[Highlight] Russell Westbrook hits a deep 3, the Wizards take a timeout, and Westbrook goes to the spot where he hit the 3, talking to his teammate, happy, and pretending to shoot again from there.
Happy Russ makes me happy
Same, I’ll never understand the people who hate the guy. He always plays at 110% effort and I’ll always love him for it.
He plays with 110 percent effort when he has the ball on offence. One of the reasons why he got hate was his 50 percent effort on defence and moving off ball
Effort isn’t his biggest problem, mostly offball IQ. He’d give a 100 percent to make an ISO stop but also 100% on an unecessary steal or chasing a rebound
There are a couple of reasons why. I remember some Thunder fans didn’t like the fact that he was hogging the ball and made a lot of bad shot selections back when they had KD. Also, he gained a lot of haters back when he was a triple double machine because he sometimes would statpad to get those tripdubs. His tenure at Lakers didn’t help him either.
He’s annoying and has an annoying face. Like an old anime grandma
The hate is because he gets people kicked out for calling him Westbrick when he isn’t shooting well. He has always been a streaky shooter who overcame that by being athletic and getting to the rim. Now he isn’t as athletic and he has to rely on one of his bigger weaknesses and it shows up A LOT.
I will concede though that when he is hot/on fire he is really on fire.
Well, he’s pretty distasteful even though he doesn’t necessarily mean to be. He’s headstrong when it comes to criticism, but I’m sure outside of basketball there’s a chance he is completely different as a person. I’ve never met the guy, but a lot of former teammates praise him, so there’s that.
Just seems like he doesn’t care at all how he is perceived in basketball, which is completely fine. But that doesn’t always translate to a charisma that say someone like Allen Iverson or Carmelo Anthony has, both of whom were just as hard working as Russ.
Sometimes he can be quite pouty, on the court, on the bench, and in interviews. Not really something that a lot of people enjoy.
Just say you don’t like him because of his lakers tenure man
I actually love Westbrook and felt he was scapegoated. There were far bigger problems than just what he did. He embodies basketball, being able to average a triple double at 6’2 barefoot in the NBA and win MVP is something that only a handful of people can do.
Same
My favorite part about this, that the clip cuts off, is two of his teammates (Monk and Schroder) were giving him a hard time and pointing to the floor much closer to the three line saying “Nah, bro. It was way up here!” You can kind of see part of it in the left side of the frame where Monk is waving his hand like “come forward.”
36% from 3 this year. Not too shabby.

Who cares bro
Is that an existential question?
Found playoff P
It’s only a bad shot if you miss 😉
Got his joy back
Happy russ happy me
Easy money
The kings are a perfect Russ team
What a backhanded compliment
The rare double backhanded compliment lol
Not that I ever hated Russ, but through this shit of a season I understand why some people hold him in high regard.
Lmao i definitely feel this. I became a huge (non-negotiable) russ supporter after his year with us, and I did not like this dude during the kd okc era lol. Started to slowly win me over after kd left but it wasn’t until he got here when i got the whole russ experience. Theres a reason why his teammates love the dude
This guy is just magic bro, there’s no way to describe it until he’s on your team
Like, I know Shai is already going to down as a better player but Russ is always going to be THE guy for me
Will forever love Russ. Probably my favorite player of all time.
If only every player played with his intensity.
One of the most entertaining players in the league. Gives it everything he has. Hard not to respect that level of effort.
What the hell happened to Westbrook during that year where he couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn?
Dude is the like ultimate vibes player, and when the vibes are bad, he’s bad. Lakers fans were booing him whenever he touched the ball, he wasn’t fitting in the locker room, wasn’t getting along with the coach, so he was awful
They just wanted a whipping boy for lebron not winning.
It helps that Russ is no longer on a max contract. He is now far outperforming his contract vs the other way around on LAL
I think he is also a rhythm player that needs the ball more frequently than what a role player typically would have it.
I don’t completely disagree, but he shot just as poorly with Houston, Washington and the Clippers. We also had two different coaches while he was here and he was bad under both of them.
Idk what y’all are talking about, he’s shot below 30% from deep in more seasons than he’s shot above 30%. His worst shooting year was with Houston when he shot 25%.
He’s just an awful shooter. One of the few players athletic enough to succeed in the NBA that I think would have been better off in another sport.
Shit I think he’s done alright in the NBA. Not all of your favourite players win a chip
These people are talking about how he shoulda played another sport like Russ ain’t a first ballot hall of famer, former MVP, with one of the best statistical careers ever lmao
He obviously chose by far the best sport for him
Might be ignorant but I’ve always seen the NFL as the place to go if you aren’t tall enough for the NBA or skilled enough for the MLB. If Westbrook was shorter he’d definetely be a WR/CB/TE etc.
He could have been a devastating SS.
The pipe dream would be QB, but he doesn’t seem to do enough film work for me to believe. He has good vision though and his athleticism is off the charts for the position.
Injuries
No. Injuries are not why he was an air ball hucker deserving of the nickname Westbrick.
He had hand surgery in the off season after which his shooting improved a lot. Looks like hes obv improved his shooting as well.
Which year is that supposed to be referring to?
That team in general was built to shit bricks. Look what they built again this year. Another brick shit house. Front office is just awful. Mark Walter need to get rid of Buss and the GM
He has been in decline as a shooter since his best shooting season, his MVP year. He’s had loads of hand injuries since then.
Happy Russ found his love for the game again
Imagine if he shot like this in his prime bro
The one year in his career he ever shot over 34% from 3 he won the MVP
Hand injuries fucked him. That man is automatic in the midrange.
He’s having fun but damn it hurts to see Russ like this on the kings
Go Russ
I’m still giving him that shot all day lol
We love a happy Russ!
[removed]
hell yeah
Never shy to let it fly . Gotta love Westy man
C@ncerous behaviour smh
what the hell is that title? Are you writing a novel?
That’s his problem. He’s too obsessed with herotic moments like that and will keeping shooting more, that eventually ends hurting the team.
So he can do clowny stuff like this but someone calls him Westbrick and hes crying and getting people kicked out.
He’s him*
*- ~30% of the time
I wish Russ did this for LA but happy to see Russ back playing comfortably.
You wish he made a three? Or smiled?
Russ is happiest when he’s on a losing/non-contending team and can just put up his stats. Always has been.
Hes happiest when hes contributing to contending teams. Which has been most of his career
I wouldn’t say “most.” He hasn’t played for a contender since 2016.
Houston and denver
If you thought Houston was a contender when they had Russ then idk what to tell you lol. Denver I’ll give credence to but he was a bit part player and they very publicly did not want him back after that one season.
They were one of the best teams in the league before russ got hurt. I dont know what to tell you.
And thats irrelvent. He won them a playoff series and almost made the wcf. I can promise you he was having more fun then than floundering on a bottom feeder sac team
It’s irrelevant that the last contender he was on made it clear that they didn’t want him back, even at a minimum? Alright, man.
Your claim was that hes happy being in non winning situations and denver not wanting him back IS irrelevent to that lol
That Houston team is very much a contender than your Knicks will ever be.
Someone trade for him and save him
We love Russ here in Sac. Dude needs no saving.
fr, he’s having fun and they’re fun af to watch
what makes them fun?
Low stakes games, have a bunch of guys that can go off any given night against anyone.
yea if you’re blind
Ummm they want Westbrook to get a ring. A ring and Sacramento won’t be a thing for our lifetimes
