1
Bro looks like me playing against my little cousins in a 5v1
this play will be on highlight reels for eternity damn
He just created a move
Hey uhhhh…. I fear this man
I can’t watch that in slow motion and say it’s not a travel
Like a giant among liliputians.
Inconceivable
We have now reached the point that traveling is not only allowed but is actually called “crafty”. Next, it will be called “amazing footwork”
Looking super raw offensively
But enough about the Lakers
Raw dogging opponents
One thing I hate about his game is how much he catches the ball on the perimeter. Get ya long ass in the paint!
he’s better at the perimeter and elbow so no, don’t have the shooters to play in the paint without being a chore anw
Nobody else on the team can shoot threes well enough to space it for him.
Do you see the way people guard him? It’s like a damn sumo wrestling match half the time.
You’re getting downvoted but you’re right - these casuals don’t know ball. He’s out there on the perimeter shooting at below the league average instead of playing for efficiency and hunting offensive boards in the paint. Bro spends half the game pretending he’s a poor man’s Steph Curry
